Inner Beauty

I’m 75% of the way packed. Got my clothes and toiletries done, just have to finish all of my miscellaneous stuff like camera charger, Larabars and books. This afternoon is all writing.

I came up for air from my suitcase and came down at 1PM for lunch. I decided on a Great Harvest delight –

On the outside she’s covered in warts and bumps –

But it’s what’s on the inside that counts! Melted Laughing cow and cheddar cheese –

I also made a salad with romaine, green pepper, zucchini, carrot, balsamic, salt, slivered almonds and Great Harvest jalapeno cornbread croutons

I didn’t finish it all. The veggies got a little gaggy on me by the end :(

Tazo Cucumber White tea – LOVED it!! I was worried it would be too watery/cucumbery but it was slightly spicy with a very slight cinnamony taste and had a good amount of body.

Normal Eating

Nutrition By Eve wrote a post about “Normal Eating” as defined by Ellen Satter MSW, RD in her book How to Get Your Kid to Eat: But Not Too Much. I LOVED the description and found myself analyzing myself for normal eating. I think I’m pretty normal 90% of the time. I do have hiccups when I overeat on cookies or eat till I feel sick, and I know I’m emotionally eating when I do that, but overall, I think I do pretty well on her bullet points.

Check out the post here: Normal Eating.

Mmmm….melty cheese on good bread! Looks delish.

I tried the frozen banana “ice cream” recipe you had on here a while back and -holy cow- was that tasty! My 14 month old son loved it as much as I did. We only had to process it for 2 minutes or so in our little food processor and it was ready to go.

Trying it again tonight and thinking about adding a bit of vanilla to it.

I love cheesy, toasted bread! And croutons definitely “make” a salad for me. Mmm, carbs.

Normal eating can be such a hard thing. I think I’m finally getting comfortable with normal eating – with the occasional slip up!

Your sandwich looks great!

speaking of Larabars, have you tried the new flavors yet? I broke down and ordered them from the web site…both PB&J and Tropical Fruit Tart are the best I’ve ever tasted!

All of your Great Harvest breads look fabulous… for some reason the GH stores I go to never seem to have such an interesting, unique selection!

Also, I am giving away a Spi-belt (running belt with pouch) giveaway on my new blog (www.ChicagoMarathonVal.com) if you are interested! :)

Thanks for the link – when I was seeing a nutritionist for my eating disorder, she gave me that same definition. At that point I sort of blew it off, but now I can see its value.

I liked the “normal eating” excerpt. It rings true to me and I hope to be able to follow that advice every day. It’s nice to know that eating normally doesn’t mean eating perfectly all the time. Good post!

BethT ,
I haven’t!!!!! I’ve got so many flavors in my house that I can’t justify ordering them, but if I see one in a store I will buy it for sure!
