I’m having a wonderful sleepy, rainy Sunday with Sabrina!!

IMG_6042 (400x600)

After checking out of my hotel, I wasn’t really sure what to do with myself and my giant suitcase. But luckily Sabrina was nice enough to let us chill out at her place. It’s nice to relax a little after such a whirlwind of a weekend.

We spent an hour chatting on her couch before we walked to lunch at this fabulous little sandwich cafe called Rybread!

IMG_6041 (600x400)

It was the PERFECT lunch spot! Salads, sandwiches, good drinks + desserts and funky colors.

IMG_6040 (600x400)

IMG_6043 (400x600)

I had a house salad with blue cheese, walnuts, cranberries and apples

IMG_6044 (600x400) IMG_6047 (600x400)

And I got the most delicious portabella and eggplant panini with pesto and mozzarella

IMG_6049 (600x400)

IMG_6054 (600x400)

Sabrina’s grilled cheese!

IMG_6055 (600x400)

Minty tea to sip

IMG_6039 (400x600)

And when we returned home, a cup of fruit for dessert

My flight tonight doesn’t leave until 9:30, so I’ve got more chilling to do before I head back to Virginia.

See ya friends!

5 Lindsay @ Lindsay's List August 21, 2011 at 3:50 pm

7 J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) August 21, 2011 at 3:59 pm

12 Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews August 21, 2011 at 4:09 pm

That sandwich looks amazing! I love mushrooms too : )

13 Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews August 21, 2011 at 4:11 pm

Whoops sorry I thought those were mushrooms on your sandwich.

14 Baking N Books August 21, 2011 at 4:56 pm

It is isn’t it? Portobellas…that’s mushrooms :)

A night flight? Wow – that makes for a long day!

15 Jillian August 22, 2011 at 12:43 am

*Portobello*, actually!
I think it’s cute how many people refer to them as “portobellas” 😉

16 Baking N Books August 22, 2011 at 7:02 am

! Oh my gosh – I think I actually have always thought it was “bellas” – 😉 – a feminine twist? Thanks for sparing me from future embarrassment :)

17 Kath August 22, 2011 at 7:36 am

I thought it was either? I say portobellO but spell check always makes me change it to A!

18 Jillian August 22, 2011 at 11:04 am

I like the feminine twist, personally :)

19 Chloe (In Fine Feather) August 21, 2011 at 4:16 pm

Eggplant & portabella sounds great! It’s so nice of Sabrina to let you hang out for a bit too :)

20 GetSkinny Go Vegan August 21, 2011 at 4:19 pm

21 Sabrina August 22, 2011 at 7:50 am

24 Rebecca August 21, 2011 at 4:39 pm

Hey Kath, hope you have a safe trip back to VA, your bakery, and your man! It was nice to talk to you a bit about being an RD :o) And I looooved having my first taste of GH bread. YUM! Now I can understand your love. If only they were around in PA.

25 Hillary August 21, 2011 at 4:40 pm

That sandwich is all of my favorite things rolled together (or pressed together, as it may be!)

26 Mary (Sisters Running the Kitchen) August 21, 2011 at 4:54 pm

i’ve always wanted to try out rybread. looks fantastic. i am actually going out to lunch with my friend tomorrow so we may hit rybread up! that panini is definitely what i would order…looks delish!!!

27 Sara @ real fun food August 21, 2011 at 5:03 pm

I’ve got to try a mushroom burger/panini whatever. I see them everywhere but haven’t had one yet!!

28 Shaya August 21, 2011 at 5:09 pm

Do you derive inspiration for the sandwiches you offer at Great Harvest from your taste experiences at other places? Slash how do you decide what goes on your menu? I’ve noticed that the sandwiches you talk about serving are different than the ones offered at MY local Great Harvest (I’ve been eying that curry tuna sandwich foreva).

29 KathEats August 21, 2011 at 7:22 pm

We just put sandwiches we like on our menu! And do think about our market, diets, and more.

30 Baking N Books August 22, 2011 at 7:07 am

If people requested a certain sandwich, would you consider adding those to your menu – even if wasn’t something you guys particularly liked?

31 Jessica @ Jess Go Bananas August 21, 2011 at 5:23 pm

paninis look awesome! You both look fabulous! :)

32 Katherina @ Zephyr Runs August 21, 2011 at 5:32 pm

Ah, Sabrina is glowing :) Nice to see so many bloggers together, I hope I can go to HLS next year!!!

33 Sabrina August 22, 2011 at 7:50 am

Thank you Katherina!

34 katie @KatieDid August 21, 2011 at 5:34 pm

You’ve been making me sandwich envy all weekend… grrr gluten free bread just isn’t the same :( But it looks like a cute place! Have a safe trip back!

