Beans And Non-Musical Fruit

The best summer snacks involve fruit

IMG_2973Blog

And I am so hooked on blueberries and cream (although that is really soy milk from the bakery, not really cream!)

IMG_2978Blog

And on top – Savannah bar crumbles! I may have eaten more than my share of those today

IMG_2977Blog

When I arrived at the bakery, I sent Matt home. Smart move because he offered to make dinner! (After a few hours of Conan, cartoons and beer, I imagine!) I told him to do something with beans and he came up with a beany salad

IMG_2985Blog

Garden greens mixed with dill and a homemade beer vinaigrette (which we would NOT recommended due to the banana Belgian beer he used) plus cucumber, green pepper, navy beans and cheddar garlic croutons

IMG_2982Blog

IMG_2986Blog

Since we’re around food all day, light dinners like these are just what we’ve been craving.

IMG_2980BlogIMG_2991Blog

When you’re thirsty and craving something sweet, guess what the perfect solution is? More watermelon!

Also – the other night I was DYING of thirst and literally ate through 6 wedges of watermelon – so I can personally attest to the fact that it does in fact serve as a thirst quencher! Haha.

Pacioli, the considered father of contemporary double entry accounting systems (circa 1450- an Italian monk) is possibly spinning in his grave due to your views on accounting principles. Some thoughts – the basic accounting equation is; assets minus liabilities equal equity. For every debit there is a credit – hence double entry. Depreciation is a noncash expense. Contra accounts actually make your life better. And, old accountants never die, they just lose their balance. You have a good analytical mind, keep forging ahead in your quest for accounting mastery. Good luck to you!

banana Belgian beer + greens…yeah, bananas are a tricky one (with beer added!) to mix well with other things like garlic and cheddar croutons. But Matt gets an A for effort & creativity!

I love the bloobs + cream shot

And I may have used heavy whipping cream + peaches over the weekend

I also made a mixed berry clafouti with cream and berries…sounds hard, takes 10 mins. And it satisfies my fruit ‘n cream cravings!

I don’t tend to snack at night. I often will have one small thing after dinner – a piece of chocolate or watermelon like last night, but I try to end my day with dinner. If I’m up really late and it’s been a long time since dinner (or come home from a night out drinking  ) I will sometimes I something more substantial that is almost always cereal and milk. But that’s not too often. I think the appeal of going to bed is always greater than the thought of eating.

“The best summer snacks involve fruit” Can we sew that on a pillow? It’s so true. What is a refreshing summery month snack without a perfectly ripe melon or berry of some sort? A sad snack. By the way, do you just pour your soymilk over the berries or do you whip it into some sort of cream for “berries and cream?” The world could be happier if soymilk would whip into cream. Please let me know. 🙂
