I’ve had a little bit of a change in plans today. We had something come up this morning that had me up at 5am and busy [everything is OK – nothing serious].
I had a banana around 7am, had a free window from 7:30-8:30 where I surprisingly went out for a quick 3 mile run in some misty drizzle. Just finished up a delicious bowl of pumpkin apple yogurt!
- 1 cup Oikos
- 1/2 cup pumpkin
- Pinch cinnamon
- Pinch ground cloves
- 1 apple, nuked for 60 seconds
- 1 scoop peanut butter
- Sprinkle chia seeds
- Splatter of Cville Cluster
Gonna get a coffee at the bakery!

Have a smooth rest of the day! I was looking at the apple in the first photo thinking it was super marshmallowy banana.
I haven’t been to the grocery store since I was out of town for two weeks and I’m in dire need of yogurt – love the idea of warming the apple!
A little caffeine in some coffee will get you going

Enjoy your day! Glad you got a run in
5am is my usual, but i understand how it can be rough if you’re not used to it. Hope you have a somewhat relaxing day!
Normal for me, too!
My alarm beeps at 4:45… ugh.
~
I’m a 5 amer too and I love it!! Mornings are the best for runs, homework, and relaxing before work/school begin!
Used to be mine too – but I went to bed at 9:30 then – not 11:30!!
Pumpkin apple yogurt sounds ridiculously amazing! I’m really loving how your breakfast looks this morning. Have a good morning!
I made sweet potato greek yogurt recently and loved the new dimension it added. I’m so pumped for winter squash season so I can experiment with other yogurts!
glad you made it through a crazy morning! another beautiful breakfast bowl
Do you ever worry about the yogurt and heated up fruit not blending well…or cause clumping of the yogurt?
actually, yes, I do worry about that!!! I’ve been luckily lately
I know this isn’t regarding oatmeal, but I actually add yogurt instead of milk to my oatmeal after I cook it and it’s still hot, then let it sit for a few minutes before eating it. I thought it would clump but it doesn’t! It adds such a creamy texture to it!
Glad you got through a crazy morning! I hope the rest of your day goes smoothly!
ugh! 5 am?! Yowsers! Have a lovely day!
Mmmm. Pears might be tasty with that too.
Sorry you were up so early! That’s never fun to wake up that early when you’re not expecting it, but at least you started your day off with a run and a great breakfast.
Hope the rest of your day is a great one.
Hope you have a great rest of your day!
Love the idea of mixing apple and pumpkin first thing in the morning!
That yogurt looks amazing!
unexpected early wake up calls are rough :/ glad you powered through and didnt let it mess up your morning routine too much!
Yum. Pumpkin/apple/yogurt sounds like a fantastic combo.
I’m sitting here trying to contemplate whether to run as I’m getting hungrier looking at your pictures, lol.
I haven’t done a yogurt mix in a while and I thInk you totally just inspired me to do so!!
Hope you have a calm day now.
Enjoy the bakery!
Good idea nuking the apple to soften it up a bit. Stealing that one
I saw someone else make some pumpkin yogurt yesterday, looks delicious! Lol although yours looks way better with all the add-ins! Food genius…
I had a very similar breakfast! Overnight oat with Greek yogurt, Coach’s Oat (I have a lifetime supply thanks to your open sky deal!), and PUMPKIN! With cville cluster and banana on top
Hope everything is okay… Have a great (rainy, again) Thursday!
Great idea microwaving the apple, makes it nice and soft
love this breakfast!
aren’t the apples in there fantastic! loved it when I tried it the other day. I finished my small can of pumpkin this morning and it felt like a bit of a feat! The big one looks a bit more daunting. More power to you for diving into can #2!
This looks yum, a smaller portion would be a great dessert option!
Anything with the word “nuke” in a recipe is okay by me!
Oh yum, yum yum. I love microwaving my apples.
PS- coffee is better if you wait for it. he he!
Sounds like a coffee kinda day!
I’ve been following your blog for a few months now. It has really helped me with portion sizes. Anyway, have you ever had a honey crisp apple? I just had one myself and they are amazing!
Yup!! LOVE them
Busy morning! But it sounds productive (run, breakfast, ready to go.) Enjoy the rest of your morning and I hope it goes more smoothly for ya!
I love the idea of this yogurt mixed with fruit. Following your blog has been very interesting and great inspiration. I’m glad to see you up and running so early. Power on !
Thanks Mary!
5am IS early! I very rarely am up that early, even for workout mornings. I have trouble when it is still dark out and I am supposed to be waking up!
Instead of catching the bus for the second leg of my trip to work this morning I walked. It was cool and pretty and it felt so good. I love early morning exercise. Oh, BTW I got to work earlier than I would have by waiting for the bus.
woww I miss getting up that early! well kind of, haha. But the feeling you get is so good, the problem is actually being able to do it
Have a beautiful day Kath~
Mmm – I love the idea of that flavor combo. I’ve been dying to do pumpkin apple oats but was worried the combo might be strange. You’ve completely convinced me that it will not be
I loved the Coach’s Oats by the way! Had them this morning with PUMPKIN!! All that was missing was Cville Cluster granola to make it a completely perfect bowl
Thought this was cool – CNN Money listed dietitian as the #3 position in their “Best Jobs for Saving the World” article! Of course I write about it at http://www.EllaRDinLA.com or you could google it
I heard! Woo hoo!
Oooo…that sounds really good! Thanks for the suggestion!
I had a very similar breakfast the other day… yogurt, pumpkin, almond butter, and chopped warm apple. Yum! I hope your day goes smoothly…
Yum – that is the best-looking, chunkiest bowl of breakfast I have seen!
I love the nutrients and texture of chia seeds, but I feel like they always look like cigarette ashes on food.
Hmm, I’ve never thought to add microwaved apples to breakfast before, but that sounds like a great idea! Maybe I’ll throw some in my oatmeal tomorrow…
Wow! That looks delightful. Hope your day is going well.
That’s such an early day for you! You must be exhausted right now!
