Goodness we had a great time tonight!!

Beer me.

The festival was half beer, half music and set in the most gorgeous mountains you could imagine about 40 minutes from Charlottesville.

This is why we moved here.

IMG_0900 (640x427)

Also, local grass-fed beef on a festival menu!?

IMG_0901 (640x427) (2)

Also, hybrid dance jamming and hula hooping!

IMG_0914 (640x427) (2)

And coffee favors tossed from the bands to the audience!!

IMG_0915 (640x427) (2)

IMG_0916 (640x427) (2)

Our tickets came with 8 four-ounce beer taste samples. I think I had about 5 of them myself. Brews were good! My favorite was the Black IPA, a collaboration between four of Cville’s local breweries.

Our afternoon got better when we found Cara and Joe!

IMG_0920 (640x427) (2)

And made friends with their friends!

IMG_0921 (640x427) (2)

Afternoon nourishment came in the form of the most delicious kettle corn

IMG_0926 (640x427)

And beer, of course

IMG_0927 (640x427)

IMG_0930 (640x427) (2)

IMG_0923 (640x427)

And sandwiches!!

IMG_0931 (640x427) (2)

We had no idea if this festival would have funnel cakes or….. organic meat, but we decided to pack sandwiches just in case – and to save a few dollars!

IMG_0934 (640x427) (2)

Matt made us hummus and veggie sandwiches and they were the perfect fill for a 7PM dinner hour

IMG_0935 (427x640)

With beer, of course :)

IMG_0936 (640x427) (2)

And a taste of mountain sunset

IMG_0939 (640x427) (2)

IMG_0941 (640x427) (2)

And then Dumpstaphunk donned the stage

IMG_0944 (640x427) (2)

Visiting from New Orleans, Andrew [who lives in NOLA] was THRILLED to hear they were in the line-up for the festival. We jammed for a few hours and ended the night with ringing ears (bring earplugs next time!!)

What a fun Saturday night, such beautiful scenery! Great packed sammies to, so good to be prepared sometimes!

3 Meg August 21, 2010 at 10:28 pm

Kath, you have such beautiful skin! Just fyi. I’m glad you had such a fun day – I LOVE hoola hooping, haha! Although the last time I tried, I failed miserably, and you just can’t look cool dropping your hoop 😉 Everything looks fantastic, and kudos for bringing dinner – saving money and being healthy 😀

Enjoy your night!

4 Brain August 21, 2010 at 10:29 pm

5 Laura @ Backstage Pass to Health & Happiness August 21, 2010 at 10:31 pm

6 Connie S. August 21, 2010 at 10:39 pm

Hi Kath,

I’ve been enjoying your blog for about 6 months but this is my first time commenting. I really enjoyed the mountain and sunset pics in this post, and I always enjoy reading about your real food eats! C’ville sounds incredible!! It’s on my ‘places I must see one day’ list now, for sure! I’ve gotten so many good ideas and just good ol’ healthy eating motivation from your blog and I appreciate you very much!

7 Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter August 21, 2010 at 10:41 pm

Wow, what a really cool festival! It looks like a bunch of fun.

8 Allie (Live Laugh Eat) August 21, 2010 at 10:45 pm

9 Annie (Delicious Wellness) August 21, 2010 at 10:46 pm

You look so adorable in that shirt and especially those shades! You look like you totally belong at that festival. :)

10 Camille August 21, 2010 at 11:09 pm

So much beer!
I love the Glow Sticks!

11 Hannah August 21, 2010 at 11:09 pm

I keep hoping I’ll see one of my UVA friends in the background of your photos, but no such luck yet! I shall have to content myself with saying that I love your dress :)

12 Wei-Wei August 21, 2010 at 11:10 pm

LOL at that photo of you nomming down on that sandwich – DESTROY that Real Food 😀 (I still don’t understand what “Word.” means.)

13 Nicole - yuppie yogini August 21, 2010 at 11:10 pm

Looks like you had a good night…probably due to 20 oz of beer. 😉 Your bangs look cute pulled back!

14 Deva (Voracious Vorilee) August 21, 2010 at 11:15 pm

It looks like you had a blast at the festival. I think it’s awesome that they had local meat on the menu, too – that’s something I wouldn’t expect to see!

15 Chelsea @ Strawberry Sweat August 21, 2010 at 11:33 pm

Love that picture of you holding the empty beer cup, with you slightly out of focus! You are so photogenic :)

The festival sounds like so much fun. Really, you have me sold on moving to Charlottesville. Sign me up!

16 Sarah @ Sarah's Shaping Up August 21, 2010 at 11:45 pm

17 Allison August 22, 2010 at 12:09 am

Soooo I’ve been reading your blog for almost a year now, but have never commented!

I felt compelled to comment tonight because 1. You have reallyyy made me want to move to Cville, as it reminds me much of my college town of Bloomington, IN except with mountains! and 2. I must know if Andrew is single haha, he is adorable!!

27 Tina August 22, 2010 at 6:09 am

Is it weird that I want those cups for my apartment? Ha! All of your pics are awesome! I love festivals like that…especially ones that involve beer or wine. The mountains are so beautiful. II have to say, I’m kind of jealous of where you live. :-)

33 Lynn @ My Sweet Season August 22, 2010 at 7:34 am

I love your dress by the way, even though there’s not a full shot of it… and the last picture is great! You’re hilarious. 😉

43 C.Elizabeth August 22, 2010 at 8:46 am

I have been reading your blog for quite some time now and it really gave me more and more motivation to achieve my “vegan” goal! I really love it.
I just myself started my own blog because I can see how fun sharing with other vegans can be!

44 Sara August 22, 2010 at 11:35 am

This is not a vegan blog.

45 Red August 22, 2010 at 9:32 am

I grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains and I miss them soooooooo much! Love the pics!

46 Stacey@ August 22, 2010 at 9:39 am

That is such an awesome evening. The mountains look beautiful. I can’t believe the food, that’s fantastic.

47 Krista @ Can't Survive on Yarn Alone August 22, 2010 at 11:33 am

The hula hooping is actually Hoop Dancing! If you ever have a chance to learn and can hula hoop even a little it’s a lot of fun. I took a class and it was great.

The entire outing looks like an amazing day. I could see The Hubby and I doing that.

48 Wendy @ Seriously Sassy August 22, 2010 at 2:17 pm

FUN festival! Fantastic fotos! :-)
Come read my blog too, people – you’ll love it!

49 Dani August 22, 2010 at 3:36 pm

50 Kath August 22, 2010 at 3:45 pm

51 Dani August 23, 2010 at 2:03 pm

Must be an East Coast thing? No Loehmann’s here in the PNW. Thank you for sharing!

52 Kel August 22, 2010 at 6:59 pm
