Temptation Island

You know what the best/worst part of the bakery is?

The Savannah bar crumbles.

And the Cosmic brownie edges. Just ask Allie!

IMG_1325Blog

SO HARD not to nibble too much!!

Today I had a few nibbles, but then I was tempted by a forbidden fruit…a juicy nectarine that I had for a snack along with a small hunk of Honey Whole Wheat. Honestly, it tasted better than the brownies! I can’t get enough summer fruit at the moment.

IMG_1327Blog-2

We wrapped up sales and did our thing – in record time!!! The crew cleaned in record time and I counted lots of 100s, 50s, 20s, 10s, 5s, 1s, quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies x 2 drawers in record time. And our drawers were spot on too!

IMG_1328Blog

I was outta there by 6:40!

Matt followed me in his car a few minutes later and passed me on the road

IMG_1329Blog

He often beats me home and when he hears me enter the garage he steps onto the porch, brew in hand.

His next move is always the same – an extended arm. Seeing as though it’s June and I’m almost always thirsty and hungry, I accept. Best beer sips ever!

IMG_1331Blog-2

We made dinner in record time too thanks to a bunch of leftovers and an abundant garden of eatin’

IMG_1344Blog

I took some of our Wild Alaskan King salmon from Saturday and heated it in the oven with a new OpenSky find –

IMG_1333Blog

Artichoke Parmesan Tapenade!

IMG_1063-2Blog

This was the best salmon I have ever cooked at home. I think because it’s King and King is my very favorite! The tapenade was AWESOME and gave it restaurant flavor in just 10 minutes.

IMG_1335Blog-2

Kale chips rounded out the menu

IMG_1336Blog

From our GARDEN!! We didn’t even have to trim the leaves since they were baby-chip size already

IMG_1342Blog

Lastly, a little Garlic Cheddar knot filled the carb category. Insta dinner.

IMG_1334Blog

IMG_1332Blog

Matt’s already in bed and I’m hoping to get some great reading in tonight. I’ve had to skip it the past two for staying up too late!

Cross your fingers for no rain tomorrow – I am determined to bike!

I am so jealous of your summer fruit– it still feels like a blustery spring up here (and normally we get 70-80 degrees by this time of year. Global warming, I’m telling you– it’s messing with the weather!). Although we are moving to the east coast (Michigan) next weekend (from Washington state), so maybe there will be some better produce there!

I made crispy kale a few weeks ago, and it did not turn out right, because I drizzled extra virgin olive oil over it, and it made it flimsy and not crisp. So, the other day I watched your video on how to make kale chips, and when I made them, they turned out crispy and yummy! Our 3 year-old daughter will even eat them, so I am very thrilled about that. Thanks for making a how-to video on how to make them!

I noticed you mentioned the “carb” for dinner. Do you aim to eat a protein, carb, and veggie at every meal? We changed to eating healthier about a month ago and my husband said that we need to eat a balanced meal which includes the protein, carb, and veggie. Is he right? Hopefully, not…because I hate admitting that. (haha)
