Yay! This trip will be so much fun – I think I should become a baker too just so I can be a sandwich maker!
Ahhh it looks like fun! Montana in the winter would be pretty magical I think. I hope you have a GREAT time! I’m sure we’ll get updates along the way.
And :O PATAGONIA OUTLET! Be still my heart!
Ditto! I had to stare at the Patagonia Outlet sign for a good 30 seconds before scrolling down…”Be still my heart” is right!
This all sounds like such fun!!
Safe travels and have a blast!
Yah! Hope that this is the only “hiccup” in your trip. The countryside (and beer) look beautiful!
Fingers crossed everything goes to plan after the flights delays! (Though, really, flight delays are always in the plan these days, sadly…) So exciting!
I’ve been excited about your trip for weeks now
I’ve never been to Montana and can’t wait to hear all about the bakery plus see your pics of the landscape and food. Have fun!! We’ll be here waiting to hear all about it! Fly safely!
I travel a lot, and hate the waiting game.
Good luck getting there today!
Have a safe trip, can’t wait to read all about it.
~
Have a wonderful time Kath.
Have a great time! Can’t wait to read about it all. Looks like beautiful, peaceful scenery.
Aack! Snow delays stink! I know you’ll make the best of it anyway, Kath! Safe travels!
Ouch, sorry about your canceled flight, girl! Hope everything else goes as planned.
Have fun… once it gets going. Sometimes, the most difficult part of a trip is packing for it and getting out the door.
Good luck getting there safe, sound and sane! I hope it’s not too hard to find your hotel in the dark
Crap, so sorry to hear about the delay! Safe travels for the rest of the day. Hurry home!
Looks like so much fun!
Bozeman is where the guy who wrote Three Cups of Tea is from! That’s the only thing I know about Montana sadly!
I think I’d like to go to sandwich school! Good luck with the travelling!!
Woohoo! Have a great trip! It’s good that you’re so organized. My family definitely needs to take some tips because sometimes we travel haphazard.
Haha I love your trip outline with pictures! It really does look like a great trip. And I’m sorry about the long delay! Almost everyone I know that’s been traveling this winter (in Europe and the US) has had at least some kind of delay or cancellation. I hope there are no more delays for you! Enjoy your time!
Sounds like a fun and busy week!
What a beautiful place! Have FUN! …for me! Please!
Good luck with your flight situation…
Ahhh, this looks ridic awesome! Have fun and enjoy every minute. Be safe on the roads
(Wow, I sound like my mom!)
Good luck! Have fun! Try snowshoeing!
Definitely looks like it’s going to be a fantastic trip, working or not!
Good luck with your trip…it sounds busy but fun!
Sorry about your traveling delays. I hope the trip gets better for you! I can’t wait to read along and see all of the pictures!
safe travels and hope the airports treat you well
love,
cathy b. @ brightbakes
Snowshoeing is so fun and a great workout if it’s not too cold!
You guys are going to have a blast! And I think you will be exploding with even more excitement and anticipation of your bakery opening after all this time spent learning their offerings! Enjoy!!!
I hope you guys have a great trip Kath! Looking forward to meeting you when you’re back in cville
Have an AMAZING time, Kath + fam
I hope you are on your flight right now and it didn’t get delayed any longer!
Apparently our plane hasn’t even left DC yet..
Matt’s bday is the 14th? My birthday is also that day!
Very cool! Happy b-day!
This all sounds like so much fun! Hope you don’t get there too late today.
Is the second week that Matt is staying on baking technique specific training and that is why he stays and you go back home?
What a wonderful adventure you have in store!
Yup!
Boo to airline delays. I only like it when it involves a bump and a free ticket!
this looks so fun! I am so excited for the both of you. I wish I could play around at Great Harvest! I bet it’s hard work….but worth it
My in-laws live in Montana (Helena), and we love visiting them. Snowshoeing is easy and fun! We also like the skiing (cross-country for me)!
You haven’t even left DC yet and your trip to Montana looks like fun!
I have an amendment to your Jan 15-16 plans. I would like to add us and recommend a snowshoe trip to Livingston, MT.
Then grocery shopping at the Bozeman Community Coop or Rosauers.
Please do not wait and shop at the Dillon Safeway. I will send you with coolers if I have too!
Good news: The weather here has been in the 30′s so some of the snow is melting but fresh stuff is on its way Sunday!
