Lions + Lambs

Arrived at Gram’s!

Just like March, we were in like a lion and out like 3 little lambs.

IMG_7248

My drive was pretty good and full of snacks and Pregtastic podcasts.

I nibbled on trail mix at 10:30 [other snacks are for the rest of the trip]

IMG_7245Blog

And then this was lunch enjoyed at noon –

cheese + jam sandwich

IMG_7242Blog

A pile O grapes

IMG_7243Blog

And the second half of an Odwalla smoothie refresher [I liked the other flavor I tried better]

IMG_7241Blog

At Grams we had a few more snacks – hot tea and grapes

IMG_7246

And a toffee –

IMG_7247

On my way out the door I was still hungry and felt I was missing some protein, so I steamed up a slice of smoked salmon and ate that on an end piece of bread. [Microwaved salmon is NOT ideal, but it’s supposed to nuke the bacteria and it doesn’t taste bad.]

Normally we’d be on our way to the mall or for a power walk, but I’m feeling pretty tired so I’m going to rest for an hour until we’re due back at Gram’s for a party! I have a hotel room to myself and it’s loads of fun!!

    Have a great trip!

Cheese and jam sandwiches are where it’s at. I literally just ate (buffalo chicken cupcakes, thank you very much!) and that open-faced sandwich shot is still making me drool.

Love cheese and jam!! Used to always have mine as a grilled cheese with raspberry jam on top though but still the same concept!

You would be banned from my house if you microwaved fish. I might reconsider if you brought toffee.

LOVE smoked salmon, but I don’t think I can do the whole cheese and jam sammy thing! Something about the sweet and cheesy flavours just don’t sit right in my head… I’m glad you enjoyed it though! And have a lovely rest. I don’t travel often but I absolutely adore good hotel beds with copious amounts of pillows!

Kath, a peek at your bread (which btw looks soo delish) reminded me what a freak I am to must have the jelly spread to the very edges so it’s included in every bite. LOL

    Have fun at Gram’s!

Fish of any kind is banned from ever being microwaved at my house. We had to throw a microwave out because the smell would not go away no matter what we did!

Enjoy your time with your Grandma!

Help, I’m missing something. What does “Just like March, we were in like a lion and out like 3 little lambs” mean? Obviously, I know the idiom about the month of March, but I’m missing what it could possibly refer to here.

Hmm, what is the difference betweent the regular Odwalla smoothies and the refreshers? Also, seeing the photos of the chocolates is not making my wait for dinner any easier.

Best thing to do in a hotel room that you don’t have to share… Jump On The Bed!!!!

Ah, one of my favorite and easiest recipes (and always gobbled up) is a cheddar cheese and strawberry jam appetizer: Combine 8 oz. coarsely shredded cheddar cheese, 1/2 c. chopped pecans, 1/2 c. mayo, 1 bunch of chopped green onions, and a dash of red & black pepper. Arrange on serving platter. Top w/ strawberry preserves. Serve w/ crackers like Wheat Thins. (Easily doubled) Great w/ wine at a party! For a bite, use a cheese w/ jalapeno.

I have never had a cheese and jam sandwich but I do love cheese and jam…go figure! A fave is heating up raspberry jam and then pouring it over a slab of brie…also love Manchego and orange fig jam together…yummy! Thank goodness it is pizza night tonight…I am loading mine up with cheese with all this cheese talk!
