Home Alone

Last night at dinner Matt and I discussed each of us taking a day or long afternoon off each week. Today just kind of happened to be my day, although I’m headed in to the bakery now. I spent the whole morning at home getting some projects done, and he had the office computer all to himself – we are more productive in our own ways!

IMG_2950Blog

I think I’m going to take off Tuesdays and he will take off Thursdays after the doughs are done. We’ll see how it goes!

I wanted to cook something, but I also didn’t want to dirty anything in the kitchen. So I made iced tea!

IMG_2942Blog

And decorated the houses with the new vintage boxes my mom gave me!! LOVE them!

IMG_2947BlogIMG_2949Blog

IMG_2956Blog

Also did lots of laundry.

IMG_2954Blog

I would not recommend putting hot sheets on a bed in July at noon with no AC on! Too much warmth!

IMG_2959Blog

I also did a little touching up in the kitchen. These lids have been driving me crazy in the back of a cabinet – I moved them to the pots n pans cabinet in a basket. Much better!

IMG_2952Blog

New tea towel from mom from BB&B

IMG_2951Blog

Lunch @ 1:30!

IMG_2966Blog

IMG_2965Blog

Big salad crunched with olive oil and salt and topped with carrots, parrano cheese, leftover greek chicken, capers and avocado!

IMG_2961Blog

Cheddar garlic on the side. I would have preferred one of our whole grain breads, but this is all we had at home. Sure tasted great!

IMG_2963Blog

IMG_2969Blog

Iced tea! Lesson learned: if you don’t like it hot, you probably won’t like it cold either. This was Twinnings Chai decaf. Too much spice for me.

IMG_2967BlogIMG_2960Blog

ā€˜Bout to bike in – it’s gonna be a hot one!

Oh my gosh I ADORE those boxes. Your mom has such a good eye for things!

And the basket for the pots and pan lids is a really good idea – mine too drive me NUTS and no matter how I try to organize them it just never seems to work well. I’m definitely going to go the basket route!

Also? I hear ya on the tea thing. I’ve tried “icing” versions I don’t like hot before but it doesn’t do it for me either. ESPECIALLY the spicy teas – how do people drink those!?

When you are self-employed, it’s imperative to take days off. If you don’t take them, no one is going to give them to you, right? šŸ™‚ That’s how Dustin and I see it.

That salad looks delish. Love adding leftovers to greens. Yum!

Chai for me = the spicier the better!! šŸ™‚
I often buy the Stash Double Spiced Chai teabags – or make my own Chai from scratch on the stove. (infinitely better, and infinitely more time consuming!).

Congrats on a productive ‘around the house’ morning. I need one of those soon!

I LOVE the cheddar garlic. I bought it from the Lexington, MA store a few weeks ago and froze some of it, so we’re having it w/ our pasta tonight. I have also used it as a bun for my cheeseburger and that was especially scrumptious. It’s so heavy and doughy, almost like a thick pastry – deeeelicious.

Hmm. I’m not sure I’d agree about the hot/cold thing! There are some teas I prefer hot and others I prefer cold. This is even more so with coffee. I’m really not into unsweetened hot coffee, but for some reason when it’s on ice, the bitterness goes away and I don’t really need to sweeten it. So weird!

I’m not really sure since we’re renting the house and weren’t given any specifics. I clean them just like I used to clean our granite – with a spray and cloth. I honestly don’t like them very much. Things tend to stick onto them – like label imprints and stuff – and I much prefer something more sleek.
