Taking Back The Twenties

(Not to be confused with Taking Back My Twenties!)

Foodblog (11 of 13)

We had such a fun Friday night with flapper Lauren seen above mid-dance move! She threw a 1920s themed party complete with all the glitz, sparkle and feathers you could imagine.

Foodblog (5 of 8)

I loved all the wine bottles spray painted gold (and did my part in contributing them by drinking lots of wine last month : ) )

Foodblog (2 of 13)

Lauren served a veggie tray with dips (green goddess dip on the way!)

Foodblog (4 of 13)

Stuffed mushrooms and meatballs

Plus a cheese plate and fruit coconut fondue!

Peach Punch!

We girls had a great time!!

Saturday morning I had some fruit and then met friends at the Boar’s Head for brunch! Sadly I had the time wrong – a really weird miscommunication – and arrived just as they were cleaning up the brunch buffet. Luckily I was able to get a waffle and some eggs and we lingered over coffee for a long time.

Late afternoon I stopped at the Juice Laundry for a Coco Verde!

Mazey loves his new coat KK!!

Saturday night we made spaghetti. Gosh this was so easy – I should make it more! Noodles, Whole Foods Four Cheese sauce with wilted kale and parmesan cheese on top.

Foodblog (12 of 13)

Saturday night I caught up on my Downton Abbey (well, still have 2 episodes before the finale so please no spoilers!!) and was in bed at 9:30. Catching up from Friday night’s fun!

Sunday morning breakfast included IRISH SODA BREAD!!!! My favorite bread we make at Great Harvest all year. Plus egg, grapefruit and coffee with froth.

Foodblog (13 of 13)

We had a chill day and made a big book train –

Foodblog (3 of 6)

I went to World Market and regret not buying these gorgeous wine glasses

Foodblog (1 of 6)

I made hummus and used it as my lunch base –

Foodblog (2 of 6)

Then I headed out to Crozet for our first outdoor soccer game of the season!! We tied 1:1 and played a hard game.

Foodblog (5 of 6)

Afterwards we had a team beer (well, 4 of us did!) at Pro Re Nata brewery in Crozet. It was my first visit, and I loved the atmosphere!!

Foodblog (6 of 6)

Dinner was a mix of leftovers in the fridge eaten at 9pm – rainbow rolls for a future post and some lasagna!

xoxo

I have no idea where I should comment about this, but I live in Philly and we just got No Bull Burgers in stock at my local Whole Foods! I’m so excited! I’ve been wanting to try them ever since you talked about them on this blog. Hooray!

I’m always curious, when you go out to brunch with friends or such , where is Mazen?

I thought that coat would fit Maze next winter. It’s a 5T.

The party looks fun! This is way off topic, but I recently started “tidying” with the KonMari method. I remember you read the “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” awhile back and I wondered how you put that into practice at home–it’s so inspiring!

I am such a minimalist already that I didn’t really have to do much. My drawers are no longer folded neatly like she suggested, but that doesn’t bother me too much when I’m doing laundry : ) But I do routinely go through my closet and donate older things, and I empty my purse and car out when I come home – all things I already did! So it wasn’t as life-changing for me, but I still loved the book and many of her recommendations. I bought her second book on my Kindle but haven’t started it yet!

Those wine glasses are too cute. I think I’m going to have to swing by and see if ours has them too!
