Today was absolutely crazy!! I didn’t have a single minute to just lay down and relax. That said, I did have a ton of fun!
Mid-morning we went out for a run. We were short on time so we ran FAST! Our first two miles were both 8:32 (so glad I still have my running groove) but I’ve lost a little because I nearly lost it on mile 3 when Matt kept asking me questions and making me talk between breaths while sprinting up hills that I got a bad cramp and we had to walk (I was also really dehydrated and it was really hot). But we ended up doing 4.0 miles in 35 something minutes. Not bad! I’m happy to say that 5 weeks later my leg feels 100% healed. Not sure I’ll be running any more half marys anytime soon, but I hope to build back up this summer and run another one.
Dripping upon our return:
Just after coming back we got a call from our realtor – HOUSE SHOWING at 2PM! Wheee! But OMG! Clean!
That turned into 30 minutes of:
And
And
The house looks awesome!! We haven’t heard back yet how the appt. went. I’m hoping that’s a good sign!?
Back when I bought the tickets to see WICKED I had envisioned a lazy Sunday where we could go to a fancy brunch and mosey on over to the theater. Totally not so. We were running around and just barely had time to assemble something to eat. Our plans for a fancy brunch quickly went out the window!
Matt made some cheddar + jam melts on Dakota while I showered
Along with a ton of watermelon
And we were off.
Unfortunately I had the time wrong for our WICKED tickets and we arrived at 2PM – right when the show was starting (I though it was 2:30PM). We were 1 minute too late, and they made us wait for 9 whole minutes to enter the theater. I had tears in my eyes. But thankfully once we were in, the show was great.
Brilliant. Clever. Witty. Amazing set. Gorgeous costumes. Awesome music. Exceeded expectations!! I didn’t care at all that it was different than the book because I felt all the changes were improvements. (I didn’t love the book)
I wore all green!!!
Matt love everything but the plot. (I thought it incorporated The Wizard of Oz brilliantly.)
Did you know that I played Dorothy in our 2nd grade version of The Wizard of Oz? As a result I’ve always had a special connection to the work. Dad and I danced to "Over The Rainbow" at my wedding, and I’ve always requested the song at events. So this show was extra special for me.
Thanks to my MOM for treating us to the tickets for Valentine’s Day! (She LOVES the show
)
The show was over around 5PM and we went straight to EarthFare on our way home for groceries. We got some good stuff!!
When we finally came home, I packed my lunch and snacked on almonds.
And then we turned right around and went back to the Romance’s because….
OMG the new Las Vegas residents just happened to be in Charlotte!!!!!!!!! We had no idea and it was such an unexpected surprise to see them! Makes me miss them even more that we got to spend a night together
Kate and Nate had planned a family dinner for two and luckily had enough food to turn it into a party of 6. Thanks so much for the last minute invite guys!
We snacked on cheese, crackers and pears (same as last night!) while dinner cooked.
It was a good old fashioned Sunday dinner!
Pork tenderloin
Risotto!
Asparagus, roasted veggies, french bread
We opened this Brancott Sauvignon Blanc last night and brought it back to the Romance’s for round II!
The bottle was sent to me to review. Interestingly, Brancott Vineyards, creators of the original Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and one of the founding members of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, has partnered with Blue Ocean Institute and Chef Barton Seaver to support Blue Ocean Institute’s effort to restore living abundance in the ocean.
The bottle retails for $26!! (Lucky me).
Matt and I both liked it a lot. We agreed it was very crisp, acidic, mineraly with a good bit of lemon/grapefruit citrus. Very classic Marlborough indeed! We both thought it was great for sipping.
I had a glass and a half
Dinner tasted so good!!!
We brought over some dessert
And Kate had Breyers Vanilla and frozen/thawed berries. SO GOOD! I could have had 10 bowls..
Off to squeeze in 10 minutes of reading in bed relaxation before sleepin’ time…

what a fun day!
I have never seen wicked.
Sounds like a busy but good day.
Awww, what a fun day! I’ve been wanting to see Wicked FOREVER – I’m hoping maybe sometime over the summer.
Your dinner looked so nice! Good variety of everything…especially the vanilla frozen yogurt! YUMM!
i am DYING to see Wicked! i am soooo glad you liked it
Wow! Yes, a very busy but fabulous day! Great pics
What a jam-packed day (no pun intended due to your jam sammie!)! I am seeing Wicked this week and I can’t wait. Your review just made me even more excited! I hope the house visit was a success!
Enjoy your week.
I have been waiting for your post to see how wicked went. And as usual it didn’t disappoint! Love the green ensemble! Your dinner looks especially tasty tonight, too!
I like your Wicked outfit. Green and black were the perfect choice.
Looks like a fantastic evening! The berries for dessert look heavenly!
Can’t believe they made you wait before entering the show!
That looks like such a fun day!!! And yay for the pain free run!
That’s too bad you didn’t get time to relax, but glad you had a good day and I’m jealous of that fresh watermelon.
What a FUNday SUNday. I saw Wicked last V.day and thought it was wonderful.
