You might think that I would come home from two conferences with bags of bars, cereal, or chocolates.
Nope, I came home with tons of laundry detergent!! Both BlogHer and HLS had it in their swag bags (and I took some off the hands of carry on bag friends!)
As you can imagine, I put them to good use this morning
I also have lots of new Biscoff cookies and had no idea where to put them. Finally I found a new kind of cookie jar – a lantern. Think it looks kinda neat?
Matt and I went out to run some errands. He is so responsible these days! He was in charge of the grocery list, while I went to the bank and post office.
We only needed a few things since we’re leaving tomorrow, but you can bet your bottom dollar that SUPERFISH made it into the cart!! I love them more and more!
Matt made sardine salad, I assembled the grapes
He just left for a haircut so I’m not sure of the exact recipe, but I believe this was a combo of:
- Smoked sardines (the BEST!)
- Water-packed sardines
- Zucchini
- Squash
- Tomato
- Green pepper
- Mayo (he usually adds a tbsp for the whole recipe)
- Mustard (probably 2 tsp)
- Salt + Pepper
- Hot sauce
Food Should Taste Good Sweet Potato flavors for scooping – my fav!
To drink: Solixir from the HLS swag bag. Consider it what soda should be – just a touch of sweetness from 30% real fruit juice, natural, fizzy. I loved the flavor!
Taking a break today to rest my body and mind. And make pesto!

It was SOOOO nice to meet you!
Freya, Wow, you sure came a long way! Nice to hear when someone has such a spectacular time. While you were here were you able to buy some of those things you are not able to acquire where you live?
oOOOHH yes, way too much stuff too!
Nice job on the grapes !
Take care of yourself this week
Heh heh. It was hard work!
Love sardine salad! I make mine with pickles, and the combination is enough to make my fiancee run away in horror! I like to tease him by following him around my bowl of stinky, fishy, pickly goodness!
Laura
I was so impressed with the swag! I couldn’t carry my Solixir on the plane so I only took a few sips of it in my room but it was goooooood!
I can’t wait to see the pesto you make! I have a basil plant and am just biding my time before I pluck it!
A cookie lantern– I LOVE it!!! Lol. You should become a Delta spokesperson
The solixir was so refreshing!! I wish I’d known you were collecting the laundry detergents. I asked a few of my friends but they were all carry-on too, so I just left it in the room in the hopes one of the maids would take it home.
I can’t get enough grapes these days!!!
I love the lantern idea :+)
That salad looks good!
Sweet Potato is my absolute favorite flavor of FSTG chips!! And I also looooove super fish! I just bought a tin of smoked mackerel filets and I can’t wait to try them!

Being home is the best, even if you have to leave again soon. It’s just a sense of relief to be there. Are you going to be posting any new items in the KERF Shop?
YES!! Got a few exciting things up my sleeve
Mm I want to try that sardine salad!
MMMM that looks good! My lunch today was almost entirely HLS swag -haha!
I love the new cookie jar!
What a great idea!
Do not fear the Sardines!! They are so delicious and these days I call them my ‘poor man’s salmon’! I grew up eating them straight out of the can, and am so glad to see them incorporated into delicious wholesome recipes. Thanks for sharing!
Bet it feels good to be back home and back on a schedule
Love pesto!
I’m so bummed I had to miss the HLS, but I’m glad all you ladies had fun! Chicago is a great city. Also, I had to comment on those sweet potato chips….they look incredible. I’ve seen them in the store, but have never tried them, now I will for sure
I’m really itching to try Biscoff. It looks so good, especially in the new cookie jar.
I adore, ADORE biscoff cookies. There is no way I could have that many in my house. Laundry detergent is a great swag bag gift, actually!
The cookie latern is an awesome idea! I have one of those too, and am now thinking about what I could put in it!

Nice touch with the lantern! I love making jars out of things around the house as well. And funnily enough, I seem to be receiving a lot of laundry detergent samples too lately! Enjoy the relaxation – and laundry smell!

Love the lantern cookie jar I keep checking open sky for the spice jars but they arent there do you have any idea when they will be available?
Sadly I don’t think they’ll be making an appearance. I will see if I can get them back.

Love the lantern cookie jar!
It’s impossible to resists Biscoffs- must have good control to have them sitting there out in the open! lol
Oh, read that book at the beginning of the summer. I couldn’t decide if I liked it or not. I kept wondering how much was based on Laura Bush and how much wasn’t. A well written book though, for sure.
After your encouragement at the HLS I might try some superfish…someday!
Love those sweet potato chips!! and biscoff!!
That soda sounds interesting! I never thought sodas could be considered healthy, but that one sounds like it is!

is there honestly anything better than the scent of Tide? i *love* fresh laundry.
p.s. your lantern jar is ADORABLE!
Laundry soap, that’s funny. Well everyone can use that.
I love those chips. I have been enjoying the Lime flavored ones and crushing them so I can make a taco salad. Yum. I just got the sweet potatoes one but haven’t had a chance to try them yet
I love when guys are responsible! I don’t think I could let a guy do the grocery shopping for me. I change my mind about what I really need when I get to the store.
Oh, and I love the lantern.
I am a plant killer!
We are on our fourth basil plant, and the last one’s corpse is still on the counter. We can’t seem to keep basil plants alive!
Do you have any advice? We keep ours inside. I’ve tried everything!
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Your basil look picture-perfect.
I’m so sorry to hear about your grandfather.
That’s hilarious that you ended up with so much Tide. I love getting stuff like that that no matter what you’ll always need.
I would love free samples of laundry detergent! You can never have enough!
I am getting more and more interested in tring sardines — that salad looks so fresh and delicious…but I keep getting images of teeny tiny fish in my head! Maybe one day!
My sister has never heard of Biscoff, but she loves the other biscuits that Lotus makes. I love the lantern cookie jar! It looks great!
Wei-Wei
Teehee, I just made a return to sardines myself last night! I tend to get the chilli or tomato kind, but I wish we had smoked ones here in Australia! Smoked flavour makes everything better
Mmm… Biscoff… YUM! I love your idea of re-using the lantern as a jar. Brilliant!
That’s the best cookie jar ever!!
I should get my dose of sardines soon…need all those healthy nutrients, right?
I loved the free Tide samples–I am going to put mine to good use this morning. It was SO great getting to meet you Kath..will you be at blogher san fransisco??!

I LOVE sardines. I brought so many gourmet cans back from France. Sardines are huuuge in Southern France. Which brand of Sardines do you buy here?
