Fog Jog

IMG_2930Blog

I nearly got lost in the fog this morning! But it made for a fun run. That is, until it burned off halfway through!!

The key to morning runs for me is to mentally prepare. I swear my body feels more energized if I know I’m going to run then if I wake up and consider a run. I usually back on with the latter.

4.16 miles to start my day.

On days that I run I like to plan insta-breakfasts that are cold. OIAJ is the perfect solution!

IMG_2926Blog

Today it’s “overnight oats in a decorative tall jar”

 this !

IMG_2929Blog

Filled with:

  • 1/3 cup raw rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk (I add slightly more milk to accommodate the chia seeds and because I like my dough on the softer size – more liquid makes it softer)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Pinch salt
  • Sprinkle cinnamon
  • Half banana
  • 1/3 cup blueberries
  • Lots of Cville Cluster granola

IMG_2934Blog

Iced coffee. In the new permanent iced coffee cup!

IMG_2928Blog

I shot these with my 50mm lens, which I rarely use. Since buying my 35mm f/2.0 I’ve barely put on my 50mm f/1.8, which I used to think was fabulous. Not only did I have trouble getting good frames, but all the photos (even those shot in f/8.0) seem slightly blurred. 35mm or bust!!

IMG_2931Blog

IMG_2922Blog

I’m taking the morning off from the bakery to get some things done around the house and for the blog.

One of those things involves these. Get excited. So excited you can almost taste ‘em!

I got a mess of those jars (they have a nice sturdy wooden lid) at Michael’s years ago when we were giving M and M’s to welcome new members at church. Don’t know if they still sell them or not.

Mental preparation is always the biggest challenge for me, in any task! Sometimes, though, I find just not even thinking about it and doing it before I can talk myself out of it is the best method, whether I have mentally set up or not. Yesterday, I randomly just laced up my sneakers and started running. About 1/2 a mile through I was totally shocked and said, “Whoa, when did I start running?!” Ha. At times, I just have to trick myself into not knowing what’s going on 😉

I always love how I feel after an early morning run too, but this morning I skipped my run because I was up waaaayy too late last night. I had a good reason though, I was at a concert with my husband at the House of Blues and we had a great time. Now I have to fit my run in on my lunch break.

The 50mm is a tough one to shoot food with. The 1.8 is such a neat effect, but it makes the focusing hard. When I shoot food, I try to keep it at 2.8 (which you could do with the 35mm but not the stock lens) and I usually always manually focus because the auto focus goes nuts at times. My next purchase might be the 35mm … you have me pretty convinced …

Hopefully this doesn’t seem creepy and stalker-ish (I live in CT so I can’t stalk anything but your blog). I think it might be because I read my google reader on my iphone in bed before I go to sleep some nights. So now I feel like I’ve met you (last night it was one of those very realistic dreams where you really feel like it was real–despite being sort of a regular, every day sort of experience).

Overnight oats are the best in it! And find a long spoon 🙂

this jar’s contents look so yummy! i want to find out from you if there is ANY possible way i can buy your clusters, mixes etc from the GH range although i am halfway around the world… is it possible to transfer you the amount and after you have confirmation ship me some? seems like the only way , seeing that i cannot do purchases via OpenSky? i am interrested in quite few products and would like to be able to support your business 🙂

And I would love to sell them to you. But I just don’t know logistically if we could make it work. I just don’t think Matt and I are ready to start shipping. I’ve gotten a lot of requests and feel that I’d have to honor them all.

      I’m sorry!

I’ve been doing some research about lenses and have learned that 50mm is popular for food photography so it’s interesting to read your perspective. I’ve also heard some awesome things about the 35mm before as well so I’m diving in to some more reviews and forums to come up with a decision, but thanks for sharing!

Your dishes are beautiful!!!! I’m finally allowed to run again!!!! 🙂 I went to the surgeon who said that running won’t cause a dry socket at this point, so yay!!!

I wondered if the hint was about online sales! I sure hope so! 🙂 I don’t know if you are allowed to tell me this but does CVille Cluster have walnuts in it?

Darn I’m allergic. Oh well–I bet there are plenty of walnut free things I could try instead! 🙂

Foggy runs are nice but wondering whether or not the cars see you gets a little scary. It sure beats the sun shining down in full force.
    Good run and DELICIOUS eats.
