Chem Weekend Wrap Up

:hi:

This whole weekend, sans meals and a little entertainment, was devoted to biochemistry. It was long, but also very productive and I feel good about my paper and  hopefully will feel good about my test tomorrow at 11:00am!

Next weekend: all Foodservice

This afternoon some Exploded Wheatberry Bread came out of the oven. I was delivered a piece to my study spot on the floor. It was gone before I even thought about my camera 😉

Other nibbles included a taste of almond butter (100% boredom) and a few bites of this delish banana bread Victoria’s mom baked

‘Round dinnertime we had little motivation to cook and ended up swapping recipes with a weeknight.

We made broiled Ham + Cheese Sandwiches with avocado, peppers, mustard and sprouts.

IMG_3924 (1024x768)

And sweet potato fries. Tossed in salt, cinnamon and a tsp of oil and baked on aluminum foil at 400* for about 13 minutes per side, turning once. Worked pretty well!

IMG_3926 (1024x768)

My “green vegetable”

With green tea

IMG_3921 (1024x768)

His. I also had a bite of that cheesy sourdough!

Sorry to be so lackluster tonight – I’m tired and tired of studying.

But I’ve got a big surprise to show you guys tomorrow morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thinking about studying in the bathtub….

What kind of bread do you use on your sandwiches…and did you literally put it in the oven on broil? That is the best looking sandwich!! I love your blog; so glad I recently discovered it!

    Lindy ,
All of our bread is from Great Harvest, where my husband works. And some of it he bakes at home with his own recipes.

And yes, we just put the sandwiches open-faced under the broiler.

I stumbled across this blog and a few others. I’m in my early 30s and have a four year old. I can’t help but notice that you never, ever eat at fast food or Olive Garden type restaurants. There’s never that random pretzel at the mall or popcorn at the movies. I don’t think that’s a bad thing, of course, but even among my friends, who are a pretty healthy group, meals at Chick-fil-a or a quick sandwich from subway happen. I’m just curious if those situations never arise for you, and, if/when you have a family if you plan to avoid them. I’m not saying you never have snacks or treats–they just never seem to come from everyday places.

    fyi ,
To be honest, I don’t really like the food as those kind of restaurants. I don’t think it tastes very good or fresh. I’m not opposed to eating at them, but if I have a say in the restaurant, I’d always choose for something more gourmet or opt to cook at home.
