Roll With It

I spent a few hours this morning updating my blogroll!!

Blogroll

To be honest, the only reason I have a blogroll is because when I took the one I started in 2007 down a lot of people requested it back! I had no idea you guys used it. A reader let me know this week that it was drastically outdated, so I went through to clean it up a bit. I can’t believe how many blogs were on there that had not updated since 2009 or even early 2008!! Oops! It’s all fresh and new now. [My sister wasn’t even on it!!]

My blogroll has always just been a collection of both blogs I read and those of people who have requested to be on it, so if you do want me to add you [I really hope I’m not jumping in over my head here…] send me an email to Katheats at Gmail dot come with your blog has a hyperlink like this: Kath Eats Real Food. Please use the subject: Blogroll. If it’s not easy for me to copy and paste then I’m not adding you! Also, you must have updated your blog in the past week to make the cut : )

After all the rolling, I went to BodyPump! Bike there, pumped it up (my 45 minute express class) and biked on home. I haven’t been to BP since before Montana!

Lunch was awesome:

That towel set is absolutely beautiful! I’ve yet to have Siggis. I really want to try it out. I’m hoping they’ll have it in the grocery stores when we move. We’re moving to Portland next month.

I commend you for having a blogroll at all. That’s a major pain I haven’t yet tackled on my own blog yet!

My grandma used to embroider towels, pillowcases, and so many tablecloths and things like that. I love seeing these pics of yours!

What an undertaking it is keeping your blogroll, recipe tabs, etc. all up to date. I have tried to keep mine up to date but time and links can get away from me in a hurry 🙂

I would be honored to be on your blogroll and emailed you.

I often overlook beans as something to add to a salad, but when I do remember, they always taste delicious, not to mention adding a great protein and fiber boost! We’re also trying to do more with nutritional yeast, and I like the simplicity of just sprinkling it on.

Ok, can I just give my 2 cents on the whole blog roll thing? If I’m looking at a blog roll it’s because I want to know what blogs that person reads. I think that requesting to be put on a blog roll is kind of silly. I would rather just know whose blog interests you vs. who emailed you requesting to be on your list. Seems too much like a popularity contest or something… everyone want’s their blog listed on the popular blogs. Why not be a bit more selective?

    • KathEats says

      February 3, 2011 at 5:43 pm

Well different people do blogrolls different ways. Some just do a small number that they love and read, others do a long list. I’ve never wanted to exclude people, so I’ve kept a long list. I don’t want to single out just a few! I figured a long list would be a good place to go to click on a lot of blogs at once, especially if you’re looking for more to read.

I love that response. Not to mention that these are people that are taking the time to read you (or any of the “big” blogs in general). And really that in itself is special or nice to “give back to”…? I don’t know 😉

I agree with Sarah R as far as being selective goes- when I look at someone’s blogroll I think of it as an endorsement. By adding a blog to your blogroll you are saying that you agree with/like the content and think your readers would enjoy it.

Not that it’s not very generous of you to add the blogs! Just sayin’…

Just sent you an email! I’ll have to try and track down pinto beans – they’re hard to find in Australia, and I miss them!

Oh my goodness I love cute linens! My grandma got me an incredible tea towel a few years ago and I’ve been in love ever since.

You salad is inspiring me right now.

i think if there was one thing I’d want if I were ever invited to your house for a meal, it would be salad. You make the BEST salads.

Love the tea towel. Reminds me of my childhood when we used to do those embroidered tea towels. Karen will remember – probably not your generation although I think your mom loves antiques to maybe you had those at your home.

I often come across other interesting blogs from the comment section. I don’t use the blogroll as much.

I am trying really hard to eat greek yogurt and organic yogurt but I am having such a hard time with the texture difference. My mind just makes me think its old and I shouldnt be eating it. Did you have this problem when you made the switch?
    Thanks!

I still get about 10 hits or so a day on my site from being on your blogroll. Today (well, Feburary 3) I got about 115, for no other reason than you called out your blogroll. In the immortal words of Mr. Spock: fascinating.
