Act II

Gifts2Blog

‘Twas very busy at the bakery today – the best kind of days!!! Not just because we owners know sales will be good, but because busy-ness is good for the mind.

I worked on a bunch of things, including some photos of our merch for an ad and arranging some of our new basket holders!! So convenient!

GiftsBlog

Late afternoon the presence of my company was requested by these two turkeys – Andrew and his girlfriend Aneesha!

IMG_1314Blog

We took them to their very first wine tasting at Pollak

IMG_1317Blog

****OMG YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THAT A SECOND CAMEL CRICKET JUST HOPPED INTO THE BASEMENT!!!!!!!!!!! MY HERO RESCUED ME FROM HIM. JUST LOOK AT THE SIZE OF HIM NEXT TO MATT’S FOOT!! FACT: THEY JUMP TOWARD THEIR PREDATORS TO INTIMIDTAE THEM [LEARNED THAT IN MY RESEARCH LAST NIGHT]

Karen and I shared a flight – the Cab Franc and Petit Verdot were my favorites, although I also loved the Viognier (but it’s just not white wine weather!)

IMG_1316Blog IMG_1318Blog

After finishing up working back at the bakery, we closed down for the night and headed over to Karen’s for Act II of Thanksgiving Week Celebration time.

IMG_1336Blog

Her friends Catriona and Jim joined us

IMG_1335Blog

We started with some cheesy appetizers and a few bottles of vino. One glass for me – I was the driver.

IMG_1333Blog

Dinner was a feast of grilled chicken breasts, salad (which I was in charge of – apple, gorgonzola, macadamia nuts and almonds dressed in EVOO and lemon, salt + pepper), roasted cheddar garlic and risotto.

IMG_1338Blog

This was the Organic Butcher’s herby marinated chicken – my favorite flavor!

A bit of Great Harvest pie for dessert!! Matt and I shared a piece –

We both have very early mornings and need to hop to bed. This week is quite the social occasion!

Random question: but how tall was Jim?! He seems to be towering over everybody else in that picture!

I agree, it is totally red wine season. While I love whites and roses, I can’t stomach them this time of year.

2 camel crickets 2 nights in a row? The horror! Sounds like you need one of my dogs to come over and scout them all out. He can find a bug hiding anywhere.

I asked my grandparents to pick up a loaf of Stuffing Bread and Cinnamon Chip on Tuesday or Wednesday since you Great Harvest Cville be open when I’m down. Should’ve added in cheddar garlic too! Oh well, guess I’ll have to visit again 😉

Crickets – YUCK. Maybe you should set off a bug bomb fogger thingy? I set one off in my apartment one weekend when I went out of town and I haven’t seen a bug of any type (knock on wood) since, and I was having massive ant invasions on a daily basis, bleh! I know it’s totally a NOT green way to deal with the problem, though!

You and I are EXACTLY the same when it comes to cave crickets!! Several years ago my friend and I researched them, and we found out that same fact. Ick!! I’m glad your Matt rescued you, though. ;-p My ex-boyfriend but best friend, Matt chased me one time with a cave cricket that was playing dead (!!) in his hand! On a better note, it looks like your evening was wonderful and the food just excellent. Can’t wait to read your posts today!

It’s hard to see the cricket in that pic, but the fact that I can even see it at all – I know it must have been huge. That would send me into an all out panic attack. And they jump towards their predators?! I hate bugs!!
