Morning y’all!
My nose is running a marathon right now.
My oats are dancing a polka.
I’m feeling kind of blah, although the combo of clouds + Christmas music makes the lack of sunshine OK.
AND I found the debit card that went missing on Friday night – it was at a shop I visited a week ago!! Ahhh! That’s what I get for knowing my numbers by heart and rarely checking my wallet.
These oats were great, although after a week of rolled oats I noticed how Coach’s Oats are definitely not as sweet! Lots of chew though, which makes up for it.
The mix:
- 1/3 cup Coach’s Oats
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/3 cup milk
- Half banana
- 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
- Pinch salt
- Cinnamon
- 1/3 cup pumpkin, stirred in at end
- Crumbled Chocolate Cherry Hungry Bar
- Sunflower butter
Chestnut!!!!!!!!!
Have a fabulous Monday!

Your oats look delicious! I hope you feel better soon and find your debit card.
…she said she did find it in the post.
My bad for reading it too quickly this morning.
I did the same thing!
Hope you feel better soon! Time to make a pot of chicken soup?
As weird as this sounds, I’m digging all the brown-ness of that bowl of oats. It looks hearty!
Hope you feel better. Chestnut tea sounds great. Sounds like you need a good bowl of veggie soup for lunch!
Feel better soon! Your breakfast looks delightful, I did Raw Oats with trail mix and jelly mixed in! So good!
Gloomy day here too in Southern Ontario. I think you are right…this calls for cheery Christmas music. Your bowl of breakfast oats looks satisfying. Hope your day gets better!
Yay on the debit card! I “lost” mine once, but it turned out to be in the back pocket of a pair of jeans. That’s what I get for deciding to go grocery shopping sans-handbag! Have a great Monday Kath!
Fun bowl! The Polka dots sure got a smile out of me! Have a great day, Kath!
Yay for finding the missing debit card! I always hate the state of panic that follows losing something important like that! I hope you get feeling better soon1
That bowl of oats LOOKS exceptionally good! I’m so glad you found your card, there’s NOTHING better than that feeling when you’ve lost something!
so happy you found the card! that is the worst when you lose something like that…
the oats look delicious… hope you’re feeling better
I still need to try coach’s oats, I hear about them everywhere!
I really like that coffee mug! Super cute. Happy Monday.
Oh how I love chestnuts. So sweet and wonderful. Chestnut tea sound heavenly. I’m kinda jeals.
mmm don’t you just love sunflower butter?! do you have a favorite? I’ve only been able to find sunbutter and would love to experiment and try others. FEEL BETTER SOON! Lots of veggies, liquids, and soup. I’ve got some great veggie soup recipes at http://www.fromseedtostomach.com if you need some inspiration.
Trader Joe’s is my favorite, but Sunbutter is pretty good too!
Ah good to know. I haven’t tried theirs yet, but I will!
I always toss my debit card in my pocket after I use it and forget to put it back where it belongs… then it takes me forever to remember where I put it! Its always such a relief when I find it!
Oats are the best dreary morning breakfast food, I think.
I need to try coach oats! Looks fantastic
I love that mug…I have one that’s really similar. Enjoy your day…just got back in from a HOT run. Pics later on today
Pumpkin oatmeal…the best way to start the day!
Chestnut tea sounds great. Is it decaf?!?
No it’s a black tea
Yikes- my debit card went missing about a month ago, but then I found it in a jacket pocket after a day of freaking out. Hope it turns up! Luckily you can usually get a replacement in no time!
I hope you feel better! Those oats look great! I’m glad that you were able to find your debit card! That is scary!
My first bowl of oatmeal of the winter season was eaten this morning. By me.
I added one banana and blackberries, with almond milk. Was it ever delicious! I will be eating oatmeal until March, when Spring shows its pretty little head. Then it’s back to cold cereal.
I’m loving the bright yellow placemat. Very cheery!
Glad to hear you found your debit card. Losing stuff like that sends me into a slight panic. It’s the worst feeling.
Good Christmas music pretty much has a way of making just about anything ok! =) Your oats look yum!
Kath, I recently stumbled upon this blog and enjoy it very much! As a newly nursing mama, nutrition has taken an even bigger priority in my life. I have begun to eat steel cut oats every day, and I have had fun taking cues from you by adding different things to my bowl for variety. Question for you, I am allergic to bananas, is there an alternative fruit to act as an emulsifier in those whipped oats? I am also avoiding my husband’s allergies right now in hopes of sparing our daughter, so nut butters are off the table. Any ideas are appreciated!
Happy Herbivore has an blog on substituting bananas – Check out her blog, she has a search button on the bottom of her home page and I think it’s the second listing. In the meantime, applesauce works well, silken tofu, (they have dessert varieties, mango, apricot) or avocado if you like that.
Frozen mango works REALLY well; also pumpkin and butternut puree maybe?
Welcome!! Roxanne and Jen gave all the suggestions I would have – with pumpkin at the top of the list!
Feel better soon! Christmas music makes everything better.
I HATE losing stuff (esp cards!!) but I LOVE the feeling of finding it again. SO glad you found it!
Hey Kath! So I work in a family run business and they are closed on a lot of holidays that other places are not: the Fourth of July, Christmas Eve, Easter, Labor Day, etc. Even missing those days can be tough on MY budget, so I was just wondering how your employees feel about missing an entire week of work? I wouldn’t be able to pay my rent! I know everyone needs a vacation, I just feeling some empathy for them and their bills. I really hope this didn’t sound snarky, as that is definitely not my intent.
Most probably that’s when the employees use up their vacation pay? So they’re not out a week’s wages.
A few things without going into too much detail because I think business decisions are somewhat private but… we’re actually having trouble staffing that week because everyone wants vacation time….we told everyone when they were hired that we’d be closed that week so it’s not a surprise…and we’re giving Christmas bonuses.
Definitely didn’t want to pry or seem nosy. Thanks for the reply, Kath.
It’s cool
You’re oats look yummy! I had mine the best way today…in the PB jar! So tasty and filling!
Mmmmm… I need to try Coach’s oats!
I hate losing my debit card! I have the hugest panic attack! I’d always misplace it when I’d be returning to college from home.
Do you use a milk frother to make your tea so bubbly?
Yup! From IKEA
I love your poka dotted bowl!
Doh! Shane knows his credit #’s by heart too. I always have him check for the cards! One time he left our debit card on the table after paying at a restaurant…so I always nag him now
Paige – Quote – “so I always nag him now”
Do it nicely LOL Because it may be you that leaves the card next time, and he will never let you forget it!
ohhhh maybe that’s why I feel like I keep wanting to put more toppings on my oats! (I’m eating coach’s too, but it’s still amazing)
And I hope you feel better, really quick!! Be strong and courageous, and have a warmth filled day~ ^_^v
Love your sunny linens!
Kath!
I never comment but I love your blog and thought of you when I saw this article: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/05/us/eat-more-kale-t-shirts-challenged-by-chick-fil-a.htm
I saw!! I say, EAT MORE KALE!
Do chia seeds ever bother your stomach?
http://faithfulsolutions.blogspot.com/
No, I’ve never had a problem
I had pumpkin oatmeal this morning too. There’s no better way to start the day!
Oh man, I always love your oat creations!! They make me so hungry in the morning.
