I am flying around with fun things today. First, a killer Body Pump class. My Monday class is Pump Challenge, so I just call it Pump and we do a different style of weight lifting, but Friday’s class is true Body Pump (with Vanessa!) and we have all the classic music and moves. On my way to the bakery later, I hear one of the CHEST tracks in the car. It is incredible to me how these songs are conditioned for me to flex my muscles and I can almost always figure out which muscle group it is!
After a quick shower, I turned around to head to Great Harvest to meet Connor and Laura for lunch! Laura writes Blogging Over Thyme (love her name!) and is in culinary school. Connor emailed me in advance, as he was planning the trip to Cville, and meeting Laura for lunch was a surprise!! I love surprises.
I feasted on a Pimento Cheese sandwich on Cville Crunch, 1.5 pickles and some sweet potato chips
New products of note – Hot Cross Buns and Jalapeno Cheddar Scuffins! I tasted a bite of bun for dessert.
Alex sez….Easter is almost here!
After lunch, I drove to see Dr. Tate for some chiropractic work. I’m not really having any troubles, but I believe in keeping the body flexible and open during pregnancy to prepare as best one can for delivery. So I’m starting to see him early (and try to fix some lower back pain I had after 2x car trips). I will lie on a table and have my body adjusted any day – I love the power of human touch! Tate worked on my hips and neck, which feels much looser!
I came home to find a package waiting for me from Grandma Buzz!!!
As a writer and librarian, she is wasting no time getting started on this little boy’s book collection : ) Frog and Toad was a favorite of mine as a little girl! Long before VHS, I actually have a cassette tape of my voice reading this book to a tape recorder. I’ll have to figure out a way to get that digital to share!
I have a little work to catch up on and then it’s Friday afternoon at the movies!

OMG those Hot buns looks AMAZING!!! And I totally remember reading that book as a little girl too, love it!
I’ve always wanted to go to a chiropractor to just align everything, even though I dont have much to complain about. It’s so important! You need the right posture while eating hot buns, no?
Those hot cross buns look delicious!
Oh my gosh! I remember that book!!! I am definitely going to stock up on some of my favorite books from when I was little when we have kids too. Reading is super important plus it’s cute to be able to read the same books that you read when you were a child to your own child.
I saved my daughter’s favorite books from when she was a little girl for her children. So my grandbaby has a head start in the book department.
Man, those pimento cheese sandwiches always make me drool! Looks delish!
that sandwich looks delicious! and how fun the lunch was a surprise for her! So nice of you!
I am going to the movies in the later afternoon too….lemme guess — Hunger Games too?!!
Sandwich looks good!!
BodyPUMP is the jam. For sure. (But I might be biased, seeing as I teach it 4/x/week hah.)
I, too, bought books for my grandbaby long before he was born. I bought him a new one yesterday about dinosaurs (they just went to a dinosaur exhibit). We librarians are like that.
OMG! I LOOOOOVED that book AND movie!
Aww cute prezzie! I totally know what you mean about being conditioned to flex your muscles to BP tracks! I’ve been teaching RPM for 3 1/2 years now and as soon as I hear the songs outside of the gym, I can’t stop the choreography from running through my head!!
This is the first picture of you from the front where I really think you look pregnant!
And you even wore blue today.
Are you going to see Hunger Games? I hope so! I’m going tonight!
I LOVED those books!!
I LOVE that book!
I did a lot of good things while pregnant (prenatal yoga, a lot of walking, biking, and weights), plus lots of exercises that I learned in childbirth classes, but I do wish I’d looked into chiropractic. Good for you! Curious if he has specific training for working with pregnant women?
Yes, it was part of his curriculum
When I had my twins, my Mom sent me all of my favorite childhood books. I enjoy reading them just as much as they do now! One of my favorites was “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and of course, “The Giving Tree.”
I totally remember frog and toad…my Mom is a librarian too! Our house is overflowing with books
love your blog – i’m new here!
frog and toad are favorites for my boys and i! i have three boys (had my first when i was 30!) and am looking forward to my 40th birthday in 11 months. when i turn 40, i will be a clean eating machine, running regular 5Ks, and your blog has been my inspiration! enjoy your pregnancy and keep posting those beautiful, drool-worthy pictures of cereal – oatmeal, and uncle sams with gorgeous amounts of fruit! ~liz

looks like a busy and fun day! I totally used to hate on “chiropractors” but after getting my entire body and muscles worked on plus back alignment i was a BELIEVER!
You should look into yoga for pregnancies! My roommate is indian and she said that if you do certain yoga moves/exercises everyday that delivery will be a piece of cake!
