Street Fair

Downtown was HOPPIN’ today!! It felt like a street fair with smells of hot dogs and deep fryers wafting through the 80* breeze. If I had had any money on my body, I might have bought one of those hot dogs! But alas, I was on my way to Body Pump Express instead.

Naked shoulders on my way home!!! It’s that warm : )

2012-03-13 13.04.02Blog

For lunch I made a plate of goodies –

IMG_7430Blog

A slice of Irish Soda Bread baked this morning that I picked up from the bakery – with a little butter melted on top.

IMG_7429Blog

Plus grapes and a string cheese! I bought these to add an easy 7g of protein to my days.

AND ———- WHAT THE!? Broccoli!!! I had a craving for the Lemon Tahini salad dressing at Lu-e-g’s used to serve in Hillsborough when I was little. The salad came with sunflower seeds and was amazing. I had some Whole Foods lemon hummus in my fridge and thinned it out with lemon juice to make a dressing. I was going to put it on some kale, but then I found this broccoli that Karen’s friend Tracy gave us from her CSA. I microwaved it for a few seconds and doused it in the dressing. It tasted delicious!

Must be that St. Patty’s is approaching that the green made its way into my lunch : )

Just came back from a quick walk with Faith. I have to race to shower and am double booked tonight with a meet n greet and my book club!

Hap-py Spring!

Sounds like you’re having a very productive day! I think the street fair would have won me over. I’m thrilled with 65 degrees in Pittsburgh today!

It’s St. Paddy’s no self respecting Irish person would ever say St Patty’s, St Patrick was by all reports a man Patty is a diminutive for a girls name.

Holy bananas this post makes me so happy to that I’m gonna be HOME IN CVILLE this weekend. My fiancé said that it’s supposed to be in the 70s and nice…. I cannot wait. If you go out walking/running/otherwise and see a petite blonde runner with a monster ponytail that gives you shout-out, it is most likely me. I plan on frolicking the whole time with the boy. Glory.
God I love that place. Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you.

No joke I’m pretty certain that every time I’ve been in Cville since I started reading your blog you’ve been out of town. It’s like you’re scared of me lol.
But have fun at the beach–both are pretty good options.

I think hot dogs are so incredibly gross until I smell them outside on the street. Isn’t that weird? How a nasty hot dog cart in NYC can smell good to me I’ll never understand! haha

I’m hoping to score some raisin-less Irish soda bread this Sat at my local GH. What is with pregnancy and hotdog cravings? I went through a corndog phase.

I’m currently loving a broccoli slaw and hummus wrap that I sampled at Trader Joe’s yesterday. They mix the broccoli slaw with the Greek feta dressing. OMG, so delish! That dressing totally hits the spot for the creamy dressings I’ve been craving. None of these items were on my list when I was there yesterday, but I bought all the components. I think it’s the first time I’ve had hummus since I got pregnant!

When I was pregnant with my babies I always gravitated towards green foods. My mom always told us growing that your body craves what it needs so I always figured that I must have needed some gold old fashion iron when I was pregnant.

Steamed broccoli is an all time favorite of mine with just a little bit of salt, pepper and butter… OMG heaven. I also love it with a bit of the green goddess Salad dressing from Annies Naturals.

This has nothing to do with this post…..but, I just received the Cville Cluster Granola….OMG they are soooooo yummy!!!!!!!!!! Since I ordered three bags, I was wondering how I would store the other two bags? Can I freeze them? I doubt that I’ll get to that point, but I just wanted to know. Can’t wait till they go on sale again on Open Sky. Thanks

Hi Kath, Really enjoy your blog and have loved following along with baby’s progress. I am too am pregnant 21 wk 3 days today. I was told to stay away from hot dogs (along with other prepared deli meats due to the risk of listeria) during pregnancy, so naturally I have had the worst craving for one for weeks! I of course do not mean to scare you, but was this not one of the things your doctor told you to avoid?
