I just returned from one final long hot 3 mile beach walk. Matt went running, so I listened to 5 New Moms, New Babies podcasts while I walked. The walk was long, but it went by fast!

Before I left –

I will miss
  • The walks
  • The ocean sounds
  • The seafood
  • The king size bed
  • The to-do list
  • The family

But you know it’s a good vacation when you’re ready to go home.

I can’t wait for
  • Our kitchen
  • Our porch
  • Our garden
  • Our friends
  • Our shady streets
  • Fridays After Five

How about the smell of the ocean? I never get tired of that salty/humid air! :)

It looks like a gorgeous last day, especially compared to the clouds yesterday! I agree – vacations are great (especially when they include beaches) but I’m always ready to come back home to my own bed and kitchen. Safe travels! :)

Kath, do you plan doing another Open Sky sale for the Cville Cluster Granola?

Going home after a long trip is always welcome, but also a bit of a let down for me. Life’s a beach! :)

Glad you had such a wonderful time on vacation :) Who tended to the garden while you and Matt were away? & about how long of a drive is the ocean from where you guys live? Have a great day!

Beautiful walks! DC has a similar “Fridays after Five”; a free jazz concert in the National Gallery of Art! It’s a massive event and always packed, but a good effort on the city’s part.

Have a safe trip back to Cville! Baby KERF is going to be here in the blink of an eye, and you will be so happy you had this trip.

It’s always bittersweet when a great vacation comes to an end. I always look forward to home, but miss the excitement/relaxation of a great trip away. Be safe!

Kath I am so sad your trip has come to an end because it was like re-living my life, a decade ago. It doesn’t appear that much has changed on that beach. It’s as gorgeous as I remember it and I am so happy you guys had SUCH a great time and PERFECT weather!

Was it a Thursday-Wednesday rental? Just curious how they set it up to include the holiday weekend.

24 KathEats May 31, 2012 at 10:49 am

Thurs-Thurs. It’s still considered the “value season” so we could do a nightly rental for a week

Drive safely. Vacations are nice but there’s no place like home. :)

As much fun as it is to get away…it is just as fun heading home! I always feel refreshed, rejuvinated and ready to tackle my everyday life after a trip away…even if it is just for a weekend! Safe driving!

It’s always bittersweet leaving a vacation spot, but I’m always happy thinking about sleeping in my own bed and just being back at home :)

Vacation is great and relaxing, but getting home–especially when you have to drive–feels better!

Great idea to make a list about other things you are looking forward to. When something fun and relaxing ends I always find myself kinda in a slump…next time I’m going to make a positive list!
