‘Twas A Dark And Stormy Night

tmp_share

Matt’s alarm went off at 5:45 and by 6 I was awake too. While he showered a left to start the bake day, I donned my new Lululemon top and yoga pants and stumbled into the kitchen for a wee bit of breakfast. Half a Hungry Bar and a spoonful of peanut butter.

And then I was off to yoga! I met Sara + Eileen for a 7am vinyasa flow class so I can spend the rest of my day at the bakery. The class was a bit slow, but it matched the gloomy morning. I wish I could have walked there, but it was dark and raining. There’s a triangle of bad conditions: dark, rain, cold and if 2/3 are present then I let myself drive.

Post yoga-breakfast was a pumpkin smoothie bowl.

The Mix

  • 1 cup pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup Oikos
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 4 ice cubes
  • Cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raw rolled oats

Toppings: Praline Scuffin (!!), coconut, festive sprinkles

IMG_1354Blog

Sweet Potato Pie tea mixed with Roasted Marshmallow [both flavors from Adagio]. Interesting combo!

IMG_1359Blog

This pretty tea towel from Target reminds me of a cozy turtleneck 🙂

Have a spankin’ good day!

it’s rainy and gloomy here in chicago as well.

i go back and forth on slow yoga classes. sometimes it’s nice to have a good stretch and relaxing 90 minutes, but at the same time, it’s frustrating when you’re in the mood for a sweaty workout! have a great day at the bakery 🙂

First of all, I wish i liked to do anything in the kitchen because you do so much with pumpkin that I’m sure I would love! I just need someone to make it for me, and hubby won’t because he’s not a pumpkin-fan. (The horror). Also, I’m pretty sure I just discovered that there is a Great Harvest near me in Buffalo NY! And I have a coupon! I’m hoping to check it out soon!

I think smoothies are giving me gas buildup in my body. I can feel the gas sloshing around and I can’t belch or pass it. Plus, my ribs then spasm up with the trapped gas (so I get severe side stitches simply sitting, walking, whatever. Any suggestions?

Also, I’ve never eaten pumpkin before, should a newbie start off with a gradual amount (1 cup might be too much at once?).

Yes…I use about 1/2 cup in oatmeal. It is not sweet, so if you’re thinking it will taste like pumpkin pie, you’ll be disappointed! I love it though, and so does my almost-two-year-old!
