Oh whatta day!
We’re back home. And home doesn’t feel like home because we might have to evacuate the premises in 30 days
[No news on our counter offer yet...]
After blogging we read a little on the porch and made our way to Biltmore Village for a little walking. We weren’t sure if we wanted to get on the road or eat an early lunch. Decided on lunch!
At the famous Corner Kitchen.
We had to wait 30 minutes and killed the time walking around the village area.
Tired of smiling for photos:
I really wanted the Lavender Chicken Salad but they were serving it on the brunch menu.
But something I might not have thought twice about caught my attention: Lox + Bagel. It came with homefries but I was able to sub in a really nice side salad. Perfect!
That would be a wedge of cream cheese. I ate half the bagel and a few tsp of cream cheese and gave the other half to Matt.
The salmon was awesome!
The bagel was huge and I think it was fried!?!? It tasted kind of like a funnel cake. In a good way!
Matt got Sesame Crusted Catfish over an Asian Salad. He raved about it!! I had a bite of the fish – it was perfectly crispy! All in all, we were really impressed by Corner Kitchen. I need to go back and try that lavender salad!!
Take me homeeeeee, country roaddddsss
I made a wager with Matt: If he drove the whole way home, I would do all the grocery shopping. He agreed!! SCORE! I HATE DRIVING!
Passing by Lake Lure – it was packed!
Once we arrived home (2.20 later) I had a Voskos Honey Vanilla Bean with some Hemp Plus. Loved the flavor. Not too sweet! Always a plus for flavored yogurts for me.
And I went on a grocery shopping trip to EarthFare and Harris Teeter. It was good. I like food!
While I was gone, Matt and his friend "Bun Bun" played. Since he sits at the kitchen table on his computer quite often, he’s noticed that Bun Bun lives in the yard and comes out to play frequently, nibbling on our garden. Matt caught him in action today!
So cute!!
I came home from Earthfare and opened up a treat I had in the fridge. Drank half. I love these things and I have no idea why.
I got to work on the old lunchbox and on dinner as well.
Tonight’s dinner was AMAZING but I can’t share the recipe because it’s going in a COOKBOOK! A real, live cookbook. Goodbite, where I’ve done a few videos, got a book deal and invited me to participate
Behold: Good Bite’s Weeknight Meals: Delicious Made Easy is coming to shelves Fall 2011.
I’m really excited about this new fishy recipe!
On the side of the mysterious recipe, I sautéed some bitter mustard greens along with a squeeze of lemon and some Garlic Gold Parmesan nuggets.
And Matt grilled and buttered some corn!
Romantic end to a romantic weekend:
Goodnight, sweetheart, goodnight.

Mmm that fish looks so yummy! I’m so intrigued by the mystery!
Yummy looking fish and corn!
Glad you had a nice weekend in Aville. Too bad your dinner at Market Basket was sub-par. I’m from Asheville and have eaten at MB several times with the same disappointing experience it seems you had. Their menu looks so promising, but the result is just as you put it…lackluster.
I’m sure it’s nice to be home in your own bed.
Smoked salmon makes my heart flutter
On long drives, I absolutely must drive. I get way too bored otherwise.
Looks like a flax-coating.
You and Matt inspire me that real love is possible . You both are so sweet. I am sure as long as you two are together – you will always feel at home, no matter if its out in 30 days!
That bagel looks mighty good. Especially when you said it tasted like a funnel cake.
Looks like a fun day and I’m guessing dinner is some sort of crusted halibut maybe? Or some other fish.
You do know Obama ate at Corner Kitchen when he was in Asheville a few weeks ago, right?! I heard he loved it too
I didn’t know that! Cool!
Wow I would have killed for Matt’s dish!! Lox and cream cheese on a fried bagel doesn’t sound too bad, either!
Hmm… Flax seeds? Nuts?? And you’re making us wait until 2011! Meanie
Good luck with the counter-offer!
All of your restaurant-going in N. Carolina really makes me want to visit the state. My boyfriend went to Duke, and he speaks nothing but the highest praise about the Carolinas. I’m oh-so curious about these states!
i hate driving, too!! Fortunately, my hubby is awesome and always drives the 10 hour trips from TN to FL when we go home to visit!
Where did you buy your shirt? i love it!
LOFT
That’s a sweet deal you have with Goodbite. So many great opportunities have come your way. Glad you had a great weekend in Asheville; have a good night!
mmm, looks so good!

