Going to work was FUN today!!
Making videos is actually one of the most stressful things I do because they aren’t able to be edited if you only get one take (such as in a cooked recipe or if you hate wasting ingredients as much as I do!) And they require thinking ahead and make-up and showering and ingredients and the right lighting and bright ideas.
BUT when you get to drink Bourbon at 4PM on a Tuesday afternoon for "work," what’s not to love
These were videos for Good Bite and I think they turned out pretty good. At least the foods did!
Even the cameraman enjoyed himself. Drinking the props.
Lesson learned: Do the food video before the cocktail video! We both got a little tipsy trying out the recipe!
Video #2
Dinner tonight was planned to be easy knowing we’d be busy video cooking. (Have you noticed I have already gotten off track of my meal plan? It always happens.)
Simple Maple-Bacon-Date collards with Maple Baked Beans from a can!
They were awesome and blindly you could have convinced me they simmered in some lady’s crockpot at a church supper all afternoon. I used to hate baked beans at church suppers, but now I lurve them!! The Whole Foods brand has simple ingredients and tasted great. Couldn’t have been easier.
Mmmmm, greens.
Every good meal has a side of bread.
Bread makes the world go ’round.
I wanted a refill on bourbon, but I turned to seltzer with basil instead. Perfect mocktail!
On an Open Sky call now, then evening time! We have something exciting happening on our living room floor right now
You’ll see in the AM!

Cocktail O’Clock at 4 sounds good to me =) Have a great night!
Maple bacon date collards? Now those are some greens I can get behind!
Mmm interesting dinner.. i love greens and beans too though and throw dates and maple in there and sounds like a winning notion (i’d leave out the bacon for vegetarian sake, maybe faux bacon would taste okay??)
i wanna watch this video now!
those collards sound amazing!! Yummy!
What recipe was the bourbon for? I’d like to know because it sounds like it might be perfect for College Football Saturdays
I can’t tell you yet!
Nothing is more fun than being able to have a drink in the afternoon
[And the ‘it’s-my-job’ aspect makes it even more fun, I bet! Mmmmm greens
I had a big ol’ pile like that for breakfast this morning! Along with eggs, it was deeeelicious. Glad you had fun today
I’ve never thought about adding basil to a drink – great idea!
Those collards sound so good! Can’t wait to see the videos!
Ohh great idea to add basil to the seltzer!! Such a perfect savory drink. Have a great night!
Mmm sometimes good baked beans from a can just does the trick.
That slice of bread looks delicious! It’s so thick and “real” looking, not the processed bread pre-cut in a bag that lasts three weeks before it starts to mould.
What a fun video idea!! Dinner looks delish as always
I love that you got tipsy while filming! So funny
I love how creative you are with your dinners, making even something as simple as greens look like a gourmet dish!
hope your boss is not reading your blog, ha!
looks like its a great day out there for you. its pretty yucky here in nyc.
It sure looks like you had a great time today. I can’t do hard liquor at all. My nose goes red – it’s a dead giveaway!
And…100% agree: Bread DOES make the world go round.
Where did you get that awesome camera stand gadget?
It’s a Gorilla pod: http://joby.com/
what are you watching on tv tonight? if anything
Glee is being DVRed!!
What kind of baked beans are they? I love TJ’s Baked Beans and think they taste totally homemade.
Maple
Work = food + cocktails…. jealous!
Oh, man. There’s something about that thick, doughy slice of bread with butter that looks soooo delicious! I love my carbs!
Glee is AMAZING! BTW I have a huge crush on Brendan James.
I love baked beans — but I’ve never tried the WF brand. I’m sure its great though.
And I’m saying this in a nice way but you LOOK totally tispy and buzzed in your photographs. What a riot!
If only we could all be so lucky! Ah well, it’s nice to know some people do love their jobs this much!
You are doing so many people a service by what you do. Visit chimommas when you want to view good clean silliness.
re lr floor: Did you guys get a DOGGIE??
…or (fun, but not a wriggly bundle of excitement) a new rug?
Good guess!
cocktails at four. sounds heavenly. maybe i’ll do that tonight too…
Mmmm, I love baked beans that have been cooking all day in the crock pot! They’re the best.
Wow, I don’t even know if you can call food and cocktails work
I’m excited to see what you’ve got planned for the AM!
Agreed- every meal’s better with bread!
I could absolutely live on bread alone and be happy. Well, maybe I would need some bourbon to wash it down…
seltzer with basil, good idea!
I love that picture of you in the kitchen making your food video – was that the tipsy picture? You’re too funny!
Cute pics… my work day looks nothing like that!
Can’t wait til the morning to see the surprise!
You look great in orange!
Thanks!
Looks like a fun day on the job!
Bourbon and baked beans, what could be better?
glad you like being in front of the camera so much! i do too, obviously
oh fuN!
i really want to try a video tutorial they look like so much fun! but a lot of hard work too of course.
I used to wait tables and we’d have wine tastings on occasion, BEFORE the shift. I am a light weight to begin with so after tasting 6 wines or so, I would be 3 sheets to the wind. I probably messed up so many orders.
Looks like a fun day at work!
I had greens and beans for lunch today! One of my favs. I stumbled upon your blog about a week ago and absolutely fell in love with it. I have been on my clean eating journey for about 2 months. I am looking forward to trying out some of your recipes!!
“Simple Maple-Bacon-Date collards” … do tell? I’m till learning to get more creative with greens, how did you cook these? Thanks!
Hey Kath,
I am interested in your tripod… where did you get it from? What is the name of that spiral wired tripod? I have been looking for something like that for awhile…
Thanks
Janet
It’s a Gorilla Pod
Ooh! I can’t wait to see the video!
Ah, I miss the days of 4pm cocktail hour…then I had children, now it’s more like a 5th of Jack ; P just kidding…maybe…
Anyway, the greens sound delicious! bacon and dates! Come On! amazing…
What a fun (and tasty) evening!
i love baked beans – i tried my friends homemade for bacon baked beans the other day and they were amazing
Cocktail hour = work? Sign me up!
i love your job too…i think i’d love it even more if it was mine too!
Hey Kath,
All mac should come standard with this program.
If you have a mac you can edit videos and piece them together in the program called ivideo. That way you can take out parts you don’t like or have multiple takes
I’m a Windows girl and have plenty of video editors! But when you’re actually cooking, you can’t re-shoot pouring bacon into a pot without starting over with more bacon.
I just checked out your video’s, very cute!
And I agree with the comment “you look great in orange”.
bourbon infused videos? i think im liking where this is going!
are those collards? anything with bacon is infinitely better in my book!
Bread does indeed make the world go round.
your dinner looks great! I love baked beans and will have to try them from WF’s. I agree, bread does help complete the meal!
Beans + bread = 2 of my favorite things AND they make a complete protein. Win, win!!
cute post. I like the pic of you kind smiling/smirking in your orange shirt. Very Kath. Can’t wait to check out the videos.
