Something is missing…
[I’m still mad about the damage the porch painters did to our cork floors! The replacement tiles are not sun worn or showing any signs of color change..]
Relocation…
And in its place…
A new bond was formed!!!!!!!!! My life-long dream is to have a fridge-top, freezer-bottom appliance. Just like the Barefoot Contessa. We were partially spoiled at our last house when we had a french door fridge and I learned how wonderful it was to see my food at eye level. So when Matt and I bought this house, we set up a side savings allotment to save for a new fridge + stove [stove = need because our current one is as basic as they come; fridge = pure want].
This month we reached our goal and cashed in! This Samsung Stainless Energystar was actually $500 cheaper than we saved – including 10% off at Lowes this week on all major appliances! Hint: the stove is coming later!
Our previous fridge was nice, but still the old-fashioned style. At the moment it is a beer fridge, but we might Craigslist it…the brewer is still deciding what his dream brewery is. Is we do sell it, even more $ saved!
I spent a while this morning arranging food, cleaning shelves (new and old fridge gunk), and removing stickers. GAH why are stickers so annoying in 2012 when there are so many cool stickers out there!? Luckily my Scour Off takes them off well.
I worked on house stuff for a while and then sat down to do blog stuff for a while and it was 1pm and I wasn’t hungry, but I was getting nausea. I’m not one to forget to eat, but pregnancy is throwing me a twist.
Luckily I found some good eats IN OUR FRIDGE (!) and felt better after lunch on the porch.
I made an egg, cheese + jalapeno sammie
With pear on the side
And a pile of salty almonds. Love these.
Honestly, tea to drink.
2.5 hours later, and I’m already thinking about a snack!
Back to the fridge..

Yep. my mom is obsessed with your french door fridge as well
Looks great! I don’t remember reading about the painters damaging your floor but that is NOT cool! Maybe you can eventually order a completely different color and make a pattern?
Oooh, your new fridge is beautiful! That’s so exciting! Stickers really are such a pain, though, I hate having to scrape that annoying adhesive off. I love salty almonds, too – I try to stick to raw for the most part, but my great aunt tends to give me salty almonds and I’m always happy to snack on them.
I like that style of fridge, but not when you have to open one door first – that annoys me.
You can open either with this guy
So jealous! My goal in life is to have a huge kitchen with nice granite countertops and a nice big fridge, that’s probably sad but it’s true
Oh my gravy, I love your R2D2 lamp, and your food always looks absolutely amazing.
It’s Matt’s from his childhood!
Congrats on the new fridge! I’m so jealous. It looks freaking amazing! I never even knew I wanted a french door fridge but now I do. ^_^
Beautiful! That sticker stuff is incredibly annoying though–that they wouldn’t use another kind of sticker.
super gorgeous!! I grew up with a freezer bottom fridge and totally forgot about it until just now. It was fantastic you’re right!
I just got my first top-fridge, bottom-freezer a few months ago too. Honestly, it’s such a better design!
A french door, freezer on the bottom is my dream fridge, too! When we bought our house and were fridge shopping I had my heart set on one but it turned out it wouldn’t fit in the current location. We are going to re-do our kitchen soon and a new layout to fit a french door fridge is a must!
Lovely fridge! Funny too, this morning, I pulled up a Craigslist apartment that we might look at, and the kitchen picture looks like they have that exact same fridge you just bought (it looked very nice for an apartment kitchen). Organizing food in a new [super clean] fridge would be just my kind of project
I’m so jealous of your fridge!!
Lucky you! We can’t wait to upgrade to the French doors. The house we just bought has a side-by-side, which totally sucks! We’re happy it’s stainless and has the ice/water dispenser, but the inside is tiny. I could fit so much more in the old standard fridge we had at the condo. It doesn’t help that I have to keep two 12pks of soda and a tray of Gatorade in there for the hubs. If we don’t upgrade before the farmers market season, there won’t be room for all the good stuff!
Any don’t we all want to have a lovely kitchen like Ina? Complete with doors that open to a fantastic garden where you can just wander out to gather flowers or a snip of fresh basil.
