Today’s Special

Howdy!

Mary Beth + Allie have been today’s special slicers of the day!

IMG_1316 (640x427)

Coffee of the day was consumed around 11AM so it was 90% decaf and 10% caf. Bummer. Don’t want to interrupt my sleep though!

IMG_1314 (640x427)

Just broke for lunch around 12:30 after having a conversation with a customer about his 2001 French Laundry dinner – it made me hungry!

IMG_1324 (640x427)

IMG_1321 (640x427)

Last night I packed up the remaining Smoky Black Bean salad + our green salad in tupperwares for Matt and me for lunch. Leftovers have been great to eat up!

IMG_1322 (640x427)

And slices-O-bread are perfect complements to salads! Today’s special: Apple Crunch! Like a whole wheat apple coffee cake blend : )

IMG_1319 (640x427)

IMG_1317 (640x427)

Today’s special link of the day: KERF eats The Atlanta Cheeseburger

image

Today’s special music: Frankie Valley & The Four Seasons! Love them!

Today’s special dessert nibble: a brownie edge. A small one!

I must have missed the post where you originally talked about the smoky black bean salad. Looks good — I’ll have to go back and find it. Simple, flavorful bean dishes, served cold or at room temp are great for summer!

Been noticing what look like plastic forks in a lot of your lunch photos. Can you keep a real fork on hand in your office? Another nice on-the-go option are the bamboo utensil sets (To-Go Wear makes one that I use).

Bah, we’re going to Napa in 2 weeks and tried to get reservations at the French ‘laundry but were put on the wait list. Same thing happened when we went in 2006. We do have reservations at Ad Hoc though, so that’s exciting. Oh, and we plan to try out The Girl and The Fig this time around ; )

If you can be flexible, it’s best to get reservations and then make the rest of your travel plans if you want to eat at The French Laundry. Ad Hoc is yummy and has delicious fried chicken. The Girl & The Fig has always been my go-to restaurant in Sonoma, but I recently had an awesome dinner at Cafe La Haye in Sonoma. I highly recommend it for dinner.

My dad is working in Charlotte for a week so me and my mom are going with him since I’m home for summer from college. It should be sometime in July. I’m excited because I live in California so going to Charlotte makes me closer to Charlottesville than I normally would be. Most of the time I’ll be in Charlotte but for one day, we’ll be going on an adventure down to Charlottesiville to visit your Great Harvest!
