You are here: Home / Weekend / Starved.

January 23, 2009

Starved.

Lab was MEH today. We had to heat oil to 190* and observe its appearance. Not my cup of tea!

But Kelsey and I had a GREAT workout after!! But there was one problem: I was starving. Next time I’m going to have to pack a snack to have beforehand. I was in pain and luckily had packed some emergency trail mix, which helped. My workout knocked out my hunger, but it returned on the ride home and I ate the rest of the stash. Here’s a reenactment:

For our workout we did 30 minutes on the ET and then I led us in a boot camp class of sprints, shuffles, lunges, pushups, mountain climbers, jumps, more sprints, suicides. It was about 15 minutes of high intensity intervals and we were both shaking at the end.

this !
We moved into the weight lifting room to finish up with some upper body lifting before we showered. We’ll definitely be doing it again on future Fridays 🙂

I made it home for lunch by 2:00 and was starving!!! I ate a whole carrot while I heated things up. I don’t know which is flakier – the carrot’s skin or mine!

IMG_0842 (1024x768)

I reheated a cup of last night’s soup over a bed of kale, which steamed as the soup heated on top. I love kale in soups!

IMG_0851 (1024x768)

And on the side I had a Ham + Pepperjack Grilled Cheese on Great Harvest Dakota Bread –

IMG_0846 (1024x768)

The backside. I used extra cheese to get a gooey melt = success! I could TASTE the cheese! I guess I just always use too little. This was one whole slice of cheese on a half-sized sandwich (usually on a sandwich this size I would use half a slice to cover the bread).

In the words of Homer: homph gomph!

Plus strawberries + my carrot nub –

I’ve got some school work to do this afternoon, plus a walk to Harris Teeter to get some stamps. We’ve got 60* outside!!!!!!!!!! It’s so nice out there – you just need a nice jacket. I feel like spring is already coming, but in typical North Carolina fashion, I’m sure we’ll be down to 30-40* again soon.

Tonight is going to be low key. We’re planning to finish Arrested Development. So sad we’re almost at the end!

That soup looks really good with the added kale.

I agree about the weather – it’s around 60 today in VA, too – I’m pumped! And planning on running outside today since it’s not 30.

Your lunch looks delish, as always! I love that the soup looks chunky with a lot of texture. Don’t those boot camp classes kick your bootie?! Suicides are my favorite because they are SO challenging and I always feel like I had a tough workout the next day. Can’t wait to hear about your weekend!

What delicious eats you had today! Your meals always impress me. I know during the week it is so difficult for me to prepare my dinners. Do you plan most of them ahead of time? Have fun relaxing tonight!

That cheesy sandwich looks amazing, I’ll have to incorporate cheese into my dinner somehow.
I never watched Arrested Development but everyone I know who has has loved it. I’ll have to get the dvds.
Enjoy the rest of your Friday!

adding kale to your soup looks really good, i’m guessing it was a good color and texture contrast too. have a great walk and a great night!

Hahahahaha, I LOVED that “in the words of Homer.” I knew just what sound you meant 🙂 I try to do that all the time and no one knows what I mean (like when he is in the spaceship eating potato chips…)

That bread looks soooo good. Almost better than the melted cheese. Maybe. Not sure yet. But the bread and cheese definitely look fab!

weeks and weeks of frigid arctic-ness have done a number on my hands! i’m still on the lookout for the perfect moisturizer. it has to smell good (but not super strongly), not feel greasy and be thick enough to actually feel substantial. what’s your favorite?

Kale in soups is the bomb…but not as good as Kale Chips. 🙂

Mmmm, look at all the melted cheese. Don’t like it when I can’t taste the cheese as that is my favorite part!

Great workout. I love intervals – keeps things exciting. Have a good weekend Kath!

Yes, that’s why it was so boring!

    haya ,
I love Aveda’s hand cream. It’s kinda expensive, but I only use a small amount and have gotten samples of it in the past.
