The 12 Toppings Of Oatmeal

GASP!!!! It’s been months since I’ve seen a roach in here – why today!?!? I think he’s dead but I am not going anywhere near him to find out. (This photo was obviously taken on zoom

 this !
) The thought of sucking him into the vacuum hose with a nice crunch sends chills down my spine, so I’ll just leave him here until the husband comes home. Fortunately I am headed out now!

DSC06739

I gave myself 30 minutes extra sleep last night, and then stayed in bed listening to (depressing) NPR for an extra 30 or so. Since I don’t have to be uptown until 10 or so, I knew I had the time. I debated saving my workout for the afternoon, going running outside, taking the day off, but when I visualized all of these things, I knew getting up and going would leave me the most satisfied to start the day. So I went. I actually had a fantastic workout! 45 minutes on the ET with Women’s Health followed by a 10 minute cool down on the stat bike and 5 minutes of abs.

Then I came home and made this huge bowl of oatmeal mess –

DSC06744

Ready?

  • 1/3 cup oats, milk, water, salt (skipped the banana today – gasp! – because they are still underripe and the pumpkin would serve as my thickening binder)
  • 1/4 cup wheatberries
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin (stirred in near end)
  • 1/4 cup cottage cheese (stirred in at end)
  • Cinnamon
  • Pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Tbsp ground flax
  • Tbsp pumpkin butter, swirled in
  • Spoonful EF PB
  • A sprinkle of Kashi Good Friends CinnaRaisin Crunch
  • And a partridge in a pear tree

DSC06742

Plus Yerba Mate Dark Roast tea. I like this stuff, but honestly, it’s like weak coffee. But I didn’t feel like making coffee. I added a drizzle of Agave and some milk to it.

I am headed to the car place with my flashcards, then to take my exam at 11, and hopefully home in time for lunch with the hub. I’m not ready for this exam, but some quick math told me that I can get a -27 on it and still pass the class. Since I’m taking it at the community college just to check off my R.D. requirements, I’m not too worried about how I do in it. Pressure’s off! The rest of the day I’ll be studying Organic (on Friday) and Foodservice (which is tomorrow) and joining my friend Michelle to celebrate her birthday for dinner tonight!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m the same way about bugs. I don’t like using the vacuum; I have to flush them down the toilet to know they’re gone forever.

AH! Nasty roach! I would have been the same way….however I would have HAD to get it out of the house somehow before I left, otherwise I worry about it crawling around in my bed when I’m gone and then I wouldn’t be able to find it when I get home.

YUM, that oatmeal looks DIVINE! So many fun toppings and mix-ins 🙂

Ugh, that little pest probably snuck in with the new oven when they had the door open. We had a gigantic palmetto bug flying around in here two nights ago and were both chasing it with brooms! 😮

The oats look yummy! Good luck on your exam!

And ugh, my husband found a cockroach in our apartment about a month ago. But luckily he’s awesome and he hollered to me from the kitchen, “Don’t come in here right now! Give me a second to get this roach, you won’t want to see it”. haha, he knows me well. 🙂

We dont have roaches like that up here (at least that is what I am telling my self). I don’t mind bugs….as long as they aren’t big enough to make a crunching noise when killed by a vacuum, shoe, newspaper etc.

Which is kind of ironic, because in elementary school, one of my fave games to play was called “cockroach”, where the premise was to pretend to be roaches…… oh those good old days, 🙂 !

    Report: Raoch,
THE ROACH IS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!! He moved his head and looked me this morning and when I just walked in the door he was moving his legs….rapidly…but is still on his back. The husband is expected home any minute but I am keeping my eye on him and the roach killer spray nearby. I am not brave enough to get close enough to 1) Put anything over him and 2) Spray him.

    Report: Exam,
    Went well!

    Oh She Glows,
Sounds great! I have so many LB’s in the house I don’t need to make any, but sometime in the future I will for sure.

    Melissa (the other one),
Had it been alive, I would have taken other action. Little did I know it WAS!!!

    Ange C.,
Yes, stir in at end (as the post said) and I also used milk (as the post said!)

No Xmas tree yet…we are debating even getting one (!!). But I bet after my exams we probably will.

    Betsy in Pittsburgh,
I think I’ve said before too that the husband is allergic to cats so we can’t use them as pesticides 🙁

    Sarh ,
I didn’t calculate the nutritional information, but if you use the recipe and Calorie King to get the total you can divide by 5 to get each muffin. I’d guess each was about 100-150.

LOL! I’ve totally done that before. I remember taking a pict in case he ran away when I was at work. I knew my hubby wouldn’t’ believe how big it was. He took care of it for me when he got home. I tried to kill a black widow with Windex and she survived. They use to not “bug” me so much, but as of late I save them for the hubby.

I didn’t know they had “Pumpkin Pie Spice.” I was wondering what I could ad to my pumpkin oatmeal to make it more pie-ish. Thanks
