Things That Go Beep In The Night

IMG_3372Blog

Around 3am last night Matt and I heard a crash…. followed by our alarm going off.

My heart jumped out of my chest!!! Matt actually looked scared as he went to investigate.

MY first thought wasn’t a robbery, but a beer explosion in the brewery. [It happens a lot]

HIS first thought was a picture frame falling off the wall.

Imagine that!

We crept down, rather terrified of what we might find, but we found nothing.

Back upstairs, we realized one of our door sensors had fallen off after being reattached to the new door. WHEW!

Turns out Matt was already awake because he decided at the last minute to bake more bread today and went in for sponge and dough at 3:30!!

Sure was scary! I’m going to fix it today with new sticky because we have one of our employees house sitting for us next week and we want the alarm to be working!

IMG_3382Blog

Feeling a little tired, but luckily I was able to sleep until 6:30. I’m on my way to the bakery again.

But not without a big bowl of fuel first! I made whipped banana oatmeal and stirred in a whole egg near the end of cooking. This doesn’t really change the flavor at all – but it does change the texture. The oatmeal is more custardy and soft and fluffy.

Topped with Cville Cluster, Sunbutter and jam!

That would scare me too! The other night I heard a knock in the middle of the night, but only once. I wasn’t sure if it was my roommate at my bedroom door, a knock on my window (someone would have to climb a tree for that), or in my dream. It didn’t continue so I dozed back off to sleep and all was good.

    Have a fantastic Christmas Eve!

I would say that noise was probably Santa… you should check under your tree for some surprise presents that came early 😉 Happy Christmas eve!

I agree with Kinley. It was probably Santa doing a test run. Have a great day at the bakery and Happy Christmas Eve!

I think I would’ve wee’d myself. That happened to us one night and come to find out it was the entire contents of the guest room closet ripping down out of the wall. (Stupid builder grade everything!) So I know that panic!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

Noises in the middle of the night are the worst! Our smoke detector decided to start beeping the other night b/c of a low battery and unfortunately since it’s hard wired into our house, even when you take the battery out the beeping doesn’t stop! So, I was up from 3-5:30am waiting for the gas station down the road to open so I could buy a 9V battery to shut it up. Ugh.
Merry Christmas Eve! Happy baking 🙂

We’ve had that happen to us in the middle of the night, too. The scariest part is wondering if someone broke into the house and having to go investigate.

I’m glad you figured out the problem and were able to fall back to sleep, too. Amazing!

Hope your day flies by at the bakery so you can relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend. 🙂

That is so scary! I am very glad it wasn’t a burglar–that would have been an unwelcome holiday surprise. Merry Christmas to you and Matt! I hope it’s less eventful than today was!