Would love to get together if you’ll be in Bozeman on the 15-16!
We will be here. We have a speaker we want to see Saturday night in Bozeman so we hadf planned to go to town anyway. New development: we also have a friend who knows the ins and outs of the Tobacco Root mountains south of our house. We just need to rent you some snowshoes!
When you get a break from bread tasting give me a call or shoot me an email!
Until then…Welcome to Big Sky Country!
I’m excited about your trip for you! Montana is so beautiful, especially in the winter. I’m looking forward to hearing about the training.
Sounds like your trip will be lots of fun, despite being stuck at the airport all day!
I am confused. You must have been before?
Have a great trip.
Snowshoeing is so fun!!! And a great workout! Your pictures make me want to go to Montana!
I’m so excited for you! Thanks for the play-by-play. Looking forward to reading up on your adventures! If you get a chance, take a picture of a horse or two for me? Please?
Don’t worry! The unexpected is what makes trips fun!
Have a safe flight and drive and most importantly… have fun!
i’m just not sure if this could be a better trip…you’re in a beautiful place and get to eat bread the whole time! what could be better?!
I hope the rest of the traveling goes smoothly! Have a great trip and (try to) stay warm!
You should have just DRIVEN to DC, come had breakfast with me, and you still could have caught the original second leg of your flight! Safe travels – can’t wait to see pics!
Have a great trip! When you are in Dillon, you’ll be about two hours from me! Wish I could come meet you.
Kelly,
Where are you from??
Truly,
A Three-Forkian
Yeah Kelly – are you near Missoula or Bozeman? I’ll be in both places!
I live in southeastern Idaho. If I wasn’t leaving town next weekend, I’d head north to meet you, Kath!
Your trip sounds really fun! I LOVED montana ale works in Bozeman, I think we ate 3 times during our vacation because it was so good!
Sounds like a fun-filled, non-stop schedule! Have a great time!
Too bad you are going to miss out on exploring missoula! When you are in bozeman, I highly recommend the emerson grille. Its an awesome little restaurant tucked away in an old schoolhouse. Have fun in montana!
We ate there on our last trip!!
That sucks about the airport. Be safe and best of luck.
wait . . . does this mean you wont be blogging for the next 12 days?? well, either way have a wonderful time!! (but seriously, ill go through withdrawl without your blog
No of course not
I’ll be around
Sorry about the delay…at least you have great company! Have a safe trip!
haha, such a cute post!
your trip will be amazing….once you get there! sorry to hear about your flight troubles.
Have fun and safe travels!
Adorable picture of you and Matt.
Wow! You have a lot to do over the next few days. Have a great trip Kath!
Oh my gosh, so much fun for your guys! Montana in January will be, uhm, Montana in January. But the whole experience will be awesome (I’m sure).
I stumbled upon Biga Pizza in Missoula on a business trip. I have dreams about the Flathead Cherry pizza – housemade sausage, cherry chutney, smoked gouda, mozzarella, garlic oil & parsley.
Enjoy your trip. Montana is a beautiful place.
I’m looking forward to following along on this trip and seeing your adventures! Best of luck with your travels.
You’ve got quite the itinerary!
Say hello to my lovely Bozeman for me
“You MUST go snowshoeing!” says Sally, from Wisconsin;) Have a great trip! Eat healthy, rest as much as you can and soak it up!!
That was a super recap! Glad to see you’re making the best of the plane delay development. Keep cool, Kath, and have a blast exploring!
“Romantic picnic for two”… so funny! Glad you are making the best of your airport adventure. Looking forward to seeing what the next few days have in store!
Have a wonderful trip. You should definitely try snow shoeing. I liked it so much on our last ski trip to Colorado that I asked for snowshoes for Christmas so I can go as often as I want on our trip this week!
You look cute in a cowgirl hat!
So fun! I love how you did this blog post! I’ll be looking forward to reading about your trip. Next Sunday, I am starting a 6 week trip myself – to sit my graduate thesis exam, and then to embark on training for a different career – in the food industry, as well!
My two recommendations for the Bozeman area are Mackenzie River Pizza, especially the pesto lodgepoles! Also worth the trip is Chico Hot Springs, they are over the pass and south of Livingston. Norris Hot Springs are also close to Bozeman.
Enjoy Big Sky Country!
