Keg stands at the bakery? Well, what did you expect!?
But don’t worry – Matt brought in a keg of SPARKLING WATER that we mixed with lemonade for cocktail hour ; )
And the pizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzaaaaaaaa! omg.
First, afternoon snack. Still totally in love with berries.
And sweet crumbles!! I made a little version of blackberry cobbler!
Our employee meeting was pretty short and sweet as far as work meetings go. Things have been going well – we just had a few things to go over in person and a few new t-shirts to hand out!
To prep, Matt assembled pizzas made for big balls of leftover dough
And we put together a GIANT garden salad! From the garden!! Good thing we have lots of greens = free!
When the meeting ended, the pizzas went in the oven and came out puffed and perfect!
We made two on hearty doughs – Dakota and Nine Grain – topped with pesto, tomatoes, peppers, cheese and half organic + local sausage and one just a cheese bomb on Cheddar Garlic dough that was insane!!
I filled half my plate with greens and the other half with gooey, cheesy dough. Hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had!!
The Cheddar Garlic was my favorite. It was every-so-slightly undercooked and all puffed up in doughy delight. I had to go back for a second square!!! The employees were declaring fullness – I could have eaten another 3 pieces! But I tried to use intuitive eating and stopped before it was too late.
Of course it wouldn’t be Great Harvest without a sweet taste for dessert. Scuffin bite. Small portions are where it’s at.
Since it poured rain all afternoon, I actually left my bike at the bakery and plan to walk in tomorrow and bike home. It was kinda nice to ride in an air conditioned car on the ride home with Matt!
Cannot WAIT to read in bed! Really enjoying my new book!

Oh my goodness… Those pizzas look amazing! I probably would have indulged too much! “When you indulge you bulge!” (LOL)
http://faithfulsolutions.blogspot.com/
LOL – that just reminded me of something my aunt used to say at Thanksgiving. “Sometimes the best exercise is to push away from the table.”
Oh my gosh kath those look amazing! seriously! will you be selling dough from now on?
We haven’t quite put it on the menu, but it’s coming
oh. my. god. i want that pizza, now!
Can’t wait to eat some pizza crumbles at the bakery
Lucky you
You and Matt make the best bosses! Looks like a lot of fun. And I loved the book you’re reading. Good night!
Ya’ll look like you have SO much fun at work! What a great crew. If you ever want to hire a graphic designer/marketing specialist…give me a shout! Haha! I love bread (and keg stands…).
Wow! That dough is where it’s at! I’d journey a long way for that. I’ll be in town in the fall…hope it’s available by then.
Any work meeting that ends with (presumably) free food for employees is awesome- and that pizza looks a whole lot better than generic sub sandwiches or plastics tubs of cookies from grocery store.
Haha – Matt cracks me up in this post. Your sides must hurt all the time with him around
Those pizzas DO look divine – I love a slightly doughy crust, you really can’t beat it.
Glad you had a fun night – enjoy your book reading, I’m about to go do the same!
That pizza looks AMAZING!!!! I’m so jealous! Sounds like you and Matt are awesome to work for
Oh my GOD that pizza looks incredible!!!!
I loved The House At Riverton – hope you enjoy it too!
matt = best boss in the world.
That looks like the best pizza ever! And I love the keg stand lol
OMG that pizza .. looks SOOO good!! I would die for a slice of that right now. Looks million times better the anything I make!!!
We used Matt’s pizza dough recipie you’ve posted here for dinner tonight
Super tasty but it never gets that puffy on my pizza stone, how do you do it?
Well the Cheddar Garlic dough is 100% white flour, so it has no bran to weigh it down. The other two didn’t puff as much. Also, our Revent oven is pretty awesome
Better than a home oven for even cooking.
Haha wait that is EERILY similar to my Tuesday happy hour. I did green juice, lemon juice, stevia drops, and sparkling water. SO GOOD!
Better than delivery! But – if you were following intuitive eating, wouldn’t you have went back for more if you wanted it…?
I know, I know – the brain says one thing, the stomach another!!
If you put pizza on the oven, I have a feeling you’d be best-sellers!
FUN!! Im so jealous you get to spend so much time with your husband
AND I can’t wait to hear what you think of that book, I keep hearing it’s so good!
sometimes i can eat a whole pizza pie and not be full. until the next day when i wonder why i’m not hungry.
Why can’t you and Matt be my bosses?! My meetings never look quite like that…
I love plain cheese pizza and the doughy garlic crust sounds incredible! Can I put in a special request before my next visit to C-Ville?
Enjoy your time relaxing with the good book!
Wow — I can see why that’s the best pizza you’ve ever had; it looks so fresh and yummers. Mmm!
Talk about hearty pizza dough
These look awesome!! You guys have some lucky employees
The sausage pizza looks divine!…sooo hungry..
Oh keg stands…classic fun times.
“Hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had!!”– ok that is super high praise and a big statement. I am guessing it was pretty amazing then
Enjoy your book and your evening, Kath!
Mini pizzas on the menu?! I’d definitely grab one for lunch. If I lived anywhere near there, I mean…
Pretty sure you have a new menu item in the works…. holy yummy cheese! That looks SO good
pizza at great harvest?? I like this! Yumm!
I knew this pizza was going to look amazing. Jealous!!
The first time I ever made homemade pizza was with great harvest dough. I love it! Plus it’s pretty cheap at our GHB.
That LOOKS like the best pizza ever. Yum!
Some amazing looking food you got there!!!
I am now craving pizza lol!
Wow, those pizzas look good! I bet your employees love you two!
Would you ever contemplate selling Pizza at GH? I might have to make the drive down from DC if that happens!
I kind of want to work at your bakery. For real.
Ha, that first picture of the keg stand had me laughing!! All of those pizzas looks FANTASTIC!! Now I have a major pizza craving!
