Thought Process

January 17, 2011

[10 minutes of silence]

Me: “I don’t want to go to bootcamp”

Matt: “We can skip it. We’ll go to the Y tonight instead”

Me: “Oh I do NOT want to do that!”

Matt: “Well then we should go this morning!”

Me: “Let’s just skip both.”

Matt: “I want to do one or the other”

Matt “Did you decide”

Me: “I am visualizing the options”

Me: “OK, we’re going to bootcamp”

And we did!

Of course, I was so glad. We had a lot of fun! 25 minutes of 60 second strength intervals and then repeat it all for a 50 minute circuit session.

Then home for a rush, rush, rush breakfast. [I am still rushing to type this!!]

Yogurt bowls!

Siggi’s was on sale at the Bozeman Co-Op – I got my favorite flavor

Topped with a banana, Quaker Oatmeal Squares, Crunchy Buckwheat Granola, trail mix and peanut butter.

Not sure peanut butter and orange-ginger really go together..

Super weak brown water. I need my coffee more than anything from home!!

Time to make some sandwiches!!

I like the idea of visualizing the options. That can help me a lot too. Plus, you always know you will feel better after a great workout. :)

2 Trish @I_am_Succeeding January 17, 2011 at 9:36 am

I just tasted the Siggi’s yogurt…it is really good!

3 Stacy @ Every Little Thing January 17, 2011 at 9:37 am

Have fun at sammy school today! I bought my first Siggi’s the other day (on sale at WF too! Almost half off). I did not get that flavor though and I’m blanking on what I got, but I’m pumped to try it!

4 Ann @ Day by Day January 17, 2011 at 9:39 am

Orange and ginger is definitely the best flavor I’ve had too. I haven’t tried them all, but that one is great! I saw the guy who started Siggi’s on TV last week talking about how he couldn’t find any yogurt in the U.S. that tasted like the yogurt from back home in Iceland, so he started making it. Cool story!

5 Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey January 17, 2011 at 9:39 am

Good for you for getting up!
I did not. :(
My alarm went off at 4:55 this morning… I hit snooze, and then decided to reset it for 6! I figured that since I am only working a half-day today (weird MLK day schedule/snow “make-up”), that I could workout this afternoon.

6 Katelyn January 17, 2011 at 9:40 am

I’ve always wanted to try a boot-camp style workout! Sounds like a great time:)

Slash orange-ginger mixed with pb would be a tad strange..but would probs be better with orange-cranberry! It’s my favorite new combo;)

7 Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat January 17, 2011 at 9:40 am

Hehehe I don’t know what Matt’s voice sounds like, and I’ve only ever heard yours on Youtube, but that conversation made me laugh! Have fun at sandwich making school! :)

8 Allie @ Healthy Balance, Healthy Life January 17, 2011 at 9:40 am

Visualizing is such a good idea. I have trouble getting up early. Even if I wake up early naturally I tend to let myself fall back asleep. This morning though I visualized catching up on my Google Reader and having a nice cup of coffee–that helped me wake up!

9 Michele @ Healthy Cultivations January 17, 2011 at 9:41 am

Siggi’s is SO good, but oh boy, I never buy it unless it’s on sale either. $2.69 for one little serving of yogurt is ridiculous. Glad you went to bootcamp and were glad you did so.

10 Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday January 17, 2011 at 9:43 am

Good for you for getting out of bed! That’s really the toughest part.

11 Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg January 17, 2011 at 9:43 am

I love it that you have Matt to push you to go– my husband would DEFINITELY just roll over and say, “Skipping it is fine!” ha!

12 Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) January 17, 2011 at 9:44 am

Haha, I talked myself out of working out this morning. I had the same conversation, but in my head, I decided to move Monday’s workout to Saturday. Orange ginger sounds like a perfect combination in yogurt. Have fun making sandwiches today!

13 Kati @ Living Well January 17, 2011 at 9:45 am

Too funny…way to visualize! I like that :)

14 Marina January 17, 2011 at 9:45 am

I wish my bf would talk me into workouts, and not the other way around 😀

15 [email protected] January 17, 2011 at 9:50 am

It can be so hard to get up for a workout in the morning but so worth it when it’s done! Especially when it frees up your evening!

16 BB January 17, 2011 at 9:55 am

How funny that they forgot to change the year to 2011 on your coffee cup. Oops!

17 Misty January 17, 2011 at 11:06 am

I wondered if anyone else was going to point that out so I didn’t have to. I can put down my Red Pen of Doom now, before I make red marks on the work computer.

18 Kara January 17, 2011 at 9:57 am

It’s so hard to imagine my husband pushing us to get out of bed early to workout…he’s definitely more the “Let’s skip both” kind of partner :)

19 Heather (Heather's Dish) January 17, 2011 at 9:59 am

i’m impressed…normally my alarm goes off and then about an hour of silence, then an “OH CRAP I’M LATE!” emerges from my lips!

20 Jessica @ How Sweet It Is January 17, 2011 at 10:10 am

I love Siggis!

