Violently Whipped

Scored again with another Matt-created breakfast! Don’t know what has spurred his interest in 6am running, but it’s my new favorite hobby of his. Breakfast follows! Maybe I’ll get up with him to run sometime soon…

IMG_7235Blog

If you haven’t been able to tell from words on a screen, we are both pretty sarcastic [and some of us can be melodramatic-sarcastic] people. The other day when Matt made oatmeal, I mentioned that he violently whips the oats – much more than I do. In fact, did you know Matt was the original inventor of whipped banana oatmeal? The very first texture discovery happened in this post.

The Discovery Of Banana Oatmeal

“Of course we’re in a huge rush, so husband made banana oatmeal. WOW! It’s really good. He just added finely chopped banana while it was cooking and it kind of melted in. I’ll have to see exactly how he made it so I can post the recipe.”

I explained it further in this one [just spent 20 minutes reading old breakfast posts to find it!]

Matt just has a special touch. So when I said he whipped it violently, he wanted to show you how he actually stirs it in a video this morning:

Violent Banana Whipping

I was a little off, wasn’t I 😉

IMG_7237Blog

This bowl was an incredible blend of whipped banana oats with cottage cheese stirred in at the end, topped with Nuts About Granola Mexican Hot Chocolate and Nuttzo!

IMG_7240Blog

Have a great day! I’m headed north up 95!

So basically the whipped oatmeal technique is very similar to good risotto technique. Makes since that it would make a really creamy bowl of oats.

I tried your banana oats trick in the stove… I thought it was DELICIOUS! I’ve been doing it every since instead of the microwave. I do it mainly for the natural sweetness. I’ve done it with pumpkin and bananas and sometimes apples with raisins and cinnamon 😀 I also notice that it makes the oatmeal more thicker and voluminous…

Your oats look infinitesimally more attractive than the ones I made today… I managed to achieve GREY.

FYI, don’t cook your oatmeal with frozen blueberries added at the beginning, then add an egg. It tastes fine but good grief, it doesn’t look appetizing at all.

LOL. I got a huge laugh out of the video of Matt “whipping” the oats. I kind of expected a little bit of furious stirring….just a teensy bit. Sean and I are extremely sarcastic to each other–so much so, that a couple months into moving in together, I instated a “Sarcasm” Jar because I thought our (well, my) sarcasm was getting a little bit out of hand (we’re usually sarcastic to each other, in a fun way). Since the jar made the appearance both our sarcasm has gone down quite a bit but now I need to instate a “Swearing Is Not For Fun” Jar.

Those oats look delicious! I haven’t had oats in ages (I used to have overnight oats religiously before I started commuting to work). I want to make oats in the Zojirushi but am afraid of making too much. Our cooker says we need a minimum of two cups.
