I had quite a fun morning listening to music on iTunes and Twittering for new ideas!
Totally obsessed with "Hide + Seek" by Imogen Heap!!!!!! It makes me want to move around like a bird, as is documented here:
As a result, my paper is coming along VERRRRY SLOOOWWWLY. GUF. I’m about halfway through my research [on caffeine + lipid metabolism] and haven’t even started writing. My goal of having this done by tonight is fading….
That super duper bowl of muffin oats kept me stuffed through lunch hour and I got a little hungry at 1:30 and decided to take a break for lunch. I probably could have gone at least another hour before really getting hungry though! Not sure why today the usual combo was so filling. Perhaps because I ran first?
Lunch was a bowl of chocolate!!
I think I’d like to rename this Hot Chocolate Chili because it’s just like a bowl of hot chocolate with veggies and beans!
The last of the Food Should Taste Good limes
And to intentionally finish the meal with more chocolate, Intentional Chocolate!
Ahhhh if only paper writing was as fun as blogging….

Trying to write a paper on the computer is so difficult when there are so many fun blogs out there to distract you, like yours : )
Wow that lunch looks great
I was enjoying reading your tweets earlier while you were searching for music – I love the Alexandra Burke version of Hallelujah too. I’ll check out Imogen Heap – not sure I know that one
Hot chocolate chili sounds good enough for dessert
Thank you for allowing me to break up my afternoon and giggle at your dance moves
Love it.
Good luck with your paper!
Funny you should mention that song – I’m listening to it right now and I love it too! Itunes is dangerous for me whenever I’m trying to be “productive” because even if I’m “just going to listen to a few songs” I’ll spend an hour on there. Whoops.
I have Eat, Drink, & Be Vegan but still haven’t tried that chili yet. I remember the first time you made and have wanted to ever since! Argh – I’ve got to find some time to make it!
hmmm that chili looks perfect for this chilly day here in Boston
love that song too!!!
I’m so glad I’m not in college anymore… I got so distracted writing papers!
Your pics of you “dancing” are cute
You look like you were having fun. I am so jealous!
Dancing around to fun music is so much better than writing a paper
LOL your dance made me giggle out loud at work!!!
why write a paper when you can dance like a bird?!
If you like Imogen Heap, you should check out Frou Frou. It’s the group she was in before she released her solo album with the song Hide And Seek on it that you like.
KERF is gettin funky with the dance moves!!!
you can do it! It’s hard to work when there are so many other fun things to do
Kath, I have a question that is very unrelated to your entry (I hope that is ok!).
I’m in the process of choosing paint colors for my house, and I love the green and neutral tones that I’ve seen on your walls. Can you tell me what colors you used?
My daughter and I found Imogen Heap a few years ago and absolutely love her – so unique!
I would be in so much trouble if Blogs were as popular (maybe they were and I didn’t discover them yet) when I was in college. I get distracted so easily when I’m writing papers! I loved the twitter music suggestions! Since you and Mama Pea and many other bloggers love EDBV I am going to give it to some of my Vegan family members for Christmas!
Don’t give up though!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!
Those first pictures are so cute!
I’ve actually gone someplace without internet access just to keep myself from being so distracted. Good luck with your paper!
Ha ha, love the bird moves! Good luck on finishing your paper…get work, ha ha.
If paper writing was as much fun as blogging,…. I think the world would have a few more Ph.D.s!
I love chili, but I’ve never had chili with chocolate! Yum! I’ll have to try it.
Sorry the name Hot Chocolate Chili turned my stomach
I still want to try it but I don’t think I’ll call it that
LOVE the pics! When the page first loaded (I’m on my iPhone) I thought you were doing yoga
. I never would have guessed dancing like a bird
I completely agree with you on paper writing/ general school work never being as fun as blogging… since here I am reading my various blogs rather than doing homework.
your bowls are so cute!
Please tell me you’re planning on posting the recipe of this chili soon… like, post-writing-your-paper soon
You crack me up with those poses Kath. Good luck getting farther on the paper this afternoon! And that chili just looks perfect on this chilly fall day (at least in Wisconsin!).
Imogen Heap reminds be of Laurie Anderson’s song O’Superman from ’89 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzYu88jIDY The Hot Chocolate Chili looks delish!!
….the more you eat, the more you ‘TOOT’!