21 Hope January 17, 2011 at 10:12 am

That yogurt bowl looks yummy! I love quaker oat squares. They remind me of my childhood. I can’t wait to see the sandwiches you make!

22 Marisa @ Loser for Life January 17, 2011 at 10:16 am

LOL! Is Matt for rent??? I could really use him to kick my butt out of bed in the a.m.!

23 JenATX January 17, 2011 at 12:10 pm

yeah no kidding! And Kath, what made you not want to go to the Y so much? just curious

24 Kath January 17, 2011 at 3:51 pm

I just don’t like working out after work – esp. since we had planned to go out to dinner tonight. We’re going after tomorrow though.

25 Haleigh January 17, 2011 at 10:16 am

Siggi’s is, by far, my favorite yogurt :) If it wasn’t so pricey, I would have my fridge stocked with the stuff!

26 Justeen @ Blissful Baking January 17, 2011 at 10:20 am

I’ve never tried Siggi’s but the orange ginger flavor sounds great! I think I’ll go out and buy some today :)

27 Mom January 17, 2011 at 10:21 am

That mug is so cool! I can’t believe you got one with your pictures on it that fast!

28 Samantha January 17, 2011 at 10:22 am

Sweet mug!

29 [email protected] Sweet Life January 17, 2011 at 10:32 am

Way to get up and going! I am always glad I did, in retrospect.

30 cathyb.@brightbakes January 17, 2011 at 10:35 am

your thought process sounds very very familiar 😉 But in the end, it’s always worth it!
cathy b.

31 Katy (The Singing Runner) January 17, 2011 at 10:41 am

Haha…. I love that thought process. I always visualize my options! ;D

32 Heather January 17, 2011 at 10:45 am

I love the thought process you went through this morning – good thing Matt told you he wanted to do something!

Hopefully they will have some good coffee at Great Harvest this morning for you!

33 Camille January 17, 2011 at 10:47 am

Good for you for getting up and going! I definitely think any conversation like that with me in it would end with, “Then you go, because I am staying in bed.”

34 Sarah @ See Sarah Graduate January 17, 2011 at 10:51 am

Have fun at sandwich school! much better than the classes I’ll be attending today. :)

35 Erika @ FoodFitnessFun January 17, 2011 at 10:52 am

LOL that is me every single morning. I have to set my alarm clock 15 minutes before the time I actually need to get up, because otherwise I’ll keep pressing it and I’ll be late. 😉

36 Brenda January 17, 2011 at 10:55 am

What is a co-op?

37 Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) January 17, 2011 at 11:00 am

What a super cute mug!

38 Halley (Blunder Construction) January 17, 2011 at 11:08 am

“Visualizing the options,” the only thing I can visualize at 5:30AM is the back of my eyelids!! Way to go motivation!

39 Kiran January 17, 2011 at 11:11 am

The mug is super cute and ya’ll are fast to get the photo on it 😀

40 dana @ my little celebration January 17, 2011 at 11:16 am

Ha, I liked your dialogue from this morning, especially “I’m visualizing my options.”

So funny. Hope you’re having a great day, Kath and Matt!

41 Stephanie January 17, 2011 at 11:32 am

Visualizing always helps for me! Love that Matt wasn’t settling for skipping both! It’s great to have that extra push from someone!

42 Natalia - a side of simple January 17, 2011 at 11:37 am

Good for you for getting up! This morning I visualized my options. Bed won over. That means tomorrow I’ll be that much more into it, right? 😉

43 Emily @ One Sweet Vegan January 17, 2011 at 11:40 am

You both have so much willpower. My husband doesn’t even wake up when the alarm goes off! :-)

44 Jessica January 17, 2011 at 11:43 am

This is exactly how my morning went today! Mondays I work out with a personal trainer at 6am and that 5am wake-up is such a struggle. The only thing that gets me out of bed is knowing that she’ll be knocking at my door at 6 :)

45 megan @ blackberries for jam January 17, 2011 at 11:44 am

I firmly believe that peanut butter goes with anything!

46 Allison @ Happy Tales January 17, 2011 at 11:44 am

Oh I’ve had that thought process more than once before, Ha!

But don’t you always feel just SO good after a hardcore workout in the morning?! Its the perfect start to a day.. especially a Monday!!! Good for y’all!

47 Annette January 17, 2011 at 11:44 am

Why is Siggi’s so good- I mean what makes it so tasty/healthy? Also, I LOVE Quaker’s oatmeal squares–which flavor/variety is in your bowl?! :)

48 J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) January 17, 2011 at 11:49 am

I haven’t been able to find Siggi’s in months. :( I wish my stores carried the plain all the time! Love it. :)

49 Ashley (The Vegetable Life) January 17, 2011 at 11:51 am

Haha you are too funny having a full conversation to decide what to do… I give you a lot of credit I’m not sure I would have left my bed!

Your yogurt bowl looks delicious!

50 Maryann January 17, 2011 at 11:53 am

That looks like my kind of breakfast! And just a little PSA for any LA readers, THERE IS A GROUPON FOR GREAT HARVEST TODAY! :)

51 alana (at) the food January 17, 2011 at 11:54 am

i love working out in the morning, but where i live, it’s hard to convince yourself to go outside in the morning (it’s sometimes minus 40!!

