The South is up in arms – it’s sleeting!!! And we might get some snow later!

IMG_1346 (640x427)

I think the wintery weather made my brain sleep too long – I didn’t get up until 8:30!?!!?!

Came down to warm up

IMG_1349 (640x427)

IMG_1350 (640x427)

Whipped up some oats…

IMG_1354 (640x427)

Sadly, this bowl of oatmeal was not good!! I think the underripe banana made it taste too starchy or something. And the wheatberries dried it out. I will do better tomorrow!

IMG_1360 (640x427)

Looks a bit like a Hersey’s kiss!

YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^ That baby roach is now paralyzed under a cup :(

Listening to some Ray Conniff while I get some work done, then hitting the gym before it closes down for a winter storm warning!

Ahh! Bring back the blue skies. Sunshine + cold is better than gray/sleet-y any day. The gingerbread oats look great. Seems like you found a new favorite. ;)

You should see how Texas reacts to weather like that!

EEK! Baby roaches (and all bugs) freak me the heck out. I’d be scared to sleep!

It is definitely snowing here in Northern SC!

I know what you mean – an underripe banana can really spoil a good bowl of oats!! They get all dry and yucky. Sometimes I find it hard to leave the banana out even when I know it’s not ripe enough yet but that is always a bad idea. Hopefully your delicious oats are back tomorrow :O).

I am a bit jealous of your cold weather. Here in Southern California it appears to be summer again! 80 degrees and not very Christmasy!!

I bet Debb’s pecan butter tasted great in that bowl! WE’re finally getting snow from that storm over the weekend and I can not wait

That’s so funny the gym closes for a winter storm! Here in Chicago, they don’t close down anything unless it’s the apocalypse! Ah, to live in a warm climate would be so nice!

Nothing here in Raleigh yet.. it’s cold and smells like snow but I don’t think we are gonna get much..

We to have those damn bugs in our house it drives me insane.. I bought a handvac so I could suck them up rather than having cups all over the house.. lol

I wish it was cold here! It’ll get cooler here this weekend but it will be hot by Christmas day. 80! Blah! I hope it snows for you.

Eww to roaches. I. Can’t. Stand. Roaches!! Bjfklfhwei. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with one. :-\

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for snow too! Charlotte and Gastonia close EVERYTHING down at the slightest drop of snow, so good idea getting to the gym before that happens :) Have a good, hopefully snowy, day!

In my excitement over finding oatmea recipes I love on your blog, I too made several batches of oatmeal with unripe bananas this week, and I believe “blech” is most certainly the appropriate response! Enjoy your sleety/rainy/potentially snowy Friday!

Yikes!

We have a winter storm warning for NYC I think too! Yuck!

I hope both of our respective cities calm down by next week. I’m flying to Florida via Charlotte! YAY!

Ahh!! Just seeing that roach makes me cringe. When we lived in an apartment downtown we had a MAJOR roach problem. My first interaction with one is when it fell on my face when. I. was. sleeping. I screamed bloody murder and spent the rest of the night with hubby’s arms over my face and the lights on until I could finally fall back asleep.
*shudder*

Show NO MERCY!! :)

I’m so jealous of your sleeping in! I was up at 4:45, just like every other week day!
Sorry your oats weren’t good…
And blech to the roach! Makes me shudder!

You are so funny with your coffee shape sightings! I actually look forward to seeing what you find every day now. LOL! And I am the same way with bugs. When I moved down to Texas and saw the size of their cockroaches, I freaked!!

It’s not sleeting in NYC, but it is COLD. Only 16 degrees when I went for my run this morning! Definitely a hot breakfast and hot coffee kind of day :-)

WOW! We are supposed to get a storm this weekend in Boston, but we are totally used to that stuff. EEEKKK @ the baby roach!

Reply

Dang, I hate when something you makes isn’t good. Such a waste.

If that snow come up to Boston and dumps more than a dusting…I will not be pleased. I will be pissed.

I can’t stand unripe nanners either.

I HATE roaches. After 3-sprays, our apartment is FINALLY roach free.

Happy Friday!

I live in Raleigh and just in the last half hour or so the atmosphere has changed dramatically…maybe it’s going to snow here after all! I wanted to go running outside this afternoon, but I guess I’ll have to watch the snow/sleet/etc. from inside my apartment’s gym…

39 Hallie December 18, 2009 at 12:54 pm

Bummer on the startchy banana…it can ruin a good yogurt bowl too! It’s funny because I have only lived in two weather extremes….in upstate NY they don’t close anything no matter how hard it’s snowing (well ONCE they did when it was really really bad, in the 3 years I was there) and in San Diego, we freak out when it drizzles. It seems like the south is nice because you get seasons but it doesn’t get TOO cold, for too long.