“I like food!”
Gosh, who woulda guessed that? LOL!
Pretty dress!!
Bun Bun is darling! What do the bears say about him?
They wanted to eat him.
I love your top! Looks like a great end to the weekend – you have me craving a bagel now!
Hopefully the counter offer goes through! Moving’s not the most fun thing in the world but since you guys have been looking to, it’d be a good thing! and that’s awesome news about the cookbook- it’ll be pretty cool when you see one of your recipes in a real book!!
Love that lunch AND dinner
And that bunny??? TOO CUTE
That bagel totally looks fried.
I hate driving too! Luckily my husband loves it, so I never have to worry about it!!
Loved reading of your weekend. The bunny is so cute! GL on the offer too. I know that will take much off your mind.
I love your garden resident! I have two of my own, Lil’ Bun and Cinnamoroll. Your dinner looks delish! Can’t wait for the recipe.
OMG I have been CRAVING Loxs and a bagel! You really made my taste buds go crazy! I think that will have to appear on my plate SOON
Kombucha is great! I’m totally obsessed and I buy it every time I visit Whole Foods. I love it because it settles my often-upset stomach. The blueberry ginger and raspberry are best.
I stopped drinking Kombucha years ago after I realized I always felt, ahem, high or slightly buzzed after drinking it, and it became a bit of a habit. I drank a few a couple of months ago and it still has the same effect. I rarely drink, though, so I guess maybe it feels a bit exaggerated to me. It’s gotten so popular lately, I’m convince that I can’t be the only one who experiences that!
Yum yum yum cream cheese and lox! I love smoked salmon. Seriously. It’s amazing. (I liked it the first time and last time I tried it, along with sashimi!) Corner Kitchen looks like a really nice restaurant!
Bunny is SOOOOOOOO CUTE! Seriously. Ugh. Why are you so awesome? You even have a bunny in your backyard! XD
Wei-Wei
Gaaah, that corn. I love burn flavor. Anything with black grill marks is a winner with me. I think I read somewhere that the blackness might have carcinogens in it, but that will not stop me.
Yaay…glad you liked the honey vanilla. I am super sensitive to sweetness too. I do not like chobani because of how sweet it is. The honey vanil is my fav! I’m not sure how/why you like that green kombucha either!!! Fishy! lol
Awww, Bun Bun is so cute cute
I love salmon, but just don’t care for smoked salmon that much. Only if it’s inside sushi.
Jenn
aww the bunny is so cute! things like that really make my day
I’m also excited about your mystery fish recipe
Bun Bun is so cute!
Ooh the bagel dish looks wonderful

You’re lucky you don’t have a cat and so can actually enjoy the presence of a rabbit without fear it’ll get eaten
Have a good Monday!
Wow, that’s awesome about the cookbook deal.
Those mustard greens look mighty tasty to this vegan.
Cheers,
Amanda
Cream cheese and salmon is such a great combo. I like to squeeze lemon over it as well.
I LOVE grilled corn in the summer!
That bunny is so cute and tiny! There are rabbits living in the bushes across the street and I almost don’t even care that they eat our strawberries.
Good luck with your counter offer!
I have a pet rabbit! I love bunnies; they make the best little pets. I’ve had my guy for 8 years now, and it still amazes me sometimes how smart he is and how he’s actually bonded to me. They’re definately not like normal rodents!
I love komucha too! Especially that brand’s cranberry flavor. That corn is perfectly charred – yum.
congrats on the cookbook! very exciting. that bunny is so cute. my dog would’ve gone crazy over it.
my husband is the opposite when it comes to driving – he is always monopolizing the wheel, even when we’re in traffic (which he hates and i always offer to take over)
Aww baby bunny
It is weird to start feeling like your home is not your own. I hope that you get answers that you are looking for.
Cute bunny!
We had a bear walk in front of our home about two years ago. My Dad and Husband saw him and I am still a bit bitter that I didn’t get to see him!
I use to drink Kombucha, there are a few companies locally that make it, but I always felt blah afterwards. I drank a few different brands including the one in your picture.

That fish looks like my Almond Meal and Pecan encrusted Tilapia recipe! I know mine is delicious so I’m sure you had a fantastic dinner!
Wow; that fish looks fabulous, Kath…can’t wait to see the recipe!