52 Liz @ Tip Top Shape January 17, 2011 at 12:02 pm

I have my best workouts in the morning but it is so hard to motivate myself to actually go do it. I’m always happy when I do, though!!

53 Kate (What Kate is Cooking) January 17, 2011 at 12:05 pm

I would have rolled over and gone back to sleep. Good for you for going!

54 Christine (The Raw Project) January 17, 2011 at 12:08 pm

So nice Matt is motivating too, my hubby would have been happy to skip. 😛 Great breakfast.

55 lynn (The Actors Diet) January 17, 2011 at 12:15 pm

“I am visualizing the options” :)

56 [email protected] January 17, 2011 at 12:24 pm

I used your visualization trick to do yoga at 1 this morning, no joke! I was up all night working on a school project and my shoulders felt so closed and tight, and I visualized how I would feel if I did some shoulder opening work and did a gentle hatha 20 min practice from yogadownload! I was soooo happy I did it! :)

57 stacey-healthylife January 17, 2011 at 12:45 pm

I’m glad you made it to class. Sometimes it’s just really hard to take the first step.

58 Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table January 17, 2011 at 1:05 pm

Your morning process sounds like mine… only I’m just trying to convince myself to get out of bed for work! :)

59 Amelia (Eating Made Easy) January 17, 2011 at 1:37 pm

Whenever Siggi’s is on sale I always feel like I’ve won the jackpot! Orange & ginger rules.

60 kate January 17, 2011 at 1:55 pm

I have that same dialogue with myself every morning!

61 Emily January 17, 2011 at 2:04 pm

The morning workout is always the best and worst part of the day…who really wants to leave the comfort of a warm bed, especially in winter time! Excited to hear all about sandwich making :)

62 Erica January 17, 2011 at 2:25 pm

hahahha- I’ve done that before :) It does feel awesome to just get the workout done though! Glad you went. And what a delicious looking yogurt bowl- I love having a little of this little of that. Congrats on the Great Harvest training week. Y’all must be SO excited

63 Tessa January 17, 2011 at 2:26 pm

I need a Matt in my life. It seems like on the days you can’t get motivated, he always encourages you to go. What a good accountability partner!

64 Jess January 17, 2011 at 2:32 pm

Am I crazy or does the mug say 2010? Still cute though!

65 Mom January 17, 2011 at 3:06 pm

Looks like it! I didn’t even notice. Good spotting!

66 Kath January 17, 2011 at 3:50 pm

HAHA – you are so right! None of us noticed!

67 Maryea @ Happy Healthy Mama January 17, 2011 at 2:36 pm

Do you know how lucky you are to have your husband be so motivating?!! If I said “let’s skip both” to my husband, he would roll over and say, “okay”. LUCKY.

68 Mary @ Bites and Bliss January 17, 2011 at 2:57 pm

It’s good to have someone to get you motivated one days like that!

69 Baking 'n' Books January 17, 2011 at 3:15 pm

Do you work from home? I would love to know more about how to really take off with writing, etc. and blogging. I’ve read your posts – but these things take time!!EEK…I’m on the verge of quitting my job now – full panic money mode though….!

Do you eat before Bootcamp at all or after? And that’s EARLY :)

70 Kath January 17, 2011 at 3:52 pm

Ate after and nothing before – just water. We didn’t have time to get hungry.

Yes, I work from home until we get this bakery open

71 Heather (Where's the Beach) January 17, 2011 at 3:41 pm

LOL – love the thought process! That’s great. Kudos to you for getting up and getting it done!

72 Sana January 17, 2011 at 3:44 pm

I would have visualized all my options and stayed in bed :)

73 Lisa (bakebikeblog) January 17, 2011 at 4:12 pm

I am so very impressed by your dedication!!!!

74 Meagan January 17, 2011 at 4:55 pm

I want more of these morning dialogues. That was hilarious!!

75 Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin January 17, 2011 at 6:58 pm

Haha you two are so funny! You’re lucky you have Matt to kick your butt into working out. 😉

76 Hannah January 17, 2011 at 8:02 pm

Oh wow. I can’t believe you guys and your commitment! I can’t even get myself to go for 15 minute runs… 😛

77 mary (what's cookin' with mary) January 17, 2011 at 9:41 pm

loved the ‘thought process’ :) I agree… boot camp was the right choice!

78 Monica January 17, 2011 at 9:52 pm

Great post! You’ve actually inspired me to head to the gym early so I can shower and enjoy breakfast at home instead of using the gym’s facilities and packing a breakfast to scarf down on campus. We’ll see how it goes when the alarm sounds :)

79 Namaste Gurl January 18, 2011 at 12:48 am

Oh Lord, your rushed post seems like mine today as well. Let’ s just say I was 30 minutes late for work due to blogging :)

80 sarah January 20, 2011 at 10:09 am

I made oatmeal in a peanut butter jar this morning for the very first time, and it’s delish 😛 I think i learned this trick from your blog, so THANKS, MERCI, GRACIAS!!
