I don’t really mind my commute much because it’s traffic free (for the most part). But today was another story!! Something (Friday?) had caused I-85 to be bumper to bumper the whole way home, making my commuter 1.5 hours
[Don't worry - I was stopped here]
I finished Twilight!! Then listened to NPR Science Friday (and so so sad to hear the updates on Haiti. MarathonVal and Seth are both helping out through their blogs, FYI)
I finally made it home and crashed…
Felt SO much better after just 20 minutes of light shut eye.
My plan had been to go to the gym after my nap but I decided that I had exactly 3 hours to eat dinner, blog, answer> 100 emails, pack and get organized for our trip and I did not see that all happening in under 3 hours. I MUST MUST get to bed by 8PM or I’ll be so cranky for our trip!! (And 3:45AM wake-up call)
So I passed on the gym. This is my third day of skipping a workout – but in the scheme of life – that’s no big deal. Once this hectic schedule is over I’ll be back to my healthy habits.
We ate dinner at 5:30 because I was starving with no snack and extra hunger hormones from no sleep!
And Beer Cheese Soup leftovers
I ate half kale chips with ketchup and half romaine + goat cheese salad with Annie’s balsamic to clean out the fridge
Snacks packed for the trip!
I think I might be able to make it to bed by 8 (still have to pack) if I can find something to wear to the wedding!
Sorry to be neglectful of my blog devotion these past 2 days – I miss you all!

Bummer about the traffic! I LOVE leftover soup! I think it tastes better
Have a great weekend!
Have a great trip Kath! I wish my dinners could be filled with veggies like yours!
What a great dinner! Kale chips are so good. I’m glad to have finally tried them after seeing them here on the blog.
Glad to see you were able to get some rest! You’re right, that in the grand scheme of things, its okay not to make an appearance at the gym. You’ll be back to working out before you know it.
Safe travels tomorrow!
I still really need to make kale chips! It’s on my list. I lOVE the photos of you and the Oatmeal Express. SO cute!!
Safe travels!
Thanks for getting the word out about Dress Down for Haiti!
Have a great weekend!
I love your bedspread!! Is it a duvet? Where from? Have a GREAT trip!
Pottery Barn
Good luck getting packed and in bed by a decent hour! And you are so right, in the grand scheme of life, 3 days is nothing
Get some rest tonight and have a great trip!
As much as I hate to skip a workout, sometimes it’s the best thing for my sanity (and sleep patterns)! Safe travels tomorrow!
I had to skip my workout today too. I’ll be honest, I still get a little antsy on the days that I planned a workout and then can’t do it. But like you said – in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter!
I really don’t know how you handle such a crazy schedule. Shew! Have an amazing trip, girl =)
Hope you have a great trip!!! And it sounds like you need sleep more than a workout – priorities. I would do the same thing.
And neglecting the blog? No such thing! You are completely committed, iphone posts to prove it haha!!
We had kale chips for dinner tonight, too! Great minds think alike
Sorry about your commute– bleh!
Yummmm — I’ve been meaning to make these kale chips after seeing them on a few different foodie blogs.
Sorry to hear about your long commute! At least you had a yummy looking dinner to make up for it
Don’t worry about us. Life your life. Probably a good thing you passed on the gym. Don’t run yourself down.
Your bedspread is v. cute! I have been looking for the pear apple strudel clif bar literally for years!!!!! Where did you find it?????
I’ve had it for ages!! I think someone sent it to me.
Love your dinner combo! I FINALLY tried making kale chips this week and I can’t believe I waited so long -they were the bomb!
And, love your car console photo- looks just like mine…gotta love those Honda Accords!!
Get some rest and have fun on your trip!
That stinks that your commute was so long today. I can’t imagine having a commute like that on a regular basis.
I hope you were able to get everything together so you could get to sleep by 8pm tonight!
no no, i’ve been marveling over your blog devotion. if i were as busy as you, blogging would be the last on the list.
as far as cleaning-out-the-fridge-meals go, that looks yummy! i hope to make it to the run in new york! ciao!
Have a great trip!!
Girl, you take all the time you need! Your schedule is very hectic right now – and you’re still just getting used to it. Glad you’re not being hard on yourself about skipping the gym:D
Happy and safe travels tomorrow~
Sometimes when I really want to skip the gym when I have so much to do, I sit back and think if I will feel MORE stressed out with less time, or if I feel worse if I don’t work out. I usually opt to get things done and organized so I can feel satisfied in all parts of my life…otherwise I would just rush though the gym and not enjoy it anyway! It is always better to get the things done that need to be done
no need to apologize! You’re doing so many exciting things and instigating change.
I used to believe one skipped workout would set me back, and now I realize that if I sometimes skip, the next day I’m fresher and can almost do double duty!
amazing what 20 minutes of shut eye will do, non?
have a great time in nyc – i was just there over the holidays. if you’re looking for a good place to go in soho check out “spring street natural,” my favorite place. we also discovered a new gem on the upper west side – a vegetarian place called “peace foods cafe.”
yay for healthy snacks! the kale looks fantastic, and why wouldn’t you want it by candelight?!?!?!
Kale chips! They look great! I really need to try to make these some time! I have seen then a lot but never got the courage to try them. Have a great time in NYC!
Love your snacks, I am always packing snacks when I go away. Have a great trip!
Traffic can make the easiest ride hell on earth.
And good for you for listening to your body’s need for sleep both with the nap and early bed time. I sometimes forget that part.
Do you always eat with a candle…so cool!
The soup looks fantastic! Have a safe trip!
that’s lots of snacks!!! have a good night’s rest.
Love your snack stash! It looks like mine
And nothing beats candlelit dinners!
LOVE the winter Clif Bar flavors!! Great snack for a trip
ps. I adore your oatmeal recipes!
Have a great trip! Enjoy the fun of NYC!
Sometimes a nap hits the spot, and it looks like this one was very necessary. What’d you think of Twilight?!
Liked it!!! Mixed emotions.
3:45am!!! Wow! I have a 5am wake up call tomorrow and I thought that was tough!
Have lots of fun- looks like you’re ready to go with all those delish snacks!
I made your kale chips the other week and they were so good
I had them with lots of parmesan and soy sauce
Have a good sleep!
I followed your lead and downloaded Twilight to listen to on my iPod on my 13miler this morning – it worked a treat, I was so entertained!! Thankyou Kath
good for you for realizing your schedule was too tight to fit the gym in, I’m so bad at planning my time, I put too many things into a tiny time span and then get upset when it doesn’t workout
Boo for Friday traffic
I hate traffic! Have a fun and safe trip!
My number 1 commuting tip…ALWAYS go to the bathroom before you get in the car even if you think your commute will be short. Because that is the day it ends up being some 2 hour delay and you are contemplating desperate measures!!! :>
Courtney

Kale chips sound fantastic! Must Must try!!
