Who’s The Boss

It ain’t me!

I went to cycle this morning, but the class was FULL when I arrived. Bummer. I decided to take advantage of the gorgeous day by taking my workout back outside – and was craving a run! I walked back home (30 minutes total walking) to use the bathroom and change gear. I sat down in a chair and fell asleep!! That never happens! Someone else is calling the shots.

30 minutes later, I woke up and decided the baby did not feel like running, so we went on a walk instead. A really nice 45 minutes of sunshine. I’ll just have to run another day…

IMG_7178Blog

After a shower and a conference call, I made a wonderful lunch! I can feel my love for plants creeping back. I still don’t want savory vegetables or big salads, but avocado and blended spinach were just what I wanted. It feels so good to be eating well again.

Lunch-10Blog

Best “salad” I’ve had to date! 2 big handfuls baby spinach, 3/4 cup milk, 1/2 packet of Tera’s Whey and 1/2 a frozen banana.

IMG_7176Blog

Topped with honey bunches and drizzled coconut butter. Outstanding!

IMG_7173Blog

On the side – High Five with mashed avocado (can’t get enough of ‘em!) and manchego cheese.

IMG_7175Blog

Two delicious thumbs up!

I love avocados! I have some sitting on my counter waiting for them to ripen. It’s torture. I’m hoping I get to eat them very soon. 🙂

Put them in a paper bag with a apple or banana and they will ripen in about 1 day. Those specific fruits release chemical compounds that ripen others. Hope you enjoy them sooner!

Whole Foods includes it in their 15% off supplement Tuesdays. I just stocked up for much less than when I order from Amazon. I like the Dark Chocolate and Bourbon Vanilla.

I also started mixing it with almond milk because of the shelf stability. Can you talk a little bit about the difference between dairy and non-dairy options?

Well other than where they come from 🙂

Cow’s milk and soy milk are higher in protein. Almond and rice milk are pretty low. Most milks of any kind are fortified with vitamin D and calcium, and you probably want to choose a milk that has both. Milk protein is a little more bioavailable than soy, but soy is still a good option. I drink organic cow’s milk. Does that help?

          No, we don’t make it.

I’m not against protein powders, but I don’t think they are necessary in normal circumstances. Pregnancy is not normal and protein needs are increased, so I’m fine with adding a boost to smoothies when I’m low on yogurt/cottage cheese mix-ins from a high quality brand.

AH kath that lunch looks absolutely perfect! i really just want to spend a day {HA more like my LIFE!} eating kerf meals.

i just also wanted to say how im really admiring that you aren’t “beating yourself up” for not going for a run when you were planning on it, and just listening to your body instead. in my normal everyday life, sometimes i MAKE myself do things like run, or eat certain things that i “should” be eating when i know my body doesn’t want that type of exercise OR that type of food. im working on just listening to my body’s cues more often and reading about your “go with the flow” attitude helps a lot 🙂
