Brew Funk

IMG_0890 (640x427) (2)

IMG_0910 (427x640)

Goodness we had a great time tonight!!

Beer me.

IMG_0892 (640x427) (2)

IMG_0896 (427x640)

IMG_0897 (640x427) (2)

IMG_0899 (640x427) (2)

The festival was half beer, half music and set in the most gorgeous mountains you could imagine about 40 minutes from Charlottesville.

This is why we moved here.

IMG_0900 (640x427)

Also, local grass-fed beef on a festival menu!?

IMG_0901 (640x427) (2)

Also, hybrid dance jamming and hula hooping!

IMG_0914 (640x427) (2)

And coffee favors tossed from the bands to the audience!!

IMG_0915 (640x427) (2)

IMG_0916 (640x427) (2)

Our tickets came with 8 four-ounce beer taste samples. I think I had about 5 of them myself. Brews were good! My favorite was the Black IPA, a collaboration between four of Cville’s local breweries.

IMG_0918 (640x427) (2)

IMG_0912 (640x427)

IMG_0917 (427x640)

IMG_0919 (640x427) (2)

Our afternoon got better when we found Cara and Joe!

IMG_0920 (640x427) (2)

And made friends with their friends!

IMG_0921 (640x427) (2)

Afternoon nourishment came in the form of the most delicious kettle corn

IMG_0926 (640x427)

And beer, of course

IMG_0927 (640x427)

IMG_0930 (640x427) (2)

Word.

IMG_0923 (640x427)

And sandwiches!!

IMG_0931 (640x427) (2)

We had no idea if this festival would have funnel cakes or….. organic meat, but we decided to pack sandwiches just in case – and to save a few dollars!

IMG_0934 (640x427) (2)

Matt made us hummus and veggie sandwiches and they were the perfect fill for a 7PM dinner hour

IMG_0935 (427x640)

With beer, of course 🙂

IMG_0936 (640x427) (2)

And a taste of mountain sunset

IMG_0939 (640x427) (2)

IMG_0941 (640x427) (2)

And then Dumpstaphunk donned the stage

IMG_0944 (640x427) (2)

Visiting from New Orleans, Andrew [who lives in NOLA] was THRILLED to hear they were in the line-up for the festival. We jammed for a few hours and ended the night with ringing ears (bring earplugs next time!!)

Kath, you have such beautiful skin! Just fyi. I’m glad you had such a fun day – I LOVE hoola hooping, haha! Although the last time I tried, I failed miserably, and you just can’t look cool dropping your hoop 😉 Everything looks fantastic, and kudos for bringing dinner – saving money and being healthy 😀

    Enjoy your night!

    Hi Kath,

I’ve been enjoying your blog for about 6 months but this is my first time commenting. I really enjoyed the mountain and sunset pics in this post, and I always enjoy reading about your real food eats! C’ville sounds incredible!! It’s on my ‘places I must see one day’ list now, for sure! I’ve gotten so many good ideas and just good ol’ healthy eating motivation from your blog and I appreciate you very much!

The hula hooping is actually Hoop Dancing! If you ever have a chance to learn and can hula hoop even a little it’s a lot of fun. I took a class and it was great.
