The long awaited Current video is here!!! A big thanks to Marsha and Dave at WinRock Productions for doing such a wonderful job. I think they captured us well!
A Day In The Life Of KERF
I think the little pink “On TV” box means this is airing on Current’s TV channel
Workout
I didn’t feel like working out this morning, but I also didn’t feel like not working out! I was awake, so I got up (and so did Matt!) and we biked to the gym in 39*. Brrrr! My winter coat is already put away for summer, so I was just in a fleece. We did a quick 35 minutes of cardio (ET for me) at the gym and biked home. I can’t stress enough how much I love biking there. It clears the conscience and makes working out part of the travel, cutting the actual gym time down.
Don’t Cry Over Sour Milk
We had a close call this morning. Matt made the oats and just happened to casually say “I used up the old milk.” YIKES – I remember that milk smelling a little off last week, so I just knew it had probably turned. I stuck a spoon into the pot and took a tiny taste – BLECH!!!! We had to dump out a WHOLE POT of oats
Luckily we caught it early and not after we had put on toppings and starting eating! That would have been a disaster.
1 tbsp of everything:
- 1/3 cup oats, 1% NEW milk, water, pinch salt, 1/2 medium banana
- 1 tbsp raisins + craisins
- 1 tbsp wheatberries
- 1 tbsp flax
- 1 tbsp wheat germ
- 1 tbsp raspberry jam
- 1 tbsp almonds
- 1 tbsp Maranatha Almond Butter
Coffee!
Off to take this test!

That is THE coolest video – love it!!
ROCK OUT THAT DAMN TEST!!
LOVE the video, especially you turning on the light over the stove while Matt watches you take pics! It reminded me so much of dinner at our house!
GREAT video, Kath!!! So fun to see!!
Good luck with the test!
That is so cool! You are a great example to us all!
Kath that video is great! You look really beautiful and so natural in front of the camera. It’s really neat to see you actually taking the pictures of food, not just the pictures themselves. And nice license plate
I worry about my milk going bad only because I haven’t bought REAL milk in ages. Soymilk doesn’t go bad for awhile, but I have to keep an eye on this skim milk I’ve bought!
Kath you are too darn cute! What a great video. So cool to see you in action =)
Kath, I love this! it’s always so neat to see bloggers in “person” and interracting! good luck on your test
ahhhh, a whole pot of oats in the trash. it hurts my heart! seriously a good thing you caught it before the toppings — that WOULD have been a tragedy.
such a cool video — you’re famous … again!
good luck on the test. you’re going to rock it!
I really loved the video.

Spoiled milk is my worst nightmare – sooo glad disaster was averted!
You & Matt looked great in the video – thanks for sharing your lives with us.
Just curious – how far away is your gym from home?
That video was so fun! It’s cool to take a peek into your lives.

That was a great video!
I meant to post last week about this…I made your kale smoothie and it was fantastic! My husband didn’t even know there was kale in it. I am going to make it often during the summer as a cool treat when I don’t feel like turning on the oven for kale chips. Thanks for the great recipe!
good luck on your test today!

Kath,
Couldn’t Kanz have come up with a magical way of turning that sour oatmeal pot into sour oatmeal dough bread
After reading his latest Wheatberry bread post I’m sure he could discover a way.

Great video!
Loved your last line…!
Good luck on your test today! I loved the video. It’s so interesting to hear what you sound like after making up this imaginary voice for you in my head
. It’s so true about food blogging – it really makes you accountable for what you eat. I know for cooking dinners, it makes me want to think of interesting and healthy things to show people. There’s something so intriguing about food that makes us want to share it with others and find out what others eat for every meal of the day.
what a great video!
yuck = sour milk!! so gross! Good thing you caught it early!
What a great video Kath!!! Good luck on your test!
I LOVE THE VIDEO!!! SO FANTASTIC!!

