What’s On The Inside That Counts

He’s on the inside, I’m outside. But we spent the morning together!

We played ball games

Foodblog-4756

We took a hot shower

Foodblog-4739

We listened to TLC’s Waterfalls

Foodblog-4737

We put on delicious baby lotions

Foodblog-4738

We played with Sophie

Foodblog-4742

And we read a book!

Foodblog-4744

We worked up quite an appetite!

Foodblog-4750

I used two of the hard-boiled eggs I made last night to make Deviled Eggs for One. I have GOT to start keeping hard-boiled eggs on hand all the time – so convenient!

Foodblog-4752

Some of my eggs broke when I took the yolks out, but they were just as tasty. Served over a salad dressed in olive oil, honey and salt and featuring garden tomato!

Foodblog-4755

Cheese and crackers on the side

Foodblog-4751

I am loving this raspberry leaf iced tea so much that I don’t care if it’s for my uterus or not – it’s great to have an iced tea that’s decaf and yet has a flavor like black tea.

Foodblog-4748

Foodblog-4746

Have a great afternoon!

Do you feel like a ticking time bomb? I remember the last few weeks of my pregnancy, I was highly aware of any change in my body and kept looking for the signs of labor. My work sent me home about two weeks before my due date because they were afraid I was too far from the hospital. I tried to relax and enjoy the time off but I would wake up every day and think. “Maybe today is the day!”
I loved reading to my babies before they were born. Both of them recognized my voice right away because they had been hearing me read and talk to them for months!

Go to one of those foot reflexology places ASAP! They wanted to induce my second one who was being slow about coming- I read somewhere that reflexology can sometimes induce labor, so I went on my lunch break one day. Exactly 12 hours later, I had my first contraction and 3 hours after that my little guy was born! No time for an epidural—but I will you what- my first labor took 16 hours, water broke, had an epidural etc- second labor was 3 hours start to finish and although much more painful overall, I felt amazing afterwards! The natural endorphins that your body produces being drug free are out of this world!! 🙂
    Good luck to you!

I was browsing through your favorite posts, in general exploring your site because you do such a good job with it! Anyway, I came across the post for “conception of baby KERF,” it brought a tear to my eye thinking of your journey over the last 9 months. Congratulations and best of wishes. Tomorrow is my youngest daughters 11th birthday, so that is probably where a little of my nostalgic thought’s come into play! Best of luck with delivery, enjoy every moment with your little boy. I have been very impressed with your frame of mind during your pregnancy and how you have cherished the time. Very inspiring for other mothers to be.

I love red raspberry leaf. It’s great to keep drinking postpartum for recovery, too. I wonder if you’ve increased your intake of evening primrose? I had been taking it orally, but after 2 nights of taking it the other way in addition, I went into labor. I had already had some progression for a few weeks, so who knows if that just helped tip the scales or not, but it’s worth trying. It’s great you’re soaking up these last few days – I remember thinking about how it was the last time I would do certain things alone for a long time. Definitely try to sneak in some more naps!

I LOVE dressed eggs and yours look delish! Help me understand the lack of acid in your salad dressing, though. Is this a dietary restriction? I can’t imagine just honey and oil…I have to use vinegar or citrus and a dash of mustard to emulsify my dressings. I usually skip sweeteners in my vinaigrette since there are so many vinegars with “sweet” notes like champagne, good balsamic or sherry vinegar.

I just find vinegar to over power salads. Not that I don’t like a good balsamic dressing, but at home I like my salads on the simple side.

Do you use any kind of measurement for your dressing (like 1 part EVOO and 2 parts honey) or do you just throw them both in with a dash here and a dash there? Been wanting to try that combo on my salads but not sure where to start since I don’t want my salad to be too sweet.

After you’ve hardboiled the eggs and drain out the hot water, smash the eggs around in the pan so that all the shells are cracked, then immerse them in the cold 🙂 they literally peel with ONE peel after this, rather than in little bits! So nice. (Can you tell I love hard-boiled eggs?)
