Foot Massage

Of course I typed “food massage” the first time around 🙂

IMG_3364Blog

MAN do my feet hurt! Yesterday I wore tennis shoes to work (which I generally find more comfortable than my Dankos on the slippery, flour-coated bakery floor) but since my feet hurt yesterday, I switched to my Danskos – and my feet (and legs) are still killing me! No way I could go for a run right now!

After my 12-hour shift, I walked home because I wanted to get a head start on dinner while Matt closed down the store. We had a fantastic day!!

IMG_3352Blog

Dinner didn’t need too much prep though. We planned another simple 10-minute affair knowing tonight would be a late one.

I’ve said it before, but my biggest way to get healthy meals on the table – even on busy days – is to have ingredients in your fridge. The only time we swing towards take-out is if the fridge is already empty. Otherwise take-out takes more effort (i.e. leaving the house) than a quick meal! But so long as I have some veggies (and really frozen/canned will do in a pinch), I can make something nutritious.

IMG_3355Blog

Tonight’s dinner was a sardine salad  with pita and carrot chips along with a stir-fry of mushrooms, broccoli and leftover sweet potatoes. I smothered my veggies in some Dr. Pete’s Praline Mustard Glaze and Matt smothered his in sriracha.

IMG_3356Blog

The sardine salad was just leftover maple-smoked sardines mixed with mayo, mustard, cajun spices and sriracha. Just like tuna salad – but even healthier!

On the side we had a home-brewed hard cider a friend brought over. Interesting flavors in this bottle, but we liked it!

Nightly clementine for dessert! Such an excellent palate cleanser!

Longest day of the week is done and done!

I am dying to try that mustard glaze. Your dinner looks like a perfect end to a busy day. Have a wonderful holiday.

By the way, what is the human box for? Just curious.

my feet always get so sore from standing and walking so much too. now you can relax, kick your feet up, and convince Matt to give you that foot massage. 😉

i totally agree about your thoughts on getting healthy meals on the table. i think it forces me to be a little more creative too when i don’t have a lot of time and have to use what we already have!

Glad your longest day of the week is…done!

That Dr. Pete’s Praline Mustard Glaze…every time you mention it, I crave it. I want that stuff!

And Danskos…I have huge feet and my feet and their largest size are just a wee bit too tight to invest the cashola for a pair based on walking around the shoe store with them on but I’ve heard rave reviews about them.

    Sorry your dogs are hurtin’

My four year old had my husband massaging her feet on the beach today as she sat in her chaise lounge. She’s got him wrapped around her pinky!

I remember the days when my feet and legs hurt from standing on hard flooring at work, too. We had to wear dress shoes, and there were times when my feet felt like they were going to fall off, 🙂 especially during Christmas when the store was most busiest.

You make the sardine thing sound almost appetizing but after a very “Fishy” experience with a whole one on a baguette last month in a restaurant I’m just not sure I can do it!

Try wearing compression socks! Makes a HUGE difference. After a 12 hour shift at the hospital, my feet are only a little bit tired.

        Yes, they’re so comfortable!

I was having a hard time at my holiday retail job, being on my feet all day. I started wearing my compression socks, and while my feet still hurt sometimes (less so with sneakers than anything else), my calves didn’t hurt at all, which made my nighttime Charlie horses go away. Thank goodness for these!

Have a very happy Christmas, Kath.

I much prefer to cook up a quick homemade meal instead of resorting to take out too. In the very worst case, I at least always have some staples to make pasta! My one exception to the rule is sushi – I am powerless before sushi take out. 😉

I would highly recommend you wear a pair of running compression socks. I know some nurses wear them. My sister did too while pregnant and on her feet all day teaching. I’ve done so while working parties for hours on end. They are like magic!

I’m surprised you don’t have mats. I worked in restaurants for years and I can’t imagine one that didn’t have those black, rubberish floor mats. Are you actually standing on tile for 12 hour days?