Congrats on the fridge! We remodeled last year, and I went for two separate units…100% fridge and 100% freezer. I thankful I had the space, because as much as I cook and shop, all 23 cubic feet each are filled! We won’t mention the garage fridge also being pretty stocked too.
Can’t wait to see the stove. It seem like the baby is liking jalapenos!
Nice fridge. So do you guys have all stainless steel appliances now? Not sure if the rest of your appliances were stainless or not.
Yes. Our dishwasher is stainless (came with the house) and our stove was white and is going stainless/black.
It is amazing! That is on my wish list!
Oh wow, what a beaut!!!! I love double-door, freezer-bottom fridges and am TOTALLY getting one in my next house. Just the thought of all the lovely things you can put inside makes me vibrate with excitement lol! (Yes, major nerd here!) Enjoy your new toy!
awesome new fridge! want should definitely come before need every once in a while. and yes, ina is such a doll.
*SWOON!* I’m not a homeowner (in fact, I’m temporarily homeless while I’m traveling abroad!) but I’m drooling over that fridge! Enjoy!
I’ve always wanted a fridge like that too. Unfortunately, the past two houses have had stainless steel side by sides (which I despise b/c of it’s width restrictions) that are brand new and so I just can’t justify getting rid of a perfectly good fridge and spening mega $ for the one I want. One day…
There are few things I love more than a clean fridge. Something therapeutic about wiping down all those shelves and bins and having a fresh place to start stacking food…
Congrats!
awesome fridge!! It’s the little things in life right?
Fridge looks great! Lunch on the porch, pear and almonds – you know what is good!
Love the new fridge!
Being pregnant, I cannot palatte eggs right now, unfortunately. I wish I could for the protein, though.

Suffering some major fridge envy.
nice! my fridge is so pathetic. seriously, it doesn’t even have rails for the doors!
It’s also my dream to have a refrigerator with a bottom freezer some day. I had one for a short time but it had to go back because the fridge was just too big! It looks beautiful.
we have a fridge top freezer bottom as well, and i LOVE it!! your stainless steel one is beautiful too! enjoy!
I have dreams on having a fridge like that! We just bought a new stove and dish washer last year, so the fridge is next! But I am determined to save for the gorgeous one that I want (just like yours!!!)
Congrats!! Love it and the style. That’s the exact style I’m going for when we buy our appliances.
I have appliance envy right now. Wow, that is a gorgeous!!! fridge!!!
I actually had a fridge like that, top fridge with double doors, bottom pull out freezer, when I built my house in Myrtle Beach and picked out everything from the trim to the fridge, but sold that house in ummm…2005. And I still miss that fridge
Enjoy yours!!!!!
Your lunch looks so good, now I’m craving a pear! I’m visiting my parents at their new house in Colorado and their fridge looks just the same! Although I think it’s a different brand.
Pretty new fridge!!! Feels good to have a fresh, clean fridge huh?
That R2 lamp is beyond awesome!!
You are so lucky you will never have to bend down to get veggies out of the crisper ever again. Congratulations on your beautiful new refrigerator.
We have the same frig and love it!!! Actually, I think our daughters love it even more… just wait till your kid(s) are big enough to pull the freezer open on their own and help themselves to ice… it’s hilarious.
Ow! ow! Now that’s a hot fridge… I feel your longing for a new one. I am currently dealing with an apartment sized fridge and stove. The stove kills me! Enjoy!
Jealous of your new fridge! That would certainly not fit in my small SF apartment. And I love your lunch because it has so many different foods; those are the best, little tastes of everything!
I LOVE your new fridge! Gotta get one of those. And, we loved seeing one of our fav. staples in your fridge…TJ’s Organic Ketchup…..can’t live without it in this house.

I have never seen a split door fridge like that. It looks great. And I also love those almonds. Enjoy the new fridge
you all are awesome savers! congrats on the beautiful new fridge!
Nice upgrade! About the flooring, can you hide the darker cork tiles under the fridge and stove? I can’t tell if the ones under the fridge were too dirty to put in the main floor, but just an idea…
That’s a thought, but I think the ones under the fridge are just as dark from lack of sun exposure. And we’d need help – I don’t want to make the floor worse!
[Good idea though!]
