Goodness we had a great time tonight!!
Beer me.
The festival was half beer, half music and set in the most gorgeous mountains you could imagine about 40 minutes from Charlottesville.
This is why we moved here.
Also, local grass-fed beef on a festival menu!?
Also, hybrid dance jamming and hula hooping!
And coffee favors tossed from the bands to the audience!!
Our tickets came with 8 four-ounce beer taste samples. I think I had about 5 of them myself. Brews were good! My favorite was the Black IPA, a collaboration between four of Cville’s local breweries.
Our afternoon got better when we found Cara and Joe!
And made friends with their friends!
Afternoon nourishment came in the form of the most delicious kettle corn
And beer, of course
Word.
And sandwiches!!
We had no idea if this festival would have funnel cakes or….. organic meat, but we decided to pack sandwiches just in case – and to save a few dollars!
Matt made us hummus and veggie sandwiches and they were the perfect fill for a 7PM dinner hour
With beer, of course
And a taste of mountain sunset
And then Dumpstaphunk donned the stage
Visiting from New Orleans, Andrew [who lives in NOLA] was THRILLED to hear they were in the line-up for the festival. We jammed for a few hours and ended the night with ringing ears (bring earplugs next time!!)

whee that was fun!
What a fun Saturday night, such beautiful scenery! Great packed sammies to, so good to be prepared sometimes!
Kath, you have such beautiful skin! Just fyi. I’m glad you had such a fun day – I LOVE hoola hooping, haha! Although the last time I tried, I failed miserably, and you just can’t look cool dropping your hoop
Everything looks fantastic, and kudos for bringing dinner – saving money and being healthy
Enjoy your night!
Whooo!! funky night
Haha – looks like you had a great time. Love the light stick photos at the end of the post.
Hi Kath,
I’ve been enjoying your blog for about 6 months but this is my first time commenting. I really enjoyed the mountain and sunset pics in this post, and I always enjoy reading about your real food eats! C’ville sounds incredible!! It’s on my ‘places I must see one day’ list now, for sure! I’ve gotten so many good ideas and just good ol’ healthy eating motivation from your blog and I appreciate you very much!
Wow, what a really cool festival! It looks like a bunch of fun.
CUTE!! I love the last photo of you
Your dress was totally appropriate.
You look so adorable in that shirt and especially those shades! You look like you totally belong at that festival.
So much beer!
I love the Glow Sticks!
I keep hoping I’ll see one of my UVA friends in the background of your photos, but no such luck yet! I shall have to content myself with saying that I love your dress
LOL at that photo of you nomming down on that sandwich – DESTROY that Real Food
(I still don’t understand what “Word.” means.)
Looks like you had a good night…probably due to 20 oz of beer.
Your bangs look cute pulled back!
It looks like you had a blast at the festival. I think it’s awesome that they had local meat on the menu, too – that’s something I wouldn’t expect to see!
Love that picture of you holding the empty beer cup, with you slightly out of focus! You are so photogenic
The festival sounds like so much fun. Really, you have me sold on moving to Charlottesville. Sign me up!
that looks like so much fun, definitely my kind of scene!
Soooo I’ve been reading your blog for almost a year now, but have never commented!
Heyyyyyyy:)
I felt compelled to comment tonight because 1. You have reallyyy made me want to move to Cville, as it reminds me much of my college town of Bloomington, IN except with mountains! and 2. I must know if Andrew is single haha, he is adorable!!
fun! i think i may need to start drinking again.
You are too cool – I want your sunglasses!!
Looks like an ace festival
looks like you had lots of fun!!
Lynn….please do not start drinking again on Kath’s behalf.
What’s with the pic of you smoking a glow stick?? Healthy living role model??
Good grief. I thought it was funny!
Wow, someone needs to loosen up
Seems like these days people take any chance they get to criticize! Lighten up!
Word.
Love it! It looks like you guys lived it up tonight! :0) I lived it up pie baking style, which hardly compares!
Looked like a fun evening! Then again, how can it not be when there were glow sticks involved!! Lol!
That’s impressive on the local grass fed beef. Most festivals wouldn’t bother. Looks like a great time!
What a fun day!! I love community gatherings like that. Especially when they sport local grass fed beef and hula hoops. Love it.

Beer, music and new friends? Life doesn’t get much better than that!
Is it weird that I want those cups for my apartment? Ha! All of your pics are awesome! I love festivals like that…especially ones that involve beer or wine. The mountains are so beautiful. II have to say, I’m kind of jealous of where you live.
Local grass-fed beef at an outdoor fest? Impressive! I’m super jealous of where you live!

Love the funny pictures, Kath! I’ve seen Dumpstafunk a few times in NOLA and they are great.
Looks like you all had a great time! The pictures of the mountains are breath-taking
I LOVE your dress, where is it from?
I have been reading your blog for quite some time now and it really gave me more and more motivation to achieve my “vegan” goal! I really love it.
I just myself started my own blog because I can see how fun sharing with other vegans can be!
This is not a vegan blog.
I grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains and I miss them soooooooo much! Love the pics!
That is such an awesome evening. The mountains look beautiful. I can’t believe the food, that’s fantastic.
The hula hooping is actually Hoop Dancing! If you ever have a chance to learn and can hula hoop even a little it’s a lot of fun. I took a class and it was great.
The entire outing looks like an amazing day. I could see The Hubby and I doing that.
FUN festival! Fantastic fotos!
Come read my blog too, people – you’ll love it!
I think you are killin all of us with your dress or shirt (?) Do tell..
I think I got it at Loehmann’s 2 years ago?
Must be an East Coast thing? No Loehmann’s here in the PNW. Thank you for sharing!
You look adorable! The top, the earrings, the sunglasses…so damn cute!
That looks so fun! I love your outfit and the scenery is beautiful!
These pictures make me miss summer!
