First, the beer. Smells like a cinnamon witch’s brew!
Second, the garden. It grows!
Chard, snap peas, zucchini, a lone tomato and butterhead lettuce.
And lastly lunch….
Leftover curried millet, root veggies + beans, shredded chicken, and tomato over romaine. With some Great Harvest Warrenton Breakfast Blast topped with brie!
I blew off yoga today. Didn’t feel like going. Workout [or not] TBD!
Back to work!

Oh you have some awesome veggies growing…jealous!
The beer looks so good! I bet it’s making the place smell great!
Seriously coveting your garden. My thumb is not green and we have racoons that love hanging out under our deck, so no garden for me
I loove brie cheese on salads. That looks fab! Can’t wait to hear how the beer tastes and the veggies from your garden!!
Im currently explaining to my boyfriend why he should start brewing beer. Its a start, right?
The veggie garden looks great – I am impressed considering you moved into that house not that long ago.
Awesome, awesome updates. But once you get past the wonderful young veggies, soon to be tasty beer, and fabulous lunch you notice…..
That bag on the chair next to Matt looks like some type of animal, “double take” doesn’t even begin to describe how many times I looked at it. It *is* a bag right?
Isn’t it nice how leftovers don’t really have to “go” together and are still awesome? No rules, just right! (Because Outback Steak House is always the first thing I think of when I think KERF)
Ha, yes it’s a bag!
There is truly nothing, and I do mean nothing, like being able to grow and eat one’s own veggies!
Priceless! I’m admitting right now though, that I’m slightly jealous that you get a longer growing season than those of us up in the northern midwest!
Cathy B.
How is your garden still growing? Up in Seattle it’s not doing so hot. Everything is on it’s last legs already!
Yay for the witch’s brew!
does matt follow recipes or make his own beer recipes?? hubbs is on his 5th batch of brew and loves it!
I mostly make my own recipes, but sometimes I’ll find some clone recipes of commercial beers that I end up making… I pretty much get all my advice from thebrewingnetwork.com, plus several books I’ve read.
I LUST for knowledge when it comes to beer. And everything else for that matter.
Oooo my husband brewed his first batch of beer earlier this summer and the house smelled divine for DAYS,! Need to get on his case to make another batch!
Not even gonna lie, the bread with brie looks awesome!
Great garden! Did you end up watching Gossip Girl yet?
Yessssssss. Amazing. Don’t know what to think!
brie! oh my heart…i love that stuff! i’m eating it with bread next time
Lucky you and Matt on your home grown goodies from the garden. I miss our garden so much.
The sound of the cinnamon brew… YUM!
I blew off my morning workout too. I’m trying to decide if I want to hit up the local greenway for a walk this afternoon instead.
You can’t go wrong with brie. And the garden looks amazing!
Beautiful lunch! Mine is in the oven baking right now
I actually did yoga today! First time in forever…I guess I did it for you! I am super jealous of the garden. Your lunch looks delicious too! Well, it looks like you are having a good day! Enjoy your afternoon!
I want Brie!
Can’t wait to see how the beer turns out!
I’m so jelous of your garden! If I ever get a house with a yard I’m going to plant away.
looks like a great salad!
Your garden’s coming along!
I wish I had one of my own..I’ll definitely start one soon!
Ooh, I bet that beer will be good! And look at those veggies! I wish I could grow veggies and brew my own beer, but apparently you can’t do that in an apartment in the city. Someday!
Look at those beautiful peas! But can yours pirouette? That’s what I thought.
They actually DO pirouette! Around the poles based on the sun each day!
You guys looks like you’re still having lots of warm sunshine over there!
Beautiful garden photos! I always tell myself I’ll go to yoga every day (typically after I get out of an amazing class that makes me feel awesome)…but I always find that I need at least 2 days off per week from it…otherwise I don’t enjoy or appreciate the practice and how I feel during and afterward as much:) Days off are good to recharge and have an even more amazing practice the following day!
Blowing off yoga is totally cool sometimes.
Even me. Someday.. eh.
Yoga shmoga.
hehe
Love your lunch. The chicken hunks look YUM. Also, I saw you scrambled eggs and apples? Holy moly gotta try it. I am currently roasting apples and potatoes to go with grilled chicken. mmmm Fall flavors.
XOXO
I have a random question for you. Where did you get your tablecloth that you often use on your outdoor table? I love it!
Oh my gosh I have no idea. Some store like Target or BB&B
You’ve got me craving some Brie!
I once bought the reduced fat brie from TJ’s… biiig mistake! When I cut it open all the cheese oozed out the spot I cut off. Water cheese = no bueno!
oh that salad looks great!
These pics make me long for summer days. Its still so dreary in Melbourne, Australia. I want summer fun in the sun!. you guys are cute.
Heidi xo
I really wished there was a Great Harvest bakery in Southern California. The last great bakery I went to that was near home was in Mammoth, that’s 6 hours away.
Oh wow – how wonderfully it is coming along!
I love gardens! It’s such a rewarding feeling to harvest your own food. Yummy eats today!
Wow. Love the garden pics. Looks like so much fun. Playing in the dirt and getting something tasty to boot.
Your lunch looks yummy, your garden is beautiful, and your description of the beer smelling like “cinnamon witch’s brew” made me seriously hope that fall is right around the corner in my neck of the woods!
Also, it’s great to know that even a healthy living blogger blows off a workout every now and again when you’re just not feelin’ it.
You should have a giveaway for some beer
So jealous of your garden! It looks lovely!
Good idea!! Except there have to be some bad legal implications..
I saw the brie and thought wow that’s a lot of butter.
What an adorable garden! It must be so rewarding to nurture and grow your own food.
Did Matt put those spices in the beer?!?! Is he making you pumpkin beer. Man, you are a lucky lady.
That salad is to die for!
Aww I miss having a garden now that I’m back at school. My parents have so many fantastic herbs and the best tomatoes!
Love all that fresh beer brewing!
I would love to learn how to do that.
All the fresh veggie plants are adorable, and your lunch? Oh my. So fresh and perfect. Love it.
Oooh, that lunch looks o-mazing! For some reason it seems a bit different than what you normally eat, but then again that’s fairly basic for you isn’t it?! Must be something about the colours or plating messing with my head…
Mmmm, cinnamon beer. Or is it pumpkin?!
I KNEW there was cake in that beer…now you’ve got to try it on tap!
