I’m Alive!

Today has been quite productive, out of the ordinary and fun!

I woke up at 7:15 with just enough time to get dressed, check email and pack a breakfast before I walked to the coffee shop to meet Victoria to study. It was such a gorgeous morning and walk!

I debated eating cereal or oatmeal (what I really wanted) but I knew I’d have to wolf it down and hate not being able to enjoy a meal! So I decided on a GH Cinnamon Raisin Bun with Almond Butter! Hidden in between were 3 walnut halves and a drizzle of honey as well. I toasted the bun, so the AB kind of melted on my way there 🙁

IMG_3907

I also got a Cafe au Lait with Snickerdoodle coffee and soy milk.

IMG_3908

I also packed a banana, which I saved for a late morning snack and ate around noon.

Totally not your typical KERF breakfast, huh! I really enjoyed the change of scenery though. And the bun held me over surprisingly well. But it was NOT as fun to eat as oatmeal.

IMG_3905

Victoria and I were extremely productive in the morning hours and spent 3 of them going through our notes. I feel a lot better about this test, but I’ve still got a long ways to go.

As I said above, I ate my banana at noon and walked back home, dropped my bags, and went out for a run. I was expecting rain today since we’ve had rain for the past 4 days and was thrilled with blue skies (although there’s a strong wind out there). My 5.5 mile run was great. I was music and partnerless and I got lots of thinking done.

I came home to find Matt and his college fraternity buddy Waikart drinking on the patio!! There seems to be a heavy emphasis on beer this spring

this !

IMG_3916

Although I cannot lie – I had a few post-run sips of Maple Squirr-ale!

IMG_3915

For lunch I ate a big salad

IMG_3912

Leftover romaine, craisins + walnuts from last night plus sauteed broc, peppers, mushrooms, plus cottage cheese, sprouts, avocado and blueberries.

IMG_3914

And a bunch of Food Should Taste Good multigrain chips. Loved them! They were like those flax corn chips I used to get a lot.

I am off to SHOWER and then study for the rest of the day.

That’s great you got so much done in the morning, and then topped it with a run. I was debating running today because of the rain & wind but it cleared up and was blue skies. If I had homemade beer around me all the time I would be carrying a spare tire by now!

The make-your-own-pizzas last night pushed me over the edge. I’ve got dough rising as we speak. Now I think I want to put avocado on it. What an inspiration your choices have been!

About damn time! We were worried sick about you…don’t scare us like that again.

Matt does seem to be drinking a lot of beer this spring. I thought I was a bad influence on him, but he seems to be able to drink without me, too. Then again, it’s sort of research for Brew and Bake, right?

Have you tried the food should taste good buffalo chips? they weren’t very buffalo-y.

i always think snickerdoodle (well, at least for cookies) means it has snickers in it.

That snickerdoodle coffee sounds so good right now. I have a local coffee shop that has sugar-free snickerdoodle flavor shots that I add to my latte every time I go there… SOOO delicious!

Nice run! I bet that felt good after studying morning!

Sounds like you’ve had a great day! You say 5.5 miles with such ease, haha. How long does it usually take you to run that? I’d love to hear your stats. I’m training for a half marathon, so my running will be kicked up a notch for the next 2 months.

Out of the ordinary brekkies can be the perfect way to re-ignite the oatmeal loving! 🙂 Too bad for the melty almond butter though.
Good luck with the rest of the studying!

    Michelle Hisae,
I don’t really know how long it took me, but I will try to track stats on my next run. I probably ran about a 9:30 pace. I’m not fast! Endurance has always been easier for me than speed.

We usually buy Cabot Nonfat at TJ’s but this was Breakstone’s 2% (my favorite), which was on sale.