Congratulations on the great budgeting and the great fridge!
I have a really dumb question: I’ve noticed that you never have to put coasters under your beautiful jars on the porch table, or under your iced tea bottle? Is there no humidity there? My wood tables would definitely have water marks all over from that! Just curious.
I’m just lazy!! I probably should
Your fridge looks great – nice and shiny. So how do you live without an ice crusher (fine and coarse) and without nice icy cool fridge water well filtered. My wife would go into convulsions and pound me to a pulp if I messed with her giant side by side and its source of crushed ice for her smoothies.
Let us know how much fun it is to dig through the freezer after six months. Let the fridge shine on happily ever after…
I am a girl with super sensitive teeth. I never EVER drink ice water – or even chilled water. Ouch!!! Matt just adds a few ice cubes from the freezer to his, so this wasn’t a problem for us.
I love the Barefoot Contessa’s fridge, too! Congrats on getting your lifelong dream fridge
LOVE the new fridge!!! That’s my favorite kind of fridge!!
That is one hot fridge. lol
What a beautiful refrigerator!!
Eggs sandwich is one of my favorite lunch/snack!
Love that style of fridge
I don’t even have my own home yet and I KNOW it’s what I want when I do!
Stock up the old-fridge with homemade freezer meals for after the baby comes, then you can always sell it later.
Love the new fridge! It looks so roomy!
Oh! Nice fridge! I hope someday to own a really nice fridge. For now I have to put up with whatever happens to be in my rental when I move in…
niiiice new fridge
We have one like that but ours makes ice…at the front of it …one side pumps out cold water and the other side ice cubes
Ah love the new fridge!
Your fridge looks just like mine! I love having everything at eye level, and insist sometimes it’s the reason why I eat better. High five savings and organization
I have the same fridge. Great fridge. The only downside, is the height between the shelves doesn’t let you store tall items well. You will get used to buying short items. LOL!
We have this fridge and I love it! Especially love having the water spout inside and not out the outside door!
I love your new fridge SO much!! Can’t wait to see the new oven! =)
Great new fridge! That’s the kind I want, but I don’t like the stainless steel, I’d go with white.
I love the fridge! It looks awesome!
When my fiance and I eventually get a house a stainless steel fridge is definitely a requirement!
We bought the same exact fridge (except in white) in December. I love it!! My old fridge would freeze my lettuce and other veggies. New stove is planned for Dec.
We have a similar French door fridge, and I absolutely love it! ( had a side-by-side one for a short while and hated it. Made the company switch it out). I am the same way about chilled drinks. I rarely use ice, so the same ice maker in the bottom of ours is no problem. Plus, I have back problems so I love having the refrigerated (most commonly used items) at eye level and within reach. You just don’t open the freezer as much as the fridge!
Your new fridge is almost identical to mine! We have a Samsung french-door as well, but the interior components are a little different (we have one skinny, double-wide drawer under the produce drawers instead of the extra drawer higher up). I LOVE it – so convenient to not have to stoop over to get fruits and veggies!
Yay! your fridge is running! Both literally and figuratively
My fiancé and I just got the same fridge (or looks to be the same from the pictures)! Well, when I say just, I mean back in July. It’s great! My only complaint about it is the freezer closes a little too quickly on its own. Seems like I’m always rushing to pull out a thin mint before the door closes on my hands
Anyway, hope you are enjoying the upgrade!
How fun! That is quite a lovely fridge!
Glad to see you got your dream fridge!
Congrats on the appliances! I am renting a place with that same fridge, and I have to say I hate the freezer setup. It’s hard to organize the freezer as everything just gets piled up in the bottom drawer and is a PITA to rummage through since I have to bend over! Maybe you’re shorter than me and it’s not a big deal though.
WOOHOO NEW FRIDGE!!!! Our new one is also a Samsung, and we LOVE it so far! That’s so sad about your cork, do you think you (or a professional) could sand it down and stain it like they’ve been saying on YHL? I was sooooo nervous about moving our appliances in after our cork went down, but thank goodness everything went okay. We still need to have you guys over!
Ohmy, that fridge looks beautiful and spacious, congrats!
R2D2 totally monopolized this post for me….now I want one!
