Matt’s alarm went off at 5:45 and by 6 I was awake too. While he showered a left to start the bake day, I donned my new Lululemon top and yoga pants and stumbled into the kitchen for a wee bit of breakfast. Half a Hungry Bar and a spoonful of peanut butter.
And then I was off to yoga! I met Sara + Eileen for a 7am vinyasa flow class so I can spend the rest of my day at the bakery. The class was a bit slow, but it matched the gloomy morning. I wish I could have walked there, but it was dark and raining. There’s a triangle of bad conditions: dark, rain, cold and if 2/3 are present then I let myself drive.
Post yoga-breakfast was a pumpkin smoothie bowl.
The Mix
- 1 cup pumpkin
- 1/2 cup Oikos
- 1/3 cup milk
- 4 ice cubes
- Cinnamon
- 1/4 cup raw rolled oats
Toppings: Praline Scuffin (!!), coconut, festive sprinkles
Sweet Potato Pie tea mixed with Roasted Marshmallow [both flavors from Adagio]. Interesting combo!
This pretty tea towel from Target reminds me of a cozy turtleneck
Have a spankin’ good day!

I think I did have a turtleneck that pattern in high school!
Sweet potato casserole tea
That would be an AWESOME cozy turtleneck. And now I feel like I’m going to be on the hunt for a turtleneck like that until I finally find one
it’s rainy and gloomy here in chicago as well.
i go back and forth on slow yoga classes. sometimes it’s nice to have a good stretch and relaxing 90 minutes, but at the same time, it’s frustrating when you’re in the mood for a sweaty workout! have a great day at the bakery
I’m right there with ya – if it’s cold, rainy, and gloomy, my mood needs a little extra to get me going! Exercise usually does the trick for me. Hope you have a great, productive day at the bakery!
There’s so much pumpkin in that mix! I love it. I just roasted a huge pumpkin and am looking for ideas.
Sprinkles! I love it.
Pumpkin Smoothie and fall sprinkles? So much Thanksgiving spirit!
Looks delicious, Kath! Good luck at the bakery today!
p.s. I have never heard of camel crickets until your recent posts (I’m from Minnesoooota). I googled them and just about had a heart attack looking at the pictures! Hope they leave you and your home alone!
I just posted about my own pumpkin smoothie…but mine was spinkleless. You win.
Working at my local GH tomorrow morning (5-8am before work
:)) and again all day Friday! WEEEEEEEEEE my favorite time of the year!
The weather is terrible where I live today too. I don’t like the rain. Your breakfast looks yummy! I love the addition of sprinkles
your pumpkin yogurt combo always looks so good, I’m going to have to give it a try sometime!
Yogurt Bowl looks delish!
I would never know it was a gloomy day – the sprinkles made it so cheerful. Lately I’ve been making my oatmeal with shredded apple – it is soooo good!
Cold dark and rainy in Topeka this morning, too. But TG day it’s supposed to be sunny and 68*. Nice day for a long walk after a good meal.
I’m not so patiently waiting for my first set of Lulu clothes to arrive soon!
Those sprinkles are so festive
I have a scoop neck turtle neck kind of shirt from express in almost that exact pattern/color.
I am hooked on those teas now! My favorite so far is the cherry!
I don’t even like sprinkles but they sure add a nice touch!
Good for you for getting in a little yoga before your busy day at the bakery! Bonus points for going even though the weather was gloomy.
I love the festive sprinkles. I love even more that you referred to them as “festive sprinkles” fantastic.
My mom bought me every turtleneck in every pattern possible. And for fancy occasions I even got to wear a dress on TOP of my turtleneck
First of all, I wish i liked to do anything in the kitchen because you do so much with pumpkin that I’m sure I would love! I just need someone to make it for me, and hubby won’t because he’s not a pumpkin-fan. (The horror). Also, I’m pretty sure I just discovered that there is a Great Harvest near me in Buffalo NY! And I have a coupon! I’m hoping to check it out soon!
Days like today make me want to crawl under the covers and never come out. Kudos to you for getting to yoga. A little something is better than nothing!
Liking the “triangle of bad conditions”. Good way of expressing it.
I’m really getting into tea, too. It can be very comforting.
Your brekkie is making me hungry for lunch already! Awesome job for hauling yourself to yoga despite all those negatives!
I LOVE yoga. I need some more in my life!
Kath is this the same “Copper River salmon” that you are always talking about??
http://copperriverseafoods.com/
Yup!!!
Doesn’t Target have great photo backrounds? Who wants to pay a fortune, anyway? I want that smoothie. Thank goodness it’s breakfast here in LA.
I laughed when I read about the “triangle of bad conditions”…and I really, really want some of your breakfast even though it’s almost dinner time over here. Have a good day!
Just checked out the website for the tea, every flavor looks so good!
Mmmmm pumpkinnnnn. My campus “grocery store” randomly had two shelves filled with what I thought were cans of pumpkin a few days ago. I was SO excited and was all set to buy some to put in oatmeal, until I got closer and saw that they were cans of pumpkin pie FILLING. ARGH!
Is a scuffin a type of muffin?? I’m so intrigued…
It’s a scone with a soft texture!
OMG. That sounds so good. I sometimes think scones are too hard…a scuffin sounds like the perfect option!
Your pumpkin smoothie bowl looks so good! Now I’m craving pumpkin!
What a pretty breakfast! Looks fab
Seems like it’s dark and raining everywhere today! I really wanted to take Niko for a walk this morning, alas, the rain was a-pourin’. Have a great day at the bakery!
Your breakfast looks like a delicious fall explosion! Love the festive sprinkles
I wish I had a yoga class around my area that early. While I don’t mind doing yoga at home, its fun hanging with some gal friends. Have an eventful day at the bakery!
I think smoothies are giving me gas buildup in my body. I can feel the gas sloshing around and I can’t belch or pass it. Plus, my ribs then spasm up with the trapped gas (so I get severe side stitches simply sitting, walking, whatever. Any suggestions?
Also, I’ve never eaten pumpkin before, should a newbie start off with a gradual amount (1 cup might be too much at once?).
Yes…I use about 1/2 cup in oatmeal. It is not sweet, so if you’re thinking it will taste like pumpkin pie, you’ll be disappointed! I love it though, and so does my almost-two-year-old!
The cold has hit today…the rain tomorrow…winter is a comin! All that pumpkin has got me baking pumpkin muffins…tis the season!
i seriously need to start adding sprinkles to my meals! it looks so festive and cheerful!!!
It is very gloomy and rainy here! I wish the sun would be out a little!

LOVE early morning yoga…easing into the day. And think the 2/3rds rule rules! : )
Praline Scuffin sounds delicious and I’ll bet it was an excellent topping for pumpkin-flavored breakfast smoothie – YUM!
Kath.. I love ya girl, but you are killing me with the creases in the linens…LOL… I so just want to come and iron a basket of fabric for you…
Your pumpkin smoothie bowl looks awesome!! Always looking for new ways to eat pumpkin!
Always love your sprinks
