Boy was I completely pooped from head to toe when I got in bed last night. I slept great, but woke up this morning with hips about to cramp and a general stiffness from yesterday’s weight lifting. I’m taking today off as a rest – plus stretch – day! I’d love to go see a movie or start a new book. We have a few raindrops to make that even more appealing. And Matt and I have a tentative date planned for this evening.
I woke up really hungry this morning – probably residual blood sugar imbalance from so much sugar last night! But this bowl of whole grain filled me right up.
Whipped banana oatmeal with blueberries, chia seeds, cherry jam [According to Daniel] and almond butter.
Earl Grey on the side!

At first glance that cherry jam looked like cherry tomatoes… Rest days are ALWAYS a good thing. I took one yesterday and it was definitely needed!
You’re especially color coordinated to today – even those cherries match the towel. Have fun on your date tonight!
I had to do a double take…the jam dollops look like sliced cherry tomatoes!
I did the same thing! I was like umm tomatoes on oats? Interesting…
The “hips don’t lie.” It sounds like some ligaments are getting ready for some future action!
Hmmm, I think you are going to get some baby action pretty soon! So exciting
I looooove watching movies on rainy days! Have a great Saturday, Kath!
Good Morning! Please explain how eating sugar makes you feel more hungry. Thanks! Enjoy your weekend! -G
An overload of sugar in the blood leads to an overload of insulin, which helps to move the glucose into the cells from the blood. Once the sugar is stored though, there is excess insulin in the blood that signals the body to say “I need more sugar.” I would think this reactive hypoglycemia would have a more acute effect, however, I have found that personally if I eat too much sugar (or alcohol!) that I always wake up with mild hypoglycemic symptoms.
Thanks, that was very informative!
It’s been rainy the past few days for us — perfect movie & book in bed weather! Enjoy!
Not sure what you like to read, but Patti Smith’s Just Kids and Jennifer Egan’s A Visit from the Goon Squad are some of my recent favorites.
haha thought you had tomatoes in your oats for a second there
looks amazing as always, enjoy your rest day!
I love how the place setting looks with that bowl and cup! Perfect combo!
We also have a rainy day, and I am planning on getting some cleaning done and starting a book
Another yummy looking bowl of oats. Come make me breakfast!
For some reason I read your comment as “Another yummy talking bowl of oats.” I guess Kath can do magic with oats!
YES read a book or go to a movie – could be the last movie for awhile!!!
That does look like cherry tomatoes on your oatmeal (LOL) Are you looking for ways to use up cherry tomatoes? (LOL)

Earl gray + cherries is one of my favorite combos!
Your table cloth is so cute! Also, I enjoyed reading your post about why sugar makes you hungry. That is very good to know and remember to eat it in small doses.
