Win Some KERF

I decided I’d better order some KERF gear to sport my logo –

IMG_1236 (768x1024)

The best thing about this bowl? The surface area!! It’s very wide and not that deep so there was TONS of room for toppings to spread about the amber waves of grain –

IMG_1234 (1024x768)

The Mix:

  • 1/3 cup oats, milk, water, 1 tbsp raisins, pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin, stirred in at end
  • 1 tbsp ground flax
  • 1 tbspish sliced almonds
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin butter (new kind, see below)
  • Sprinkle coconut butter
  • Spoonful Barney Butter

IMG_1232 (768x1024)

My parents gave me this local pumpkin butter for Christmas. It’s sweetened with concentrated prune juice instead of sugar. It was good, but took me a while to get over the fact that it tastes more like a pruney pumpkin than a cinnamon spice pumpkin 🙂

IMG_1229 (1024x768)

3/4 a cup of coffee (French press shared with the husband)

Workout

The husband chose his pillow over his bike this morning so I had to drive to the gym. I had a great workout though! Lots of energy. I did 40 minutes climbing the Stepmill (some days 30 minutes is painful but today 40 was effortless – strange!) and ended with 10 minutes on the Stat bike. Instead of doing weight lifting, which I was not in the mood for, I came home to do 20 minutes of Power Yoga #2! Natalie is not my favorite instructor (I hate to admit it when I don’t care for an instructor’s style!) but I liked the moves in this class a lot. I really, really liked ending my workout with yoga. It made me feel much calmer as I got in the shower, although I was more rushed due to the time crunch of an extra 20 minutes.

Please don’t attack me for stating this fact: I tried on 3 pairs of pants this morning and they were all tight.

To class I go…

Your video is adorable… I didn’t know you had a bit of a southern accent!

I’m crossing my fingers that I’m the lucky winner of the tote bag… you can never have too many bags and this way I can support KERF, too 😀

How recently did you do laundry? Occasionally I’m thrown into a panic when my pants are snug, and then I realize they came out of the dryer yesterday.

    Also, sweet tote.

Getting back on track after the holidays is always hard for me. Beyond the normal holiday goodies i have seven family birthdays between the end of december and feb 1st (including my own) all those little extra celebratory bites really add up! i tend to get really motivated right around this time. good luck!

    Ditto what Kirsten said!

By the by, I tried your tofu tutorial Saturday, and it was great! It is by far the best that I have tried with regard to texture, and I loved the sauce!

I’ll be making more this week to bring to work for lunch.

Oh…a few weeks ago I sent you an email about freezing the pumpkin butter- it was fine.

    Great tote!

blerg about the pants! hopefully it’s just a water retention thing. either way, it’s a new month and a new start to get back on track to healthier eating more of the time. now that the holidays are mostly over for a while, it should be easier to avoid regular indulgences.

i am now hooked on yoga too! i’ve still only done the gentle hatha II and the lunar flow, both of which i really enjoyed. i think this week i’ll try the yoga for runners (i’m sad there’s no free yoga for cyclists to try out.) happy monday! (is there a monday dance?)

Don’t worry too much about the pants! Sometimes its a just water thing and if not, watching your intake for a few weeks should help. I recently realized that I’d been carried away with the snacks recently (a handful of almonds here, latte there) and now that I’ve been more mindful the couple of extra pounds is melting away.

… well i think that it is better to gauge your weight by pants fit more than by the scale… it could just be bloating; in either case, the worst thing you can do is stress about it… just move more and eat a little lighter! still, don’t worry, you’re beautiful! the winter is tough for everyone :/

I tried the stovetop banana oatmeal the first time this weekend and it was great! I also tried the kale chips last week and loved them too. I have been making the veggie lasagna for a few months now since that is so easy and makes a couple of meals for me since my husband won’t eat it! The oatmeal snack bars are yummy too.

Pants being a wee bit tight at the end of January isn’t a big disaster — I’m sure you know that. The past couple of months have involved not only the holidays for you, but a vacation and lots of fun events with friends involving food and wine. All things considered, I think you’re maintaining a really good balance! Some people gain a lot of weight over the winter! I cast my ballot in the alcohol/dehydration/water retention camp.

Exercise-wise, keep doing the yoga and plenty of cardio!
