Beans + Seeds

Howdy from the bread shop, now serving Red White & Blueberry muffins and Peach Blackberry Savannah bars!

And a Decaf iced coffee for owner #1!

IMG_2215 (640x427)

All of you who have tolerated my complaints about coffee + caffeine for the past year and recommended decaf, thank you. All I needed was to find a decaf I liked!! And thanks to Shenandoah Joe’s – I have!

IMG_2222 (640x427)

I didn’t get hungry for lunch all morning, which is odd because I did NOT nibble on a thing!!! Probably because I kept busy + hydrated : )

IMG_2220 (640x427)

Leftover gazpacho filled to the brim with garbanzos. LOVED this combo!!!! Also loved the roasted corn on the inside.

IMG_2221 (640x427)

Complete with a crunchy slice of Dakota off the breadboard. I have to admit I am not the biggest fan of Dakota…until I put it in my mouth!!!!!!!!! When given a choice I would rather have High Five!, Nine Grain, Cinnamon Raisin, Popeye. But today I had an inkling for Dakota and forgot how darn good this bread is!!! It’s all about the seedy crunch.

IMG_2219 (640x427)

And the balls of millet. Can’t forget those!

IMG_2218 (640x427)

IMG_2216 (640x427)

We’re staying at work late tonight for our first official employee meeting – but that means we get to crank up the ovens and make some PIZZA!!! Of course on GH dough. Matt just arrived with a trash bag of garden greens for a salad and a keg (and it’s NOT full of beer!)

After drooling over your Cville Granola for weeks, I finally hit up the Great Harvest in Austin to see if they make granola… they do! Picked up a bag of their Cashew Granola Crunch which has HUGE clusters of soft goodness. Do you all use the same base recipe? I’m in love. Also picked up a loaf of Honey Whole Wheat – such a treat!

Seriously coffe isn’t a bad thing…too much coffee is. I’ve been wondering about your determination to avoid coffee. It actually has a lot of health benefits and antioxidants and of course the mood boosting effects, as long as kept to less than 3 cups per day. It totally fits into a healthy lifestyle. I know I would never be without my morning cup of coffee, no decaf, choffy or any substitite would do and it’s simply not worth it to me. I can send you studies from med journals if you like…
Other than that kudos to you for such a healthy lifestyle. We can all learn from you.

You must have skimmed over my posts about the reason for cutting back on coffee! I actually did a nutrition project citing the research that 2 cups or less is good for you. I love it and don’t think there’s anything wrong with drinking it, as you say.

My reason for cutting back had to do with addiction and headaches as well as sleeping. If I have more than 1 cup I get jittery and can’t sleep and if I have less I get really bad headaches. I was clearly addicted and I didn’t like it! So I cut it out for the month of April and gradually added it back.

So why don’t you just drink 1 cup exactly? That way you don’t get jittery + you avoid headaches