Just started pre-natal yoga earlier this week!
Those cinnamon buns are gonna haunt me for life!!!
In a good way *
Ahh that book brings back memories! I have collected so many books for my little ones that were my favorite too
I just recently digitized all my cassette tapes. It’s easy if you get software like Roxio. Just plug a tape player or walkman into your computer and you can record it! That’s so cute!
FRIIIDAYYYYYY automatically fun day
Oh gosh, nostalgia – I grew up with all the Frog & Toad books!
Relatively new reader, first time commenter…just spent all of yesterday marathoning your BERF posts and I’m hooked
Thanks for your first comment!!
Kath – is the weather supposed to be really bad there tomorrow? Am thinking of a trip to Monticello, but might delay if the weather looks iffy.
60% chance of rain
I’d just look at the doppler before you go?
Oh I love Frog and Toad! It’s going to be so fun reading this with your little boy
The sandwich looks yummy! I love pimento cheese.
Those chips look delicious! As does that cinnamon bun!
There is nothing better than Frog and Toad! Great start to the collection
how perfect is a surprise friday lunch date! food looks delicious as usual
I’m getting ready to throw a baby shower, and am planning on buying a book shelf as my gift, and then I’ll have each of the ladies bring their favorite book!
(My mom was a librarian, so I got the love of books from her!)
Hi Kath! First, I wanted to mention you were the first blog I started to follow back in the day! Reading your daily adventures in food & oogling over your photos completely changed my world of blogging! I believe I had googled oatmeal recipes – and the rest is history!
Just wanted to say that I just noticed your “comment policy” above (love it!). Back when you announced your pregnancy I read through all the negative comments you had been receiving and was absolutely floored. I couldn’t believe the things people were saying. I’m way late on this – but I really respect the way you handled all that. You’re a strong woman & a wonderful role model!!
Thanks Kristen
No one wants to spend time in a place were folks aren’t respectful.
All of the GH goodies looks so yummy!! I am also super hungry right now, which does not help!
Turquoise is your color. You look very pretty!!
Those cinnamon rolls look so freaking yummy. As for Frog and Toad. There is a ride at Disneyland called the Frog and Toad ride. One of the cars ran over my foot when I was little. Traumatized, still (not really!).
mmmmmm! Great Harvest Cinnamon Rolls!
Oh- I love Laura’s blog and have always thought that the name of it is so clever! I haven’t read it in a while (sometimes even blogs I love get lost in the big blog world). Thanks for the reminder!
I was wondering- what did your doc say about Bodypump? Can you take it all the way through your pregnancy? I’ve heard some women say that they weren’t allowed to lift more than like 10 lbs when they were pregnant. I’m especially concerned about this because I am teaching 2 classes a week and will be trying for a baby soon… Thanks if you have any info to share!
My doctor didn’t have any concerns – I think the lifting might be a high risk pregnancy thing. Like if you have placenta previa or cervical problems, lifting is much more risky. But I also am not doing much squat weight at all – mostly because it just didn’t feel right. I still use two larges, but don’t have the mediums and babies I did before
The arms are never too heavy to lift either.
I body pumped all the way until 40 weeks and 3 days. Nothing wrong with preggos lifting at all!
Thanks so much Lauren!
Oh Frog & Toad!! LOVE!! Have a wonderful weekend Kath!
Maybe you could practice by reading them to Pumpkin. A lot of cats find frogs and toads very interesting….
What a great grandmother your little boy (to be) has! I love books, too, and have so many fond memories of my grandmother sendings me books (she worked for Doubleday–score!!). What a lovely, lovely surprise. I just found that so touching.
gosh those bakery goods look so good….!!!
Did I already tell you reading your blog always make me hungry?
I loved Frog and Toad as a kid, too!
Did I miss the “it’s a boy” announcement?! Congrats!
I LOVE the Frog & Toad books! Actually, Frog & Toad Are Friends was the first book I could read by myself
Frog and Toad are the BEST! I think the little bun in the oven will love these when he gets here!
I LOVE Frog and Toad!! Definitely a classic from my childhood. One of my close friends recently had a baby and didn’t want a baby shower so my gift to her/the baby was a collection of some of my favourite children’s stories! I love children’s lit.
Sweet potato chips! LOVE! <3
Frog & Toad, what fabulous memories. I, too, had the cassette tape that went with them. My girls listened to it a few years ago. We all laughed so hard at the story about the swimming hole and when they laughed at Toad’s swimsuit. All of the cute little giggles!
Omg! I totally forgot this book existed but I remember it very clearly from when I was younger! I love how childrens books get passed on for generations