I just realized that you guys are in Charlotte! I am reading over on the coast in Wilmington. I just want to thank you for your blog. It is inspiring.
I am actually already a healthy eater, I have been vegetarian for about 14 years. I have a passion for local and organic foods. I just enjoy reading about what you eat and getting new ideas for meals. I am going to try kale chips out soon.
Again, thank you. I love your blog and I read it daily

Love love love the video! The behind-the-scenes footage was great! This video truly captures what living a healthy, active life is all about and inspires me to treat myself better than fighting it to be a skinnier size. Thank you Kath!

linda
Your video is fabulous! I love the music…..it feels like a beautiful day down south!
mmm, peanut butter and jelly in oats. My favorite thing! Cool video – you and Matt must have great time management skills to do all that you do!
Great video!!
Great video.
Thanks for devoting so much time to your blog. I think it really helps a lot of people… I know it’s influenced the way I eat! I only hope my blog will some day gain a fraction of the popularity yours has.
I enjoyed watching the video and learning the effort you put into your blog. You are an inspiration to people who eat healthy and to people who are wanting to eat healthy. I read your blog daily and it inspires me to eat healthly! Keep up the great work.
One more thing: good luck on your test.
Hello! First time commenter here, but definitely not a first time reader. I’ve been following your blog for a while now, and I have to say – the video is 100% correct – it truly is motivating and inspirational. In my case, perhaps it inspires me in a different way to some others, because I’m actually trying to gain a significant amount of weight as I’m in recovery from anorexia. What I love about KERF is that you have such a healthy and refreshing attitude to food and calorie counting which are things I abused for so long in my life. Your oatmeal creations inspire my own breakfasts, and I have made several of your recipes (LOVED the stuffed peppers!) I feel good about eating the foods that you inspire me to make because while they are ‘real’ portions and super tasty, they are also healthy and make me feel good about feeding myself, which eliminates some of the guilt that inevitably arises when battling anorexia.
Hmm this was a long old ramble, but thank you so much for your fantastic blog. Africa looked AMAZING by the way! Good luck on becoming an R.D – I know you’ll achieve your aims, and I bet you’d be an amazing dietician to work with (and trust me, I’ve seen many!) xxxxx
Love the video!!
Kath,
Loved the video! Good luck with the test.
–Stepfanie
Good luck with the test!
Kath, the video clip is very nice. Thank you for all your hard work!! Your blog is the very BEST in my opinion.
Mmmm those oats looked super creamy ::cue stomach growling::
Awesome video!
From the looks of it, this is only the beginning of your TV appearances! I predict that you’ll be in big demand after this! You have a very natural presence on “tv”!
I loved the video, very well done. I go to your blog more often than any on the internet. Thanks so much for it!
Fun! Nice to see the real person behind the blog.
My favorite part was seeing an ad for McDonalds along the bottom when the video started. I’m sure that’s not exactly exactly the targeting they were hoping for!
Very cool.

I LOVE YOUR VIDEO KATH! Your such an inspiration and look like such a fun girl overall! Thanks for being an inspiration to younger bloggers like me also =) Stay real!!

Yours was the first food blog I ever read. I found it on a runners world forum and it was linked to your granola bar recipe where you use liquid eggs as a binder. after that I was hooked! Thank you!!
AWESOME video!!! I love having a voice to put your words with. So now when I read your blog I can hear you say it – yes what a NERD!!!

Good luck with the test!
Love the video, how exciting!
Kath, I hate being obsessed over anything, but honestly, I am OBSESSED with your blog, & wouldn’t know what I would do w/o my KERF fix. Thanks so much, & also have to share with you that kale chips are my new favorite food. They’re better than potato chips w/none of the guilt! I appreciate you!!
Hey Kath,
I just wanted to say that I think that you are very cool!
Katie
Love the video! Congrats!
GREAT video! How fun to see a VIDEO day in the life!
Keep up the great work! Your readers appreciate it!
I am a 38 year old mother of two..17 and 12 and I have been cooking for a long time…your blog has taught this old dog some new tricks.
There are so many blogs out there ..but your stands out from the rest..you can see the time and dedication you put into it and it shows. The video tops it off..I thought your Africa videos were great ..but this one is the best! You are making a huge inpact on the youth of today…. trying new foods and realizing there is more to eating than fast food…just like you say ..eat real food. I have stuggled for years with my weight and you have inpsired me to ” eat real food” and get away form diet gimmicks…lean cuisines and such. Your a smart cookie..your mother must be proud!
Good luck with your studies..your going to make an amazing RD! Thanks again for opening my eyes
Thank you!
Great video Kath! I’m one of your silent followers. I aspire to be you when I grow up – ha, ha – I’m prolly 20 years older than you. I really admire your culinary creativity, especially at such a young age.
Taking all those pictures and loading them daily is dedication and hard work. Thank you.
Take care!
That video was amazing – they did such a great job of capturing a “day in the life”
I’m actually a broadcast journalism major (when I’m not looking into going into PR, lol), so I always love watching videos like that! Congrats!!
