Kale By Candlelight

I don’t really mind my commute much because it’s traffic free (for the most part). But today was another story!! Something (Friday?) had caused I-85 to be bumper to bumper the whole way home, making my commuter 1.5 hours 🙁

[Don’t worry – I was stopped here]

photo (1)

I finished Twilight!! Then listened to NPR Science Friday (and so so sad to hear the updates on Haiti. MarathonVal and Seth are both helping out through their blogs, FYI)

photo

I finally made it home and crashed…

Felt SO much better after just 20 minutes of light shut eye.

My plan had been to go to the gym after my nap but I decided that I had exactly 3 hours to eat dinner, blog, answer> 100 emails, pack and get organized for our trip and I did not see that all happening in under 3 hours. I MUST MUST get to bed by 8PM or I’ll be so cranky for our trip!! (And 3:45AM wake-up call)

So I passed on the gym. This is my third day of skipping a workout – but in the scheme of life – that’s no big deal. Once this hectic schedule is over I’ll be back to my healthy habits.

We ate dinner at 5:30 because I was starving with no snack and extra hunger hormones from no sleep!

KALE CHIPS!!

IMG_3546 (640x427)

And Beer Cheese Soup leftovers

IMG_3562 (640x427)

I ate half kale chips with ketchup and half romaine + goat cheese salad with Annie’s balsamic to clean out the fridge

IMG_3565 (640x427)

IMG_3557 (640x427)

Snacks packed for the trip!

IMG_3567 (640x427)

I think I might be able to make it to bed by 8 (still have to pack) if I can find something to wear to the wedding!

Sorry to be neglectful of my blog devotion these past 2 days – I miss you all!

What a great dinner! Kale chips are so good. I’m glad to have finally tried them after seeing them here on the blog. 😀

Glad to see you were able to get some rest! You’re right, that in the grand scheme of things, its okay not to make an appearance at the gym. You’ll be back to working out before you know it. 😀

    Safe travels tomorrow! 😀

I had to skip my workout today too. I’ll be honest, I still get a little antsy on the days that I planned a workout and then can’t do it. But like you said – in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter!

I really don’t know how you handle such a crazy schedule. Shew! Have an amazing trip, girl =)

Sometimes when I really want to skip the gym when I have so much to do, I sit back and think if I will feel MORE stressed out with less time, or if I feel worse if I don’t work out. I usually opt to get things done and organized so I can feel satisfied in all parts of my life…otherwise I would just rush though the gym and not enjoy it anyway! It is always better to get the things done that need to be done 🙂

I used to believe one skipped workout would set me back, and now I realize that if I sometimes skip, the next day I’m fresher and can almost do double duty!