Haha, when we were young we used to say, “Beans, beans, they’re good for you’re heart, the more you eat the more you….FART!” hahaha
Thanks for the awesome chili idea!!
I didn’t know you were a dancer! It is CLEARLY evident by your silly dance moves. I see a training background in the bird moves… please tell me you were a dancer growing up?
Do you watch So You Think You Can Dance? A few pieces using that song:

love that song, its been stuck in my head all day! so funny!
Unfortunately I can’t find a better version of that group dance video but it was seriously inspiring to watch.
I totally set my self timer and took pictures of myself dancing in my kitchen today. I look no where as cute as you, but oh, the things we do for readers.
Love that song too! That chili looks great.
hey Kath, I was reading WELL and these recipes sounded right up your alley– http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/12/dan-barber-knows-vegetables/#more-18419
– and neither involve onion! Also, have you tried Dogfish Head Midas Touch?
haha, you are too funny! Looks like tree pose in that first picture!
I like that song too! That chili sounds pretty awesome!!
Still totally intrigued by that chili!
Ahh, research. My least favourite part of any paper. For some reason I would never schedule enough time for the research part. The sitting down and writing part is actually the easiest. Good luck on getting it done!
Imogen is THE BEST! Love love LOVE her!
that chili looks awesome! i am making chicken chili tonight! (or really the slow cooker has been making it all day!) i love your bird dancing!!!
I LOVE that song! We used to play it in my store all summer long. Glad to find another chocolate & chili lover, it really is the best combo of flavors. Glad i can get mole sauce here in Los Angeles too!
Good luck on your paper!
That chili has been on my meal planner for December since this summer, the chocolate just feels Christmas-y to me! And I love Immogene Heap, all of her stuff is wonderful.
I LOVE that song too! Chocoate & chili is an amazing combo…I’m a lover of chocolate in all forms!
Good luck with your paper!
Thanks Kath, now I’m going to be singing “beans, beans, the musical fruit…” all night!!
Good luck finishing that paper! Maybe more bird-dancing will help with the writing process.
Gosh I’m jealous of that chocolate-filled lunch. Hot chocolate chili would be perfect today… it’s getting cold. *shiver*
Good luck with your paper! Just keep chuggin’ along and you’ll make it eventually.
First drafts are always the hardest!
haha you’re so silly. keep the paper coming!!!!! you can do it!
Now THAT is nerd kerf
i like that imogen heap song a lot too. have you heard the new regina spektor album? quite good.
Imogen Heap is awesommmmmmmme
I love those bowls and place mats – you must have tons! I’m going to ask for more for Chanukah…
I LOVE Imogen’s music! She is so creative! You should check out her new album called Ellipse. There are a few songs from that album that are great for working out, most notably: “Earth”, “Tidal” and “bad body double”
Check them out if you want
That chili looks good, by the way
Oh I remember those days! Papers can be so tough if the motivation isn’t there. Hopefully the dancing will help you get inspired!
Papers are tough to write. I always wait till the last minute!
Yummmm chili. Chocolate chili? Inteeeeresting!
Hide and Seek is such a wonderful song!
love the bird dance moves
I seriously need to make that Chili !
Julie,
It’s from Eat, Drink & Be Vegan so I can’t publish it
rhodeygirl,
Yes! I was a dancer from 1st grade through college. Tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, a wee bit of hip hop at the end, and even a few years of pointe and gymnastics (neither of which I was very good at). I’m a tapper at heart!
jenner,
Looks delish! And I have not tried the Midas Touch – I’ll keep my eye out at the bars!
lynn,
Yes, listened to a few of her songs today sent by Heather!
Bridget,
Thanks for the recs!
Kath
great soup!
jenna
great idea with the chocolate chilli!
Kath! I’m so in love with Imogen Heap’s Hide & Seek right now. Have you ever done any modern or contemporary dance? I feel like this would be a great song for a modern piece.
Good luck with your research. I’m really interested in lipid metabolism and would love to know what you find out!
Oh I love Imogen Heap! She has such a pleasant voice doesn’t she? She needs no instruments to make her music/voice sound amazing!
Chocolate?! Hot Chocolate Chili! I HAVE to try that some time. What a great combination.
The combination, chili with chocolate. And it works. Well of course it does!
Thanks for the creative combo.
I’ve never heard that song before, but I love it!
I was obsessed with Hide + Seek a few weeks ago as well – so much so, that I downloaded the whole Imogen Heap album. It’s good!
