High School Musical – The Real Thing

O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A!

IMG_3893 (1024x768)

We drove by a sign a few weeks ago announcing Oklahoma! was playing at our local high school this weekend. I decided we should go, as I love theater and musicals and don’t get to them much because of the cost. My parents used to take us to performances all the time when we were little and I miss it! We emailed our friends and bribed them with make-your-own pizza and dessert before and after the show.

I poured some wine for Kate, Amanda and Diana (and me!)

IMG_3869 (1024x768)

I couldn’t decide between beer or wine and after a few sips of my wine I passed it off to Matt and switched to beer!

Leftover from the fall and SO WORTH THE WAIT!

IMG_3876 (768x1024)

I dressed in cowgirl gear for the show!

IMG_3879 (768x1024)

Then we began pizza assembly with Matt’s whole wheat dough

IMG_3870 (768x1024) IMG_3872 (768x1024) IMG_3873 (768x1024)

My pie! With peppers, shrooms, cheese and 2 pepperoni

IMG_3874 (1024x768)

Into the oven

IMG_3875 (768x1024)

And back out!

IMG_3883 (768x1024)

I didn’t intend to eat the whole pizza because I wasn’t terribly hungry, but I did 🙂

IMG_3886 (768x1024)

Kate brought a salad: romaine, feta, sprouts, craisins, walnuts.

IMG_3880 (1024x768)

IMG_3884 (768x1024)

And Diana brought tomato + mozzarella stacks

IMG_3882 (1024x768)

Food is good. We were all silent when we started eating because we were busy chewing.

IMG_3881 (1024x768)

Then we drove over to the show.

IMG_3891 (1024x768)

Hi skool!

IMG_3889 (1024x768)

Kate + Diana

IMG_3890 (1024x768)

The boys were a little reluctant to go (ahem, Nate!) but they were great sports!!

IMG_3892 (1024x768)

Oklahoma! is one of my favorite musicals. I love the songs! This production was excellent. I loved all the costumes and it was all very impressive for a high school. My only criticism: it lasted three hours. That was a little long.

IMG_3896 (1024x768) IMG_3900 (1024x768)

Back at home, we uncorked Amanda’s Blackberry Wine

IMG_3901 (768x1024)

And had Breyers Vanilla with GH Butterscotch cookies for dessert.

IMG_3903 (768x1024)

IMG_3902 (768x1024)

I’ve got a headache – perhaps a lack of coffee? That’s what it feels like. I’ve also got to get up super early tomorrow to meet Victoria to study Biochem all day long! I was able to get my protein sequencing project finished this afternoon and we did make it to the gym for 45 minutes of cardio.

Goodnight y’all

I LOVE HOMEMADE PIZZAS! Gah. I need to make one SOON. I love that you know exactly what’s going on it and you can put more/LESS cheese and MORE/less tomato sauce.

Also, dessert wine is such a treat! It’s like juice with a kick. Love it.

I was in a musical back in high school…ah the glory days (yeah, right!). In San Diego we have Junior Theater, which is what it sounds like…a theater and acting/singing/dancing school program for kids. I remember the shows being REALLY good. My family is so into theater that we had season tickets!

I grew up going to plays/musicals too and enjoyed it!! As I grew older, I discovered (and a little surprised by) just how many people have NEVER been to a play or musical. But 3 hours?!? Yikes, that definitely is a little long.

high school musicals can be a great deal if the school has a good theater department. I went to a production of Les Mis last year that literally brought me to tears (dare I say it was better than when I saw it on Broadway?)… I was so disappointed to find out that this Spring their production was actually high school musical though. I’ll pass on that one.

I had to say that seeing your pics of the homemade pizza sent me to the store today. I decided that your pizza looked soooo good that I absolutley HAD to make my own.
(I am currently pregnant, so once something looks and sounds good, that’s it. I’ll go nuts until I have it. I have been in a pizza fetish anyway.) 😉
