My Lunch Fell On The Floor

More floor!!

IMG_2834Blog

I couldn’t resist…and it really is the best place for photography

 this !

IMG_2825Blog

I can only imagine how amazing the porch is going to be in the summertime!

[Do you see our gutter on the left? The chain of upsidedown bells? The plastic gutter just didn’t go…love the modern feel of this one!]

IMG_2832Blog

Lunch was a big salad plate. I was at the bakery before lunch and had a few bites of Spinach Feta and a Ginger Cookie piece off the breadboard before heading home for lunch, so I tried to make lunch smaller than normal. Sure doesn’t look any smaller!

IMG_2828Blog

Salad with toast, egg cooked in the microwave (eggsploded – don’t think I’m going to ever do that again..), clem and a salad with mixed greens, carrots, avocado and tamari for dessert (=salt soaker!)

Put your egg in a egg cup holder (microwave-safe) with water (top of the egg still showing). KEY: * Make sure you prick a little hole in the egg before microwaving! – this is key to stopping eggplosions). Then microwave for ~35 seconds; wait a few seconds; and do another 10-15 seconds; wait; maybe another 10 seconds. Check egg for ‘done-ness’.

I feel like that always happens to me too. I sometimes snack too much and I’m not too hungry for dinner but hungry enough to have something. I try to make a smaller meal with salad and then I realize the salad or whatever is taking up the whole plate. I think it’s because when I’m preparing dinner I always have similar portions so I’m used to putting the same and I always keep adding more toppings. Eyes are bigger than stomach I suppose 🙂

Love the stain on the porch floor. I’ll make the same comment I made on Nov. 25 about the porch which was: “Is the porch screened in? It looks like the sliding doors have so much space underneath that lots of bugs and mosquitoes could get in.” And your reply was: “It’s not finished.” I’m still not understanding how the amount of space under the sliding doors has changed with space to let bugs in. Help me understand.

Hey Donna, yes it’s screen in all the way now (except for under the floor – that has to happen last). What you probably can’t see because it looks like a gap is the 2-3″ of black rubber weather stripping that is now attached to the bottom of the doors.

You might be able to see it better in the second photo here: https://www.katheats.com/j-o-y

Or the vertical one halfway down this post: https://www.katheats.com/she-likes-it

The stripping sweeps the floor, so it should be as good as we can get it! I really didn’t want swinging doors.

Hubby and I used to vacation in the Dominican Republic all the time (before he got – and beat – melanoma) and they had those kinds of ‘gutters’ at our favourite resort. They’re so charming! Pretty to look at when it’s sunny and gorgeous when they’re overflowing with rain. When we buy our own house we’ll definitely be investing in a few, even if they’re just for show.