I’m assuming that it’s a just a shadow from your visor, but it sorta looks like you have a black eye : )
Wow what a busy day! Wicked must have been absolutely incredible
Those berries look great. The last minute dinner party must have been fun!
Holy wow those berries…they have to be one of the best parts of summer, without a doubt! So jealous you got to go see Wicked. Live productions are the best – I got to see the off-broadway cast of The Lion King a year ago, and it was such a great experience!
I love Wicked – I saw it twice at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles… The soundtrack is fantastic as well!
you’re so cute wearing green to go see wicked. i bet you weren’t the only one!!!
Jealous! I’ve wanted to see Wicked for a while! I’m glad it was good, I need to make arrangements to see it soon (:
Glad you loved Wicked! I would have so much fun singing along!
Whew, it was definitely a humid day. Watermelon was probably the perfect cool-down.
Looks like you guys had fun!
Ahhh! So glad you loved Wicked! It is one of my fave musicals, too. It’s coming to St. Louis, so I may see it again if I’m still here. Hope the internship is going well! Last week of staff relief this week for me, and then I’m done. Super scary but exciting!
I’m glad you enjoyed Wicked! That is so frustrating that you had to wait outside the doors for a while! ugh. You didn’t miss too much though
Wicked is among my favorite musicals! That scene with all the black and white was my favorite…
What a tasty looking spread! I’ve never tried to make my own risotto before. I love it though.
good luck on the house showing. i LOVE Wicked, I’ve seen it twice, but have never read the book.
I hated the book Wicked but loved the play. The book was just too dark for me. But Hunni loved both.
Aww, you look so cute all in green!! Glad you loved WICKED! I agree – I loved how they incorporated the Wizard of Oz into it, and I like the show waaay better than the book.
What a wonderful Sunday dinner!
You looked so good in your all green outfit
You rocked it !
Yay for Wicked! I went on St. Patty’s day and of course wore green!! I kept trying to read the book after the play and still haven’t finished!
Looks like a fun, successful (busy) day!! What fun to have K and N in town and dinner x2 with friends this weekend!
I really would love to see Wicked! If only it will come here on stage! I also love live theatre, definitely want to research and buy tickets to some upcoming shows! Make sme think of off-broadway in NYC!
Wow, SUCH a busy day! Looks like a lot of fun though
I want some ice cream and berries now…
Oh my gosh I picked the WORST time to go to the bathroom when I went and saw Wicked. I left during a clap break before the intermission to beat the crowds, but then they WOULDN’T LET ME BACK IN! I missed all of the drama and amazing singing at the end of the first act. I kept my tears back, but I was freaking out inside. I was so tempted to just walk through the doors when they weren’t looking, but I didn’t have the guts.
Glad you had a great time!
I saw Wicked last summer and LOVED it! This is funny, I was also Dorothy in a school play when I was in kindergarten.
Wow that does sound like a busy day! How petty of the theatre to not let you in!? Surely 9mins late is worse than 1min?! Oh well, at least the show was good! I’ve never seen Wicked, I don’t even know what it’s about :s
Have a good Monday
I’m sorry you missed the opening song, but glad you loved the production overall. Isn’t it fantastic? I have the sheet music and the CD, so I can either sing along to someone else doing the music or play it myself
I love busy days like that, it makes the time go by and having your heart rate up throughout the day makes me feel good the next day.
Dinner looks incredible! What a lovely spread.
Jenn
Your green outfit is so cute! I’m glad you enjoyed Wicked. I haven’t seen it myself, but my friends have and they’re RAVING about it all the time!
Your dinner looks delicious. A traditional Sunday roast sometimes really hits the spot!
i hope you had the greatest weekend!
Wei-Wei
Your outfit was so cute, Kath! You look great in green.
I would have been crying too if I missed the first 9 minutes! But you really didn’t miss much. I’m happy to hear you enjoyed it so much! I love broadway shows
Finally got to Crate and Barrel and purchased those cute, ceramic condiment spoons. Plus 3 mini ramikans and a 5-bowl set of mini mixing bowls in assorted colors. Will have to show them off on the blog soon. Thanks so much for the tip!
Glad you liked Wicked! I wore all green when I saw it too…it just seemed appropriate.
Wow. You’ve been busy but at least you’ve had some fun too
Sauv Blancs from the Malborough region in NZ are my absolute favorite cocktail wines. I’ve had Brancott before as well and also think it’s stellar!
You should try Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc sometime. It’s cheaper than the Brancott, but excellent. I also like Nobilo and Monkey Bay. Good stuff!
You can lead a horse to water, but you can not make her drink!
I loved the green outfit but why did you wear flip flops to the theater?
Wow, a very impressive last minute dinner indeed!
I loved wicked the first time I saw it! It’s my favorite musical by far. That watermelon looks so good!!
Hey! Tim and I just saw Wicked in London a few weeks ago, and we both loved it! I’m glad you put a picture up of the set–it’s the same as in London because Tim and I had wondered about different venues having different sets!
Loved the show, too, but I’ll admit that the book was one of two books I’ve *ever* thrown away. :p
That’s funny, I just went to see it last week too. I had the exact same reaction. Didn’t care all that much for the book, but loved the musical.