THOSE PIZZAS LOOK AMAZING!!!! Omg garlic cheddar crust!!?!?!?!?! YES PLEASE!
That sure does look like the best pizza ever! YUM. YUM. I’m hungry just looking at the goodness.
You should totally sell pizza! I would fly to Virginia just for a slice
Well you do have the perfect oven for it now! It would be sad to not use it for that! The pizzas look amazing! I’m glad things are going well and that you are having fun along with work! I’m loving my blackberries too! Perfect summertime treat!
I think GH should start selling pizzas! Those look amazing! I love pizza!
The crust!! Oh my goodness!!! I would pay good money for that pizza!
Can I come work for you guys?
I LOVE homemade pizza. Hubby makes it not-often-enough! YUM. Your pictures were making me salivate.
Those pizzas look insane!!! I hope your putting them on the menu soon. I would have eaten 3 more slices.
Mmmm… Maybe y’all should add pizza to the lunch menu?!? They sure do look yummy!
I wish we had greens like that growing in our garden! My one little lettuce plant can barely make a salad for ust me at this point!
Air conditioning and no pedaling is a luxery in life that we take for granted!
They are all *SUPER* lucky to have you as bosses! Looks like fun and quite yummy!
I see that picture of Matt…..go, go, go, go, go, go, go….
The pizza looks to die for!!
Oh my GAWD! That looks AMAZING! Garlic cheddar?! I have been craving garlic like crazy lately. Are you guys hiring? haha YUM x infinity!
Bakery shenanigans! I spy bakery shenanigans!
What a fun meeting and the pizza looks just perfect, beautiful pictures!
Oh my gosh. That looks soooooooooooo good. I love ever-so-slightly undercooked baked goods. Make it a garlic crust and top it with yummy, gooey cheese? My computer may end up with lick marks on the screen.
Keep rockin’, Kath!
When I read on Allie’s blog about a pizza meeting at GH, takeaway boxes came to mind- what was I thinking! Clearly I should have known better! You and Matt seem like such considerate bosses, your employees are fortunate…
Wow! Those pizzas look amazing and I hope you start serving those at your bakery. Your posts have forced me to go to my local Great Harvest Bread. They sell pizza dough at the bakery…. are you guys going to do that?
Congrats once again!
Oh and one more thing, I made the best sandwich on Nine Grain Great Harvest Bread. Check this one out…Chickpea, Beet, and Apple on Nine Grain. This sandwich was AMAZING!
http://eatdrinkandbeaware.blogspot.com/2011/06/sandwich-mania-healthy-blackberry-pie.html
all I have to say is WOW. I’m not even a big pizza fan (crazy, I know) and those pizzas look to die for.
those pizzas look awesome. i bet they were delicious- i know the feeling- when foods just so good, you really could eat more but you know that you’ll be miserably full.
and sometimes a girl just needs an air conditioned car ride
Those pizzas look so delicious! Your employees are really lucky
Wow you should really sell those pizzas, they look amazing! A slice with a salad would be a perfect lunch
Looks like so much fun, and those pizzas look AMAZING!!! The dough can seriously make or break a pizza, and these look incredible!
Ohh yummmmmmm
I feel like you could sell that pizza on the menu! If you feel like expanding… you know, less than a month after you open
RE. Pizza at the bakery, it seems pretty simple, but it was actually a LOT of labor to do. We will most definitely be selling pizza dough, but we probably will not do pizzas. Also because that would really separate us from a bread bakery to a restaurant and we’d like to keep things focused on the bread. We might do little pizza knots or something, but we’re not going to be able to do fresh hot pizzas at lunchtime. As much as I’d like to!
So… when can I come work for you guys?
You guys look like fun bosses! And you serve pizza!
Wow, those pizzas look amazing!!!
Kath, just wanted to let you know Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft is having a 40% off everything sale right now. Online and I believe in stores!
Liza
Oh nice!! Maybe I can make it out tomorrow?
I would try pizza on leftover GH dough anyday! The spinach feta dough would be an awesome pizza base
Those pizzas look so hearty! I’m typically a thin crust girl, but they could convert me!
Super freshly baked pizza and a huge garden salad sounds like a dream for meeting food!
Your work meetings are DEFINITELY better than ours. We’ve been discussing a move to cville – I may have to come get a PT job ; )
Hey Kath!
I don’t know if you’ve had the chance to get out to Grelen Nursery in Somerset, VA (20 minutes from Cville) to pick your own raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. This is their first year of bringing the public in to pick and it’s divine. You get to pick a huge bounty of the yummiest berries in an amazing setting.
http://www.grelennursery.com/grelen-farm-market.html
Hope you get to go before the season is over!!
Oh man, how many weeks are left?! I’d love to go!
There’s more time because the blackberries just came out and the yellow, red and black raspberries are still there along with blueberries. The three kinds of raspberries taste so different from one another plus they’re beautiful to boot! Maybe you can get some and put them in your Great Harvest goodies!! I’d definitely come for that!
Oh there really is nothing like homemade pizza. I think I probably could have eaten one of those on my own. With the salad.
Wow! Those pizza’s look incredible!!! I hope you are going to sell them!
I just read that book!! soo good. Enjoy!
pizza looks amazingggg.

I definitely was not hungry! Just not stuffed. Perfect stopping time.
OMG, that pizza looks incredible!! and love the sparkling lemonade idea- yummm.
wow. those pizzas looks so yummy and I can only imagine how the garlic cheddar tasted! Drooling now. thank you.
Those pizzas look ah-mazing!
Yum yum pizza! That looks great!
A mix of sparkling water and lemonade sounds right up my alley, I have never really been a fan of the real cocktail mixtures, I always complain they put way too much vodka.lols Yum, those pizzas looks amazing!
