Soupy Lunch Date

3 down, 1 to go!! This morning’s exam went pretty well – now it’s all downhill till tomorrow morning. I studied hard for 2 hours this morning and feel a lot better about my brain’s state.

But when I first got home, I did yoga  20 minutes of stress relief kind from my YogaZone boxed set. I got SOAKED walking across campus and put on sweatpants and decided I was in the mood. I have to say, I did feel so much more relaxed after 20 minutes of stretching, especially when the session ended with one of those “let all the stress melt from your fingertips” kind of meditations.

The husband arrived home promptly at 12:30 for our lunch date. Although we have more eggs to eat, we decided bread should be the focus of today’s lunch and what goes better with bread than soup?

I got some Amy’s Low-Sodium Split Pea soup with a coupon this week since I’ve seen it around the blog world. It was just OK. I don’t think I’d buy it again. Too onion-y and canned tasting. Boxed soups are the only kind I can tolerate that don’t have that gross canned taste. But this one was OK. I did have to add salt and spice it up with some cayenne too. I’ve also got the lentil kind in stock to try.

Plus apple + carrot with PB!

And Candy Cane Lane tea. I think this is my all-time favorite tea! It’s got the BEST aroma and is one of the best unsweetened I’ve found.

Arugula Lover!

Check out this article on the White House + green culinary efforts. Let’s hope the first family can set the example for healthy eating 🙂

Waters leads call for ‘kitchen cabinet’

And hahaha at this: “The newly elected, allegedly arugula-loving president”

Studying now until bedtime (with a break for dinner). I may or may not blog tonight – if I don’t, expect a long post tomorrow morning at 10am when I am finished with the semester!

I have to say, Amy’s low-sodium lentil veg is soooooo good. I have at least one can of that per week (sometimes 2) so it is probably my favorite of the Amy’s soups.

Also I believe the new president and his family will definitely set a good example and I hope they seriously educate our society on the importance of locally grown, HEALTHY food.

Have you tried any other Yoga dvds or is this your first one? I def. would like to buy one but want to make sure you would recommend YogaZone. I’ve only done Yoga twice just to let you know!

Kath – I hate to be a downer, but you might not like that Amy’s lentil soup. I have a similar aversion to onions as you, and I thought it was WAY too oniony. I’m sure it’s good if you like onions, but it’s not for me.

I really like Amy’s brand of soups, canned and all! Hey, maybe they will come out with boxed soups soon! They are always coming out with new stuff! I hope you like the lentil one, do, do try it, but I hope it’s not too oniony for you – if I remember there is more of a garlic flavor present. However – I love onions! So I might be a little biased.

Keep up the good work! You are almost finished!

I’ve done lentil soup but never split pea. I always add too much salt (sodium). Lately I’ve added less or no salt to most recipes and just let the hubby add some if it’s too bland.

He has finals these next two weeks and is in one of his last two semesters. It will be nice to have a little break.

Loved that article about Obama…can’t wait to see pics of him and his family out there wiping their sweaty brows as they hoe out that garden!!! ha! Now, that would truly set an example for everyone but I’m doubting you will see it. Very afraid that the examples they’re going to set, such as abortion at any time of the pregnancy, will NOT be good ones. Most of us are more concerned with more important issues than what they’re going to be eating!