35 Christine August 21, 2011 at 5:49 pm

Have you tried Udi’s millet-chia bread? It has about 5g fiber & 5g protein for two slices and has seeds and some chew to it. My favorite GF bread by far. . . my whole foods just started carrying it last month.

36 katie @KatieDid August 21, 2011 at 6:23 pm

Thanks for the recommendation, I have only had the white Udi’s, never the millet-chia kind but it sounds really great. I’ve grown to live without bread for the most part because of taste/price but will definitely be keeping my eye out for this.

37 Maria @ Beautiful Busy Bee August 21, 2011 at 5:43 pm

An eggplant panini is seriously the combination of two of my most favorite foods. :) I love your sunglasses, so chic!! :) Have a safe trip home girlie.

38 Laura (Blogging Over Thyme) August 21, 2011 at 5:44 pm

Hmm..eggplant is my fave. That sandwich is making me hungry. Cafes are some of my favorite spots to hit up in a new city. They are always so quaint and cozy and you get a real feel for the place.

39 Meg August 21, 2011 at 5:48 pm

I am drooling! Those sammies look wonderful and so do you ladies :) BEAUTIES

40 Hannah August 21, 2011 at 5:48 pm

For some reason, the look of grilled mushrooms also icks me out, but I know they’re super tasty! 😛

41 Emily August 21, 2011 at 5:48 pm

Delicious looking lunch! Have a safe trip home :)

42 Amy* August 21, 2011 at 5:49 pm

Cranberries and Blue cheese are a great salad combination.*

43 Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga August 21, 2011 at 5:53 pm

portabella and eggplant panini with pesto and mozzarella = wow that looks great

and those pillows are so YOU. Those are “Kath colors” if I’ve ever seen some :)

And Sabrina is adorable and what a trooper she is!

Enjoy your last hours in Philly!

44 Sabrina August 22, 2011 at 7:51 am

Thanks Averie! Any tips on making it through the last month of pregnancy happily?

45 Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga August 22, 2011 at 12:53 pm

Just knowing you will soon be HOLDING that sweet baby in your arms any day is what I focused on. You’re so close! :)

46 lynn @ the actor's diet August 21, 2011 at 6:03 pm

yum! i’ll look out for that place next time i’m in philly.

47 Ashlyn August 21, 2011 at 6:23 pm

Awesome HLS recap posts, Kath!
I have a question! Did Meghann really plan the WHOLE thing or did you all help too? It seems like she took a lot of the credit, but I wasn’t sure if it was a joint process?
Also, this might be too personal, but is there commission for you all for having the event? I’ve always been curious about that!
Looks like a fun time!

48 KathEats August 21, 2011 at 7:23 pm

Meghann planned it all and is the only one getting compensated for her time. The rest of us got free tickets and travel as tribute to our foundership. We decided it was easier for one person to plan it, and most of us were too busy to want to take on planning another year.

49 Kristen, Sweetly August 21, 2011 at 6:24 pm

what a bummer of a flight! i hope you enjoyed your time at hls. safe travels home.

50 Kait @ One Love Run August 21, 2011 at 6:32 pm

looks like quite a yummy lunch! might have to stop by there when I am in town next week. And I will def be stopping by Great Harvest in Wayne – I always used to stop in there for free bread samples when I went to school right down the street!

51 Pete August 21, 2011 at 6:32 pm

I love panini. That “Savannah” looks particularly delicious. I may have to attempt one myself.

52 Jennifer August 21, 2011 at 6:41 pm

You seem to find such unique little places to eat. Those sandwiches look delicious! Hope you have a safe flight home. :)

53 Balancing Sylvia August 21, 2011 at 7:14 pm

That sandwich sounds AMAZING! Have fun hanging out and hope you have a safe trip!

54 meghann August 21, 2011 at 7:15 pm

Small world. I have been following your blog for a long time, and tonight I see my family’s restaurant on your site. Thanks for the positive reviews! I wish I was there today. Glad you enjoyed!

55 KathEats August 21, 2011 at 7:24 pm

No way!!! Very cool

56 Sabrina August 22, 2011 at 7:52 am

Meghann I was bummed you were not there and neither was Ryan!

57 Cait's Plate August 21, 2011 at 8:38 pm

Oh my gosh both the panini and the salad look absolutely incredible. A good panini is the one thing that I have a hard time finding around here…I really should just start making my own!

So glad you’re getting some time in with Sabrina – enjoy yourself!

58 Katie @ Peace Love and Oats August 21, 2011 at 9:21 pm

that’s nice to have such a good friend to hang out with! I love lazy days when you have nothing to worry about! I hope your flight goes smoothly!

Portobellos are one of my favorite veggies and I love them on sandwiches. That looks fantastic. Grill marks always get me. Yum!
