Sprung

It’s warm enough to….

IMG_6413 (640x427)

Dine al fresco!! Totally crazy!

IMG_6405 (640x427)

Matt and I knocked out 6.2 hard-core miles around 11:30. Emily is out of town and this is a light break week for my half marathon training (FYI, I registered for it last night!!!! It’s official!!)

Matt led me on a fast run. Miles 1-4 were 8:27, 8:13, 8:25 and 8:33. Then we hit a big hill on mile 5 and slowed to 9:11 and then got to discussing bread dough for mile 6 and wrapped up with 8:55. My quads are feelin’ it now!

Once home I made my usual Sunday SIAB!!

Dark dinosaur purple green from kale + berries

IMG_6411 (640x427)

The Mix

  • 3/4 a cup vanilla soy milk
  • 2 big handfuls kale
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen berries
  • 1/2 packet of Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer (I like this for protein, greens, EFAs and the sweetness it gives to smoothies along with the texture. It thickens the smoothie and is slightly gritty)
  • 1 tbsp flax
  • Topped with Mix My Granola Cinnamon Banana Almond Chia

IMG_6407 (640x427)

I had a tasting plate on the side of fruits, veggies, healthy fats and grains

IMG_6410 (640x427)

Kiwi, carrot + celery, Nuttzo and Seeded Spelt Dr. Krackers (which I didn’t finish and shared with Matt)

IMG_6406 (640x427)

Yum!

IMG_6419 (640x427)

IMG_6415 (640x427)

Afternoon plans are to make a video for GoodBite, finish helping my mom make a website and walk to the shopping center to deposit a check.

Hope it’s warm where you are! Soaking it up since I know it’ll be freezing again before I know it…

Good luck! You guys are smoking fast. I just got a Garmin, which is GREAT. I’m not as slow as I thought I was, but I still peak out at about 9:00/mile, averaging closer to 10:15 for longer distances, and 10:30 for my first half.

How nice that you can dine outside! It’s getting colder here in Canada, so it’s treadmill runs and indoor dining for me. That’s okay though – it’ll sure make me appreciate those 3 days of summer we get! LOL!

Good for you for signing up for a half! I’m doing my first half in December in Las Vegas – I’m very excited about it! I’m slowly working my mileage up and have gotten to 7.2 miles so far – I can’t believe I’ll still have another HOUR of running to go, but it’ll be worth it because 3 months after the half I turn the big 3-0 and will be proud to say I’ve run a half marathon!
